closing cafe
The morning air was crisp, carrying the scent of freshly baked bread and roasted coffee beans as Jungkook made his way through the familiar streets. The little bell above the café door chimed as he stepped inside, the warmth from within wrapping around him like a comforting embrace.
The café had been his second
home for years now. The soft hum of conversations, the clinking of cups, and the aroma of coffee had become a part of his life. It was here that he had built a small piece of stability, a place where he felt he belonged, even when the world outside seemed too cruel.
He glanced at the clock—it was still early. Most of the regular customers hadn’t arrived yet, but a few early risers were already seated, sipping their morning coffee.
Jungkook tied his apron around his waist and was about to get to work when one of his colleagues approached him.
"Jungkook, the boss wants to see you in the office."
The owner, Mr. Han, was a kind man, but he rarely called him in for meetings. A flicker of worry crossed his mind—had he done something wrong?
Brushing his hands on his apron, he took a deep breath and made his way to the back office.
The door was slightly ajar, and he knocked softly before stepping inside.
Mr. Han, a man in his late forties with graying hair and kind eyes, looked up from his desk and gestured for him to sit.
"Jungkook, come in. Please, have a seat."
He nodded, settling into the chair across from him, his hands unconsciously gripping the fabric of his apron.

"Is something wrong, sir?" he asked hesitantly.
Mr Han, sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose before leaning back in his chair.
"Jungkook, you’ve been working here for years now. You’re one of my most trusted employees. That’s why I wanted to talk to you personally before making any announcements."

A sinking feeling settled in his stomach.
"What is it?"
He hesitated before finally saying, "We’re closing this branch of the café."

Jungkook’s breath hitched. "Closing? But… why?"
