Chapter 9: Unfinished Melodies
The rehearsal space felt heavier than usual, the charged atmosphere almost suffocating.
Every step, every note, every synchronized movement carried an unspoken tension that no one could ignore.
While the choreography required Taehyung and Jungkook to be in sync, their unspoken past kept pulling them apart.
Yoongi sat by the window, a notebook open on his lap, a pencil twirling between his fingers. His gaze was unfocused, lost in thought as Jimin stirred awake across the room.
Park Jimin
Hyung, did you sleep at all?
Jimin’s voice was groggy with sleep, concern laced between his words.
Yoongi let out a soft chuckle, shaking his head.
Jimin sat up, rubbing his eyes.
Park Jimin
Thinking about the song?
Yoongi hesitated before nodding.
Min Yoongi
Yeah… and other things.
Jimin didn’t pry. He simply sat next to him, resting his head against Yoongi’s shoulder.
Park Jimin
Sometimes, unfinished songs just need the right person to help complete them.
Yoongi exhaled, his lips curling slightly.
Min Yoongi
You always know what to say.
Park Jimin
Only for you, Hyung.
Yoongi's fingers tapped against his notebook.
Min Yoongi
Jimin-ah… do you ever think about what could’ve been?
Jimin blinked, tilting his head.
Park Jimin
What do you mean?
Yoongi hesitated, then shook his head with a small chuckle.
Namjoon was already up, running over schedules and checking his phone when Seokjin walked into the kitchen, hair disheveled from sleep.
Kim Seokjin
You’re worse than a manager, you know?
Seokjin mumbled, grabbing a cup of coffee.
Namjoon sighed, placing his phone down.
Kim Namjoon
Someone has to keep everything from falling apart.
Seokjin sat down across from him, studying his face.
Kim Seokjin
And who’s keeping you together?
Namjoon didn’t answer, but the slight shift in his expression said enough. Seokjin reached out, tapping his fingers lightly against Namjoon’s wrist.
Kim Seokjin
You’re allowed to lean on someone too, Joonie.
Namjoon finally looked at him, something warm flickering in his eyes.
Kim Seokjin
Then maybe you should start acting like it.
Practice Room – Later That Day
The groups stood together, waiting as the choreographer explained the sequence. It was another intense run-through, this time emphasizing the chemistry between the leads. Taehyung and Jungkook.
Hyunwoo
Okay, let’s go again! And remember, it’s not just about the moves, it’s about the feeling behind them
the choreographer instructed.
Jungkook clenched his jaw. He knew exactly what that meant, and he hated that Taehyung was the only one who could make him feel so much with just a glance.
Taehyung stepped closer, the choreography demanding a near embrace before they separated again. Their eyes met, and for a moment, the tension thickened. It wasn’t just the routine—it was the years of unspoken words, of promises made and broken.
Across the room, Hoseok watched closely. He saw the way Taehyung’s fingers twitched slightly, like he wanted to hold on but didn’t. He saw the way Jungkook’s breathing hitched just for a second before he forced himself to look away.
Jackson Wang
They’re a mess
Jackson murmured beside him.
J-hope
The kind of mess that could either make or break this entire collaboration.
Hoseok ran a hand through his hair, deep in thought. He glanced at his phone, scrolling through messages from an old friend—Lisa.
She wasn’t part of the collaboration, but she always had a knack for sensing tension, even from a distance. His lips quirked as he read her text: 'Bet you five bucks those two combust before the end of rehearsals.'
The fan chat buzzed with speculation:
@StarryKookie: "Did y’all see the way Jungkook looked at Taehyung?!? The tension is INSANE."
@VantaeLover: "It’s like they have some deep history… what if they used to be close? 👀"
@HobiSunshine: "I swear if this isn’t enemies-to-lovers in real life, I don’t know what is."
Meanwhile, Seokjin leaned toward Namjoon again.
Kim Seokjin
It’s getting worse, isn’t it?
Yoongi, who had been watching from the side, exhaled.
Min Yoongi
It’s only a matter of time before it all explodes.
Jimin’s gaze flickered between Yoongi and the two men on stage, a deep understanding settling in his chest. Because love like this—hidden, restrained, and bursting at the seams—was bound to demand release.
And when it did, nothing would ever be the same again.
