Complications
[Ethan didn't answer. He couldn't. The truth was, he did feel something for her, and denying it was becoming increasingly impossible.]

~ CHAPTER 6: GOT TRAP IN HER WEB ~
Ethan walked through the front door, the weight of the day's events pressing heavily on his shoulders. Rachel, always attentive, heard the familiar sound and emerged from the kitchen with a warm smile.
Rachel Montgomery
"Dinner is ready, Ethan. Why don't you freshen up?"
She suggested gently, her voice filled with the usual warmth that made their home feel like a sanctuary
But tonight, Ethan's response was different.
Ethan Montgomery
"I'm not hungry"
He muttered, avoiding eye contact as he headed straight for their bedroom.
Rachel stood there, her smile fading as she watched him walk away. Something felt off, a nagging sensation of uneasy curling in her stomach. She couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.
After a few minutes, she decided to check on him. She quietly opened the door to their bedroom and saw Ethan already in bed, his back turned towards her, breathing evenly in what seemed like sleep.
With a heavy heart, Rachel changed into her nightclothes and slipped into bed beside him. She lay there, staring at the ceiling, her mind racing with worry. The usually comforting presence of Ethan beside her now felt distant and cold.
Sleep came slowly to Rachel that night, her dreams filled with shadows of doubt and concern for the man she loved.
The next day at the office, Maya continued to push the boundaries. She found reasons to touch him lightly, her hand brushing his arm or shoulder, her gaze lingering a little too long. It was clear that she was intent on pursuing him, and Ethan found it increasingly difficult to resist.
That evening, as they worked late once again, Maya made her boldest move yet. As they reviewed some documents, she suddenly closed the gap between them, her lips finding his in a heated kiss.
This time, Ethan didn't pull away. The intensity of the moment consumed him, and he found himself responding, his hands gripping her waist.
They broke apart, breathless, and Maya looked at him with a mixture of desire and determination.
Maya Fernandez
"Ethan, I want you. And I know you want me too."
Ethan's mind raced. He knew he was standing on the edge of a precipice, one wrong move away from shattering his marriage. But the pull towards Maya was strong, and his resolve was weakening.
Ethan Montgomery
"I can't"
He finally whispered, though his voice lacked conviction.
Maya cupped his face in her hands, her eyes locking onto his.
Maya Fernandez
"Yes, you can. You don't have to choose right now. Just let yourself feel this, even if it's just for a moment."
Ethan Montgomery
" I....I can't. I'm marrie-"
Maya put her finger on his lips and from the other hand she held his hand and put it on her face
Maya Fernandez
"Ohh... Ethan, Touch me "
She slowly brings his hand from her face to her neck and then stops by bringing it near her chest....
Ethan's heart pounded in his chest. He knew he was making a mistake, but At that moment, the desire for Maya overwhelmed his sense of right and wrong. He kissed her again, deeply, and for a while, he allowed himself to be swept away by the passion.
And that night he made that mistake, he betrayed Rachel, his wife, their love of so many years that he did not appreciate it, He was spending his night with Maya... m@king love with her.
Rachel Montgomery
Ethan’s call isn’t reachable, and he hasn’t sent me any message ...
Rachel was waiting for Ethan and had called him many times, but she couldn't reach him. Rachel waited for him all night, but he didn't come home.
Ethan and Lila are both asleep in the office. Laila wakes up, gets up, and sees Ethan still sleeping....
Maya Fernandez
"Last night was so Amazing"
Ethan gets up and sees that Laila has already woken up and has been staring at him for some time.
Maya Fernandez
"Good Morning, Handsome"
Ethan Montgomery
"I have to go"
Maya Fernandez
Huh! But why??
Ethan Montgomery
"You have forgotten, I am married, and Rachel must have been waiting for me at home last night. I haven't told her anything, and I didn't go home last night."
Ethan replied, He picked his shirt from ground
Maya Fernandez
Okay! Don't be angry! When will you come back? I will wait for you.
Ethan looked at her with confusion
Ethan Montgomery
What do you mean?
Maya Fernandez
Come back soon, I've planned a surprise for you.
Lila said while caress his lips and kissed on his lips
Ethan didn't say anything and left there.
