Chapter 6: Tension in Motion
The air in the practice room was thick with unspoken emotions as Eclipse and Stratos stood in formation. The first official day of rehearsals for their collaboration had begun, but it wasn’t just about perfecting choreography—it was about surviving each other’s presence.
The music started, a heavy baseline reverberating through the mirrored room. Jungkook and Taehyung were positioned at the front, their movements sharp and precise, but every step felt like a silent battle between them.
Hoseok, as the leader of Eclipse, clapped his hands together after the first run-through.
J-hope
Alright, let’s take five
His usually bright demeanor was replaced with something more serious as he observed the tension between his members and Stratos.
Yoongi stretched his arms behind his head, muttering,
Min Yoongi
This will be a long month.
Jimin nudged Taehyung playfully.
Taehyung rolled his shoulders.
His voice was even, but Jimin wasn’t convinced. His eyes flickered to Jungkook, who was downing a water bottle, avoiding everyone’s gaze.
On the other side of the room, Namjoon walked up to Jungkook, voice low.
Kim Namjoon
You need to control whatever’s going on between you two. We can’t afford tension ruining this collaboration.
Jungkook exhaled sharply.
Namjoon gave him a long look before patting his back.
Seokjin leaned against the mirrored wall, arms crossed. His sharp eyes caught every detail—the way Taehyung and Jungkook refused to acknowledge each other directly, yet seemed hyperaware of every movement the other made.
Kim Seokjin
They’re acting like strangers,
Jackson, who had been stretching nearby, chuckled
Jackson Wang
Acting? Please. They’re still completely wrapped up in each other.
Min Yoongi
It’s exhausting watching them dance around whatever this is.
Second Round of Practice.
The second run-through went smoother—or at least, more technically correct. Taehyung and Jungkook managed to match each other’s energy without letting personal emotions seep through. But that was the problem. It felt rehearsed, cold. The chemistry that should have been there was absent.
The choreographer, Hyunwoo, paused the music, sighing.
Hyunwoo
Jungkook, Taehyung, I need more from you two.
Hyunwoo gestured to the rest of the group.
Instructor
Everyone else is giving, but you two? You’re just... moving. I need passion. Conviction. Make the audience feel something.
Jungkook and Taehyung exchanged a glance—one that carried years of unresolved emotions.
Jeon Jungkook
Let’s go again
The music restarted. This time, something changed. The way Jungkook’s eyes burned into Taehyung’s, the way Taehyung’s lips parted slightly as their bodies moved in sync—it was electric. The rest of the room could feel it too. The tension that had once hindered them now charged the atmosphere, making every step more impactful.
When the song ended, silence filled the space. Then, a slow clap. It was Seokjin, smirking.
Kim Seokjin
Now that’s what I’m talking about.
Even Hyunwoo seemed satisfied.
Instructor
Keep that energy. Take a break.
Hoseok sighed dramatically, leaning against the wall.
Jimin raised a brow at Yoongi.
Park Jimin
So, how much longer do you think before they finally admit they’re not over each other?
Min Yoongi
Give it a week.
Jackson Wang
Nah, I give it three days. They’re already slipping.
Namjoon chuckled, nudging Seokjin.
Kim Namjoon
Want to start a betting pool?
Kim Seokjin
Only if I get a cut when I win.
Jimin plopped onto the couch, throwing an arm over Taehyung.
Park Jimin
That was intense.
Taehyung scoffed, drinking from his water bottle.
Kim Taehyung
Yeah, well... guess we still have it.
Jungkook walked in then, eyes briefly meeting Taehyung’s before he turned away.
Jeon Jungkook
We need to talk.
Jimin looked between them before standing.
Park Jimin
I’ll... leave you to it.
He patted Jungkook’s shoulder before walking out.
Taehyung crossed his arms.
Jungkook hesitated before speaking.
Jeon Jungkook
We can’t let personal stuff get in the way.
Kim Taehyung
Funny. I was thinking the same thing.
Jungkook exhaled, rubbing the back of his neck.
Jeon Jungkook
Let’s just get through this, alright?
Taehyung studied him for a long moment before finally nodding.
But as Jungkook turned to leave, Taehyung’s voice stopped him.
Kim Taehyung
You didn’t forget everything... did you?
Jungkook’s shoulders tensed before he walked out without a word.
Taehyung scoffed, leaning back.
Kim Taehyung
Yeah. That’s what I thought.
