Chapter 7: Unfinished Songs
Author
Lets start the chapter.
The energy in the practice room had shifted. After the last rehearsal, there was no denying the lingering tension between Jungkook and Taehyung. It wasn’t just the group that noticed—it was everyone. The staff, the choreographers, even the managers.
Despite their agreement to remain professional, something unspoken hung between them, threatening to unravel with every intense gaze and every synchronized movement.
Eclipse Dorms – Late Night
Yoongi sat in the common area, his laptop open, headphones draped around his neck. His fingers hovered over the keyboard, but he wasn’t composing. Instead, his eyes were on the dimly lit hallway where Jimin’s door was slightly ajar.
Inside, the faint sound of music played, a soft melody that Yoongi instantly recognized—it was one of the older tracks he had written, one that Jimin had loved.
He exhaled quietly, closing his laptop. He had spent years perfecting lyrics and creating music for others, but no words ever seemed enough when it came to Jimin.
There was a time when he had thought about writing something just for him, something honest.
But that was years ago, before the industry turned their lives into something complicated before emotions became risks they weren’t allowed to take.
Yoongi rubbed his temples and let out a quiet chuckle.
Practice Studio – Next Morning
The collaboration rehearsals were growing more intense. With each practice, the movements became sharper, the chemistry undeniable.
But it wasn’t just between Jungkook and Taehyung—everyone was starting to pick up on the undercurrents of emotions running beneath the surface.
Hoseok, ever the observant leader, clapped his hands.
J-hope
Alright, let’s take a breather.
Jimin plopped onto the floor beside Taehyung, nudging him with his knee.
Park Jimin
You’re actually putting in effort. I’m impressed.
Taehyung huffed, throwing his head back dramatically.
Kim Taehyung
I always put in effort, Park.
Jungkook, who had been sipping water nearby, scoffed.
Jeon Jungkook
Could’ve fooled me.
Taehyung shot him a glare, but before he could respond, Namjoon cut in.
Kim Namjoon
Not now, children.
Kim Seokjin
Oh no, let them continue. This is better than TV.
Jackson Wang
I give them two more rehearsals before they crack.
Yoongi, who had been quiet up until now, glanced at Jimin, watching the way he easily fit into the chaos, his laughter melting into the conversations around them.
His stomach tightened slightly before he turned back to his notebook, pretending to be focused on his lyrics.
Jimin caught the glance but didn’t say anything. Instead, he nudged Yoongi’s arm playfully.
Yoongi rolled his eyes, but a small smile tugged at the corner of his lips.
Min Yoongi
Something like that.
Namjoon, who had been standing near the mirrors, turned to Seokjin with a thoughtful expression.
Kim Namjoon
You’ve been quiet.
Seokjin stretched, giving him a lazy grin.
Kim Seokjin
Just watching the drama unfold.
Kim Namjoon
You always act like you’re above it all.
Namjoon chuckled, shaking his head.
Seokjin leaned in slightly, voice lower.
Kim Seokjin
And yet, you always look for me when things get too heavy, don’t you?
Namjoon’s smile faltered for a second before he rolled his eyes.
Kim Namjoon
You’re impossible.
Seokjin patted his shoulder.
Kim Seokjin
And you love it.
Jungkook sat on the counter, arms crossed, watching as Taehyung made himself a cup of coffee. The tension was suffocating.
Jeon Jungkook
Are we gonna talk about it?
Kim Taehyung
Talk about what?
Jungkook let out a dry laugh.
Jeon Jungkook
Right. Keep pretending.
Taehyung turned, leaning against the counter.
Kim Taehyung
What do you want me to say, Jungkook?
Jungkook clenched his jaw.
Jeon Jungkook
Nothing, apparently.
He pushed off the counter and walked past Taehyung, brushing his shoulders as he left the room.
Taehyung exhaled, gripping his coffee cup a little too tightly.
Across the hall, Jimin and Yoongi had been standing near the doorway, having heard the entire exchange. Jimin frowned.
Park Jimin
They’re going to combust at this rate.
His eyes lingered on Jimin for a second longer before looking away.
Min Yoongi
Some people are just afraid of admitting things.
Jimin turned to him, curious.
Park Jimin
And what about you?
Min Yoongi
I never admit anything.
Seokjin, who had been walking past, overhead and snorted.
Kim Seokjin
Now that’s the biggest lie I’ve heard today.
Namjoon raised an eyebrow.
Kim Namjoon
Oh? So he does admit things?
Kim Seokjin
Not in words. But trust me, Yoongi’s lyrics say more than he ever will.
