Silent Pain [Taekookgukkkook]
~ Chapter 09 ~
Taehyung's fingers tightened around the wooden spoon he was holding, the knuckles white with the effort of holding back his tears.
Kim Taehyung
I'm sorry, Mr. Jaekook.
He said quietly, his eyes dropping to the floor.
Kim Taehyung
I'll hurry and finish it as quickly as I can.
With a final sneer, Jaekook turned on his heel and stormed out of the kitchen, leaving Taehyung to the silent company of his bubbling pots and the heavy weight of his words. Taehyung took a deep breath, blinking back the tears that threatened to spill over, and resumed his cooking with renewed determination.
As he worked, the laughter and chatter from the living room filtered into the kitchen, a cruel reminder of the life he was trying so desperately to navigate.
Despite the pain and the relentless pressure, Taehyung knew he had to push through. For now, all he could do was keep cooking, each dish a silent testament to his endurance and his hope for a better tomorrow.
Kim Taehyung
(I...I should hurry.)
With the food prepared and the table set, Taehyung took a step back to admire hid work. The dining room looked beautiful, each dish meticulously placed, the table adorned with delicate flowers and fine china. He hoped that this effort would finally earn a glimmer of approval from Jaekook and perhaps even make a good impression on his guests.
Taking a deep breath, he walked to the living room where Jaekook and his guests were laughing and chatting.
Kim Taehyung
Dinner is ready.
He said softly, his voice barely cutting through the noise.
Jaekook turned to him, his expression hard to read.
Jeon Jaekook
Alright, ladies, *Forces smile* Dinner is served.
The women, a group of elegantly dressed but sharp-eyed girls, rose and followed Jaekook to the dining room.
Taehyung stayed behind, wanting to greet them properly as Jaekook's husband. As they filed into the room, he stood by the door, his heart pounding in his chest.
He began, his voice warm and welcoming,
Kim Taehyung
I'm Taehyung. I'm so glad you could join us tonight. 😊
There was a moment of silence as the women sized him up, their expressions ranging from indifferent to openly hostile. One of them, a tall brunette with a haughty demeanor, sneered.
Kang Ava
So you're the husband.
She said, her tone dripping with condescension.
Kang Ava
I was expecting someone... different. *Mocking*
