The night in the hospital room felt endless. Lena’s body ached from the ordeal, the cold still lingering deep in her bones, but it was the emotional toll that weighed most heavily on her. Her mind kept replaying the events—the feeling of being dragged from her home, thrown into that van, and ultimately cast aside like she didn’t matter.
Lena
Lena lay in the sterile bed, staring at the ceiling, her fists clenched at her sides. How dare they? The mafia, the boss who had ordered her thrown into the sea as if she were nothing but an insignificant inconvenience. She couldn’t help the anger that bubbled up inside her, an insatiable rage that made her body tremble.
Lena
"I hate him. I hope I never see him again. I never want to be anywhere near that monster."
When morning finally came, bringing the first rays of daylight into the hospital room, Lena was still wide awake.
nurse
A nurse came in early to check on her, her presence a quiet disruption to Lena’s tangled thoughts. "Good morning, miss. How are you feeling?" she asked, her tone cheerful, though there was a hint of concern when she saw the exhaustion etched on Lena’s face.

A few hours later, the doctor came in to confirm what the nurse had said. Lena was stable enough to go home, though he warned her to take it easy and rest for a while. The hospital room felt like a cage she had been trapped in long enough.
After signing the discharge papers and gathering her things, Lena finally stepped out of the hospital room. The weight of the world still pressed heavily on her shoulders, but there was something oddly comforting about leaving the sterile walls behind.
Lena
She walked slowly down the hallway, the sound of her footsteps echoing off the tiles.
Lena
As she rounded the corner, she froze.
There, standing at the far end of the hallway, just outside the nurse's station, was the last person she ever expected to see.
Ivan Volk
He stood there, casually dressed in a dark jacket and jeans, his back to her. He was speaking to a hospital staff member, his voice low and commanding
Lena
Her heart skipped a beat, and for a moment, time seemed to slow. Her breath caught in her throat, her blood running cold. She wanted to look away, to turn and run, but her feet were frozen to the floor, as if some unseen force was holding her in place.