When Ethan finally left the office, he felt a heavy weight of guilt and regret. He knew he had crossed a line, and there was no going back. The thought of facing Rachel made him feel sick, but he couldn't avoid it forever.
As he walked through the door, Rachel greeted him with a tired smile.
Rachel Montgomery
Welcome Home, Honey!
Rachel Montgomery
You didn't come home last night. Has work increased that much at the office?
Ethan Montgomery
" A bit, Rachel!, I was going to call you, but my phone's battery died."
Ethan replied, unable to meet her eyes.
Rachel studied him for a moment, sensing the change in him but not pressing the issue.
Rachel Montgomery
"Well, I'm glad you're home. Let's just relax, okay?"
Ethan nodded, grateful for her understanding, even though it made him feel worse. He knew he needed to make a decision, to choose between the life he had built with Rachel and the intense, forbidden attraction he felt for Maya. But for now, he was trapped in a web of his own making, unsure of how to break free.
Under the guise of business, Ethan started to spend more time with Maya. They often worked late together, their meetings stretching well into the evening. What started as professional collaboration gradually morphed into personal conversations and shared moments that went beyond the office walls.
It was on one of these evenings, the office quiet and bathed in the soft glow of desk lamps, that Maya broke the silence with a question that had been gnawing at her.
Maya Fernandez
“Do you ever feel like you're just going through the motions?”
She asked, her eyes searching his.
Ethan leaned back in his chair, feeling the weight of her question. He hesitated before answering, knowing that his response could reveal more than he intended.
Ethan Montgomery
“Sometimes”
Ethan Montgomery
“It’s hard to balance everything. There’s always so much to do, and it feels like I’m constantly running on empty.”
Maya nodded, her gaze softening with understanding.
Maya Fernandez
"I get that. I feel the same way sometimes. But maybe we can help each other find some meaning.”
Ethan looked at her, struck by the sincerity in her eyes.
Ethan Montgomery
“What do you mean?”
Maya smiled, a hint of mischief in her expression.
He said, his voice almost a whisper.
“By reminding each other that there’s more to life than just work. Finding those little moments that make everything worthwhile.”
Ethan felt a surge of warmth at her words.
Ethan Montgomery
“That sounds… nice”
He said, his voice almost a whisper.
Over the next few weeks, Ethan and Maya’s relationship deepened. Their work sessions became interspersed with personal anecdotes, shared laughter, and moments of quiet intimacy. Ethan found himself looking forward to their time together, the connection they were building a stark contrast to the distance he felt growing between him and Rachel.
As they were wrapping up yet another late night at the office, Maya stood up and stretched.
Maya Fernandez
“I’m starving”
Maya Fernandez
“Want to grab a bite to eat?”
Ethan hesitated, glancing at the clock. It was well past dinner time, and he knew Rachel would be wondering where he was. But the thought of spending more time with Maya was too tempting to resist.
He said, trying to ignore the pang of guilt in his chest.
Ethan Montgomery
“Where do you want to go?”
Maya Fernandez
“There’s a little Italian place down the street”
Maya Fernandez
“They have the best pasta.”
They left the office together, the night air cool and refreshing. As they walked, their conversation flowed easily, the camaraderie between them growing stronger with each passing moment. By the time they reached the restaurant, Ethan felt like he was seeing Maya in a whole new light.
They found a cozy corner table, the ambiance of the restaurant intimate and inviting. As they perused the menu, Ethan couldn’t help but steal glances at Maya, her beauty even more striking in the soft candlelight.
Maya said, breaking the comfortable silence.
Maya Fernandez
“Tell me something about yourself that I don’t know.”
Ethan smiled, a little taken aback by the request.
Ethan Montgomery
"Like what?"
Maya replied, her eyes twinkling with curiosity.
Maya Fernandez
“A favorite memory, a dream you’ve never told anyone about… surprise me.”
Ethan thought for a moment, his mind drifting to a memory from his childhood.
Ethan Montgomery
“When I was a kid, my dad used to take me to this little lake upstate. We’d spend the whole day fishing, just the two of us. It was our special place.”
Maya listened intently, a soft smile on her lips.
Maya Fernandez
“That sounds wonderful. Do you still go there?”
Ethan shook his head, a hint of sadness in his eyes.
Ethan Montgomery
“Not in a long time. Life got busy, and… well, you know how it is.”
