Episode 12

Orion returned to the pack, but the tension in his body was palpable. Every fiber of his being pulsed with a protective instinct, as if a primordial force compelled him to rescue Freya, even as his mind tried to rationalize the situation. The internal struggle made him restless, and the thought of her and Liana being at the mercy of the men consumed him.

In his room, the darkness seemed to gather around him, and the oppressive silence only amplified his agitation. He threw himself on the bed, but sleep wouldn't come. Furious and afflicted, his mind raced with what could be happening to them.

It was then that Missandre entered the room, her gaze worried. Without hesitation, she approached and embraced him, seeking to offer comfort. However, Orion, overcome with rage and frustration, pushed her away.

"Get out!" he exclaimed, his voice laden with fury.

Missandre was confused, the expression of concern on her face shifting into pain. — Let me stay with you for a while! — she insisted, her voice trembling, trying to approach again.

But Orion's response was explosive.

"I said get out!" he shouted, growling fiercely, his eyes blazing like flames.

The atmosphere in the room grew heavy, and Missandre hesitated, her heart clenching with rejection. She knew the situation was critical, but her intention was to help, even if Orion couldn't see it at that moment.

The inner battle he was facing made him a dangerous man, and she slowly backed away, allowing him to face his demons alone.

...****************...

The next day, the Alpha gathered his entire pack in a clearing under the light of dawn. Hundreds of wolves, with gleaming fur and burning eyes, were ready for the mission that lay ahead. The atmosphere pulsed with collective energy, each pack member feeling the anxiety and determination that permeated the air.

With a penetrating gaze, Orion positioned himself before them. Rage burned in his chest as he spoke, his voice echoing like thunder. — The men behind the wall kidnapped my sister and my mate! — he bellowed, fury resonating in every word. — They want their men back in exchange for them!

Hearing his words, the wolves began to howl in unison, a chorus of anger and loyalty. Orion raised his head, feeling the power of the pack behind him.

"Let's show them what happens when they try to invade our territory!" he shouted, and the howls intensified, reverberating through the forest like a warning.

Meanwhile, in the village beyond the wall, Freya was trapped in a dark, damp cell, with heavy chains that kept her movements restricted. Beside her, Liana struggled to break free, but the chains were relentless. Despair was beginning to take hold of them when suddenly a young woman appeared at the entrance to the cell, her eyes wide with fear as she saw the prisoners.

The young woman, holding a plate of food, hesitated for a moment, fearing that these women were dangerous. Freya stared at her, empathy overflowing in her eyes, and decided to break the silence.

"What is your name?" she asked, her voice soft but firm.

"They told me not to talk to you!" exclaimed the young woman, trembling, anxiety evident in her tone.

Freya, sensing the fear that surrounded her, tried to calm her.

"We won't hurt you. I used to live here with you!" she said, trying to establish a connection, a thread of trust between them.

The young woman looked at her with distrust, but the sincerity in Freya's words seemed to penetrate her hesitation.

"Are you human?" she asked, curiosity overcoming fear.

Freya hesitated, remembering her childhood, the stories she had heard.

"I don't know, but my father was, his name was Elias" she replied, the sadness in her voice revealing the complexity of her identity.

The young woman was silent for a moment, processing the information. The name "Elias" sounded familiar, and the connection Freya was trying to establish slowly began to form.

The atmosphere in the cell, previously heavy and somber, now carried a slight hope, however fragile.

"What's your name?" Freya asked, trying to break the tension in the air.

"My name is Maia!" exclaimed the young woman, her voice a little more confident.

She noticed some marks on Maia's face and asked, intrigued. — What happened to your face?

Maia hesitated, but the sincerity in Freya's voice encouraged her. — A fever swept through the village years ago. My father, the guardian of the wall, found the cure and was able to save us — she explained, sadness reflected in her eyes. — Look, we don't want to hurt you, we just want to rescue my uncle, who is being held captive. My uncle just became a father, shortly after he was taken by the wolves. He's not a bad person, he just got lost — the young woman said, hope shining in her eyes.

Freya felt the sincerity in Maya's words and responded firmly.

"I will do my best to help your uncle."

But before they could speak further, a man abruptly entered the cell. Maia stood up quickly, her face changing to a look of concern.

"We don't want to hurt you!" exclaimed the man, trying to appear calm.

"Really? What was that blow then?" "asked Liana, nervous, defensive."

"We had no other choice, it was either that or you would attack us" explained the man, his voice tense. "We're going to take you back, in exchange for our men. I hope you don't resist!" he concluded, with a determined look.

