Episode 10

The next morning I wake up and go to my bathroom, I do my morning hygiene, I lean over the bathroom sink looking in the mirror, thinking about what I've become, tomorrow I'm marrying someone who doesn't love me and I don't love, every girl dreamed of marrying a prince charming coming on a white horse! But not me, I just wanted to marry someone I really loved.

I leave the bathroom wrapped in a robe when I see Rafael inside my room.

Rafael - Good morning.

I get scared when I see him

Maya - Oh my God! - I cover myself even more with the robe.

Rafael - I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you.

Maya - Please, why don't you leave me alone?

Again I see that angry look coming over me.

Rafael - Why don't you make things easier Maya? Make it easier for me and for you?

He approaches me and I have no reaction, I'm afraid of him so I keep quiet and silent. He keeps looking at me, still, I didn't move, I was paralyzed. Rafael runs his hand over his eyes then looks at me saying.

Rafael - We're leaving in half an hour - He turns his back and leaves slamming my bedroom door only then I can breathe. My heart was racing, I almost had a fit! I take a deep breath trying to recover. Then I go to the closet to get dressed. I put on a strapless yellow dress, on my feet a sandal, I put on some makeup, I leave my hair down, I just roll the ends.

I put on my perfume and take my bag. I go downstairs carefully and go downstairs when I'm almost reaching the dining room I hear Julio and Rafael talking.

Rafael - I finished everything with Thays dad, you don't have to worry about anything, tomorrow I'll be married.

Julio - Great, I told you she was worthless son, after your wedding I'll be going on a trip, you'll have the house all to yourself! You need to consummate the marriage and show the board that you will be in the office. Please don't disappoint me, I'm counting on you.

Rafael - And I won't dad I promise.

I make a click of heels and enter the room. Julio gets up, Rafael turns to look at me.

Maya - Good morning.

Julio - Good morning dear! You look beautiful.

Maya - Thank you - Rafael just looks at me, he was wearing a white shirt and navy blue pants. Whoever sees him like this doesn't imagine the monster he is.

Rafael - Well, have your coffee, we have to go, Maya! - He turns his back and walks past me out of the room! I sit down to have coffee

Julio - My son may seem tough but he has a good heart.

Maya - Oh, I know, he must be very well hidden then.

He just looks at me, I drink my coffee in silence, then I go upstairs to brush my teeth and wait for my future husband who was in the office working, I ask Rosa to let me know that I was already waiting for him in the car. It doesn't take long, he comes wearing dark glasses, I have to admit, he messes with any woman. He has a unique beauty! He gets in the car, turns it on without saying anything, puts on his seat belt and drives off.

He drives his white Porsche 718 Boxster convertible through town with me by his side.

Maya - How beautiful this city is!

Rafael looks at me and smiles.

Rafael - You haven't seen anything yet. - I look at him smiling, this is the first time we have a decent conversation. He stops the car on a sand bank where there was a privileged view of a beautiful beach, he gets out of the car and I get out after him. Everything here is perfect, God sculpted this place with his hand!

Maya - Wow, it's breathtaking!

Rafael - Yes it is! This was my favorite place as a boy. - He speaks looking ahead. I knew him as a boy but I think he needed to grow up too fast maybe that's why he is the way he is!

Maya - Not today?

Rafael - Today I don't have time to come here and just stare like I am now. - Rafael doesn't take his eyes off the landscape, I keep looking at everything with him, down there on a beach I see some boys flying kites! I point to them.

Maya - Wow, that's very rare these days.

Rafael turns his gaze to the boys. With his hands in his pockets, he says.

Rafael - It is, well we need to go! - He gets in the car leaving me there alone, I smile and walk to the car, open the door and sit down.

Rafael - Put on your seat belt. - He starts the car and we go on our way. We arrived in the city, it was busy but calm at the same time, we entered a designer's studio.

Rafael - Good morning!

A very elegant woman came to greet us!

Woman - Buongiorno, benvenuto (Good morning sir, welcome)

Rafael - Grazie, questa e la mia fidanzata, non parla italiano (Thank you, this is my fiancee, she doesn't speak Italian)

Woman - Ah yes, welcome dear, my name is Giulia. - She holds out her hand, I shake it, greeting her.

Maya - It's a pleasure, Maya!

Giulia - Beautiful as the name! - She smiles at me. - Well, shall we try on your dress?

Maya - Yes, of course!

Giulia - My Don wait here, it's bad luck to see the bride's dress!

Rafael - Well, I'm going to buy some things while she tries on. Maya, don't leave here!

Rafael leaves, we both go upstairs to try on the dress.
