She felt the hairs on the back of her neck prickle, as though someone was watching her. The world outside seemed to hold its breath, the darkness of the night pressing in on her, suffocating her.

Lena sat up in bed, her breath coming in shallow bursts. Her fingers gripped the blankets

No. It’s not him. It can’t be
Lena
What if he found me?
Lena
What if he’s out there waiting for me?
Lena
Get it together, Lena.
Lena
What if he never really left?
Lena
It’s just my imagination.
Lena
But even as she tried to reassure herself, a voice in the back of her mind whispered: What if it isn’t? What if you’re being hunted?

She clutched the blanket tighter, squeezing her eyes shut,"Get a grip, Lena."