Maya reached across the table, her hand brushing against his.
Maya Fernandez
“Maybe you should go back someday. It sounds like a place worth revisiting.”
Ethan Montgomery
“Maybe I will”
Ethan felt a jolt of electricity at her touch, his heart racing.
He said softly, his gaze locked on hers.
Their meal arrived, and they continued to talk and laugh, the connection between them growing deeper with each passing minute. As the evening wore on, Ethan found himself sharing things he had never told anyone else, his guard slipping more and more with each sip of wine.
At one point, Maya leaned in closer, her voice low and intimate.
Maya Fernandez
“You know, Ethan, I’m really glad we’re getting to know each other like this. It’s rare to find someone you can truly connect with.”
Ethan felt a surge of emotion at her words.
Ethan Montgomery
“I feel the same way, Maya. You’ve made these past few weeks… special.”
Maya smiled, her eyes shining with warmth.
Maya Fernandez
“Here’s to many more special moments”
She said, raising her glass.
They toasted, the clink of their glasses a quiet promise of things to come. As they finished their meal and prepared to leave, Ethan felt a mix of excitement and trepidation. He knew he was treading dangerous waters, but the connection he felt with Maya was too powerful to ignore.
Outside the restaurant, they lingered for a moment, neither wanting the evening to end.
Maya Fernandez
“Do you want to walk for a bit?”
Maya suggested, her voice soft.
Ethan nodded, the idea of spending more time with her was too tempting to resist.
They walked in comfortable silence, the city lights casting a warm glow around them. As they reached a quiet park, Maya stopped and turned to face him.
Maya Fernandez
"Ethan, can I ask you something?”
She said, her eyes searching his.
Ethan Montgomery
“Of course,”
Ethan replied, his heart pounding.
Maya took a deep breath, her expression serious
Maya Fernandez
“Do you ever think about what it would be like if things were different? If we had met under different circumstances?”
Ethan felt a pang of guilt, but he couldn’t deny the truth.
Ethan Montgomery
“I think about it a lot.”
Maya stepped closer, her gaze intense.
Maya Fernandez
“And what do you imagine?”
Ethan hesitated, the words caught in his throat. But as he looked into Maya’s eyes, he felt a surge of courage.
Ethan Montgomery
“I imagine us together. Happy. Free from all the complications.”
Maya’s eyes softened, and she reached up to touch his cheek.
Maya Fernandez
“I feel the same way, Ethan.”
At that moment, the world seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of them. Ethan felt a powerful pull towards her, the barriers between them crumbling. Slowly, he leaned in, his lips meeting hers in a tender, electrifying kiss.
The kiss deepened, and for a moment, all of Ethan’s doubts and fears melted away. It was just him and Maya, lost in a world of their own making. As they finally pulled away, breathless and dazed, Ethan knew that his life had just changed in a profound way.
Maya looked up at him, her eyes filled with emotion.
Maya Fernandez
“What now, Ethan?”
Ethan took her hand, squeezing it gently.
Ethan Montgomery
“I don’t know. But I want to find out, together.”
They continued to walk, hand in hand, the night air cool against their skin. As they talked and laughed, Ethan felt a sense of hope and possibility that he hadn’t felt in a long time. The future was uncertain, but with Maya by his side, he was ready to face whatever came their way.
As they finally said their goodbyes and parted ways, Ethan felt a mixture of excitement and fear. As he drove home, his mind raced with thoughts of the evening, the kiss, and what the future might hold.
When Ethan finally walked through the door, he found Rachel waiting for him, her eyes filled with worry.
Rachel Montgomery
“Ethan, where have you been? I’ve been calling you all night.”
Ethan felt a wave of guilt wash over him.
Ethan Montgomery
“I’m sorry, Rachel. I got caught up with work and lost track of time.”
Rachel sighed, her expression softening.
Rachel Montgomery
“I was worried about you. Please, just let me know next time, okay?”
Ethan nodded, his heart heavy with the weight of his deception.
Ethan Montgomery
“I will, Rachel. I promise.”
As he went to bed that night, Ethan couldn’t help but think about Maya and the connection they had forged. He knew that his life was about to become even more complicated, but he also knew that he couldn’t turn back now. The future was uncertain, but he was ready to face it head-on, with Maya by his side.