Immediately, other men entered, and the prisoners were taken. Freya and Liana were dragged through dark corridors to the village exit. During the walk, Freya couldn't help but notice what was happening around her: men saying goodbye to their children and wives, their eyes filled with fear and uncertainty, fearing that this could be their last day together. The scene reminded her of her father, of how he said goodbye to her mother before they left.

After leaving the wall, the group walked a little further until they reached the meeting point. The air was heavy with the tension of what was to come. Freya knew Orion would be there, leading the pack, and she wondered how it would all unfold.

As they waited, the tension in the air was palpable. Suddenly, Orion emerged, his imposing black wolf form emerging from among the trees, each step reverberating like thunder. Shadows danced around him, and as he drew closer, his transformation into a human revealed a fearless Alpha, with Lucky and Vincent at his side, ready for battle.

"Bring them!" Orion's voice cut through the silence, an order that echoed through the forest.

A beta brought the two captive men, their expressions reflecting the dread they felt in the face of the Alpha wolf's ferocity. Orion's eyes met Freya's, and for a moment, everything around them disappeared.

Orion made a brusque gesture, ordering the prisoners to walk. They walked slowly towards their people, while Freya and Liana advanced in the opposite direction, towards the wolves. When Freya reached Orion, his penetrating gaze enveloped her.

When the prisoners were handed over, the men turned to leave, until Orion's somber voice echoed, charged with power and threat.

"Where do you think you're going?" his words accompanied by a deep growl that made the ground tremble.

"We made a deal!" exclaimed the leader, but his voice faltered, crushed by the intensity of Orion's gaze.

"You invade our territory and think you'll get out alive?" Fury overflowed in each syllable. At that moment, a wave of wolves emerged from the shadows, hundreds of them, each with eyes like embers, ready to attack.

Freya felt a chill down her spine and, on impulse, shouted, — Orion, no!

He turned his face quickly, his fierce eyes now fixed on her.

"Stay here!" he shouted, but Freya's determination was unwavering. She couldn't allow the Alpha to sacrifice these men.

"I won't let you hurt these people! They just want their families back!" Her voice echoed with a power she didn't understand.

Orion, overcome with fury, pushed Freya aside and went for the men, but within her, a flame of protection began to burn. Something primal was awakening.

As the Alpha approached them, Freya, driven by a wild instinct, ran and placed herself between them, challenging him.

"Get out of my way or I'll kill you!" Orion's threat was like a thunderbolt, but Freya didn't back down.

"Let them go!" she shouted, her bravery emanating like an unbreakable aura.

Orion gestured, and one of his wolves advanced quickly, but Freya, with a strength that surprised everyone, punched the wolf with a powerful blow, sending him flying away. The silence that followed was deafening.

The Alpha froze, his gaze fixed on Freya, confused and surprised to see her eyes change color, reflecting a strength she didn't possess.

Frantic, he pulled her back, and the fight began. The two clashed in a fierce battle, the intensity of the fight echoing through the forest. Despite her weakness, Freya fought with a raw passion, determined to protect those in danger. Orion struck her several times, but each attack seemed to awaken a new strength within her.

The fight was becoming a duel of souls, and Orion, even in his fury, didn't want to hurt her. He was the Alpha, but the connection between them grew stronger with each blow. Liana, noticing her friend's desperation, transformed into a beautiful wolf with bluish-white fur, positioning herself beside Freya, challenging Orion with a firm gaze.

The fearsome black wolf stared at the two, realizing that Liana was indeed no match for him. However, upon seeing his wounded mate, a sharp pain shot through his chest. He knew he should protect her, but the reality was that he was hurting her.

With a firm wave of his hand, Orion signaled for the wolves to retreat, allowing the men to walk away without further confrontation.

Freya passed out, and his heart skipped a beat seeing her fragility. Carefully and urgently, he lifted her into his arms, carrying her back home.

...****************...

Upon arriving at the pack, the Alpha carefully laid Freya, unconscious and wounded, on the rustic bed made of wood and animal skins. He watched her for a moment, a whirlwind of emotions forming within him.

The young woman was pale, her breathing shallow and irregular. The wounds that covered her body were serious and visible, each cut and bruise seeming to tell a story of pain and resistance. The priestess, a wise and respected woman among the wolves, approached, her gaze filled with concern.

"If she is not strong, if she cannot fight this, she will die" she exclaimed, her voice trembling with the gravity of the situation. Those words pierced Orion's thoughts like sharp arrows, each one striking his heart.

Frustrated, even while maintaining a firm and cold demeanor, the turmoil within him intensified.

Feeling suffocated by these thoughts, Orion abruptly turned and left the room, leaving her alone in an environment that now seemed darker than ever. The door closed behind him, and the sound of the bang echoed through the castle, like a sign of his inner struggle.
