The Silent Watchers – Someone Is Always Watching, but Why?
chapter 10
Riya
(Slowly) And who’s this?
Rehan raised an eyebrow, meeting Riya’s sharp gaze with a calm, unreadable expression.
Rehan(??)
(Casual) Just a customer.
Riya narrowed her eyes.
Aarya knew that look.
It was the same look Riya gave untrustworthy politicians when she interviewed them.
Riya
(Deadpan) Uh-huh. And I’m the Prime Minister’s secret bodyguard.
Riya
(Leaning closer) No, no. Hold on. You’re telling me this guy—who looks like he moonlights as a hitman—just randomly shows up at your café, watches you like a damn hawk, and now he’s sitting here sipping coffee like he owns the place?
Aarya glared.
Rehan smirked.
Rehan(??)
Moonlights as a hitman? That’s a new one.
Riya ignored him, turning back to Aarya.
Aarya exhaled, rubbing her temples.
Araya(fl)
I… don’t know. Yet.
That yet made Riya’s expression darken.
Before she could question further, Rehan leaned forward, placing his coffee cup down with a quiet clink.
Rehan(??)
(Calmly) Aarya, we need to talk. Alone.
Riya immediately bristled.
Riya
Oh, hell no. You don’t just walk in here all mysterious and brooding, drop cryptic messages, and then expect her to follow you like some horror movie protagonist.
Rehan sighed, his patience visibly thinning.
Riya
So is my gut instinct, and it’s telling me you’re bad news, buddy.
Aarya pinched the bridge of her nose.
Araya(fl)
(Exasperated) Riya, can you just—
Rehan(??)
(Amused) I like her.
Riya
Too bad, because I don’t like you.
Aarya nearly laughed, but before she could say anything, her phone buzzed in her apron pocket.
A chill ran down her spine.
She already knew who it was.
She pulled it out, heart hammering as she glanced at the screen.
unknown 1
They’re watching you right now.
Aarya’s breath caught.
Her hands clenched around the phone, fingers turning white.
Riya immediately noticed her shift in expression.
Riya
(Worried) What? What’s wrong?
Aarya didn’t answer. Her gaze flickered to the café window, scanning the busy street outside.
Nothing.
People walked by, laughing, talking, completely unaware.
And yet…
She felt it.
A presence. A shadow lurking just beyond her sight.
Rehan’s voice was calm but sharp.
Rehan(??)
(Softly) Aarya, listen to me. You need to come with me. Now.
