~ Chapter 18 ~
Taehyung stood at the door of his room, his fingers lightly grazing the handle as he listened to the faint sounds of his husbands talking downstairs.
His heart was heavy, a mixture of exhaustion and quiet resolve settling over him. Today was different. He wasn’t going to bend to their demands, to their dismissals, or their cruelty. For once, he was choosing himself.
With a soft sigh, he opened the door and stepped out. He walked down the hallway, his pace steady and unhurried, his mind made up.
As he descended the stairs, he could see the triplets sitting around the table, half-heartedly eating the breakfast they had made themselves.
They noticed him almost immediately, their eyes following him as he crossed the living room and headed toward the front door.
He didn’t look at them, didn’t offer them the small, weary smile he usually forced himself to give.
He just walked past, his face a blank canvas of calm detachment. The silence was deafening as he grabbed his coat from the hanger, slipped on his shoes, and stepped outside, the door closing softly behind him.
The eldest, Jungkook frowned, his spoon halfway to his mouth as he turned to his brothers.
Jeon Jungkook
Where the hell is he going?
Jaekook leaned back in his chair, raising an eyebrow.
Jeon Jaekook
Who knows? Maybe he finally snapped after last night.
Jungkook, ever the cynical one, chuckled under his breath.
Jeon Jungkook
What does it matter? It’s not like he has anyone to go to. He doesn’t know anyone here, and he’s certainly not the type to have… other options.
Jaekook smirked at the thought.
Jeon Jaekook
Yeah, who’s he gonna run to? He's not exactly the kind to play around behind our backs. But then again,
He added with a cruel glint in his eye.
Jeon Jaekook
Maybe he’s desperate enough to go looking for someone on the streets.
Jungkook laughed, though it didn’t quite reach his eyes.
Jeon Jungkook
Well, good luck to him then. Let’s see how long he lasts out there.
The youngest, Jungukk didn’t laugh, his brow furrowed in confusion. He glanced toward the door where Taehyung had just disappeared.
Jeon Jungukk
He’s not like that.
He muttered, more to himself than to his brothers.
Jeon Jaekook
You’d be surprised what people are capable of when they’ve hit rock bottom.
