Episode 17

"What the hell is this, you son of a b*tch?!"

David kicks the door with great force and manages to open it. He finds Gustavo shirtless atop Amanda.

"Get off her, you son of a b*tch!!"

David pulls Gustavo by the arm and removes him from Amanda, who is extremely drunk and oblivious.

"The woman's drunk, you scum! You're despicable! (David says)"

"Get lost, man! Who the hell are you?!"

"I'm her stepfather, the owner of this house!!"

"Oh... you're her stepfather?! Oh… She… she wanted it, man, she invited me over! You know how women are!"

"Mr. David?! What's going on?! (Gonzalez the butler asks)"

"See to it that this piece of trash is removed from my house, Gonzalez! Now!!!"

"Yes, sir!"

"Hey, get lost, no need to touch me! I'm leaving!!!"

Gustavo exits and Gonzalez follows to ensure he really leaves.

"What's all this yelling about?! (Carmen says)"

"Nothing! A drunk guy causing trouble here! (says David)"

"What happened to Amanda?!"

"Nothing, just... drank too much, we brought her here!"

"Such a disgrace, looks like a drunken man!"

"Carmen, don't start! Come on, let's let her sleep!"

"Ugh, I regret throwing this party! A bunch of rowdy teenagers, no class at all!!"

David and Carmen go downstairs.

"Where are you going, David?!"

"Outside to take care of something!"

David heads out into the midst of the party, and Carmen refuses to leave, staying in the living room.

David walks through the crowd until he finds Gonzalez.

"Where's that idiot, Gonzalez?!"

"He's already left, don't worry! But what happened?!"

"He was harassing drunk Amanda! He locked the door and was alone with her in the room."

"Wow!"

"Don't say anything to Carmen, she'll blame Amanda knowing how she is!"

"As you wish! I won't say a thing!"

"And please, it's getting late and the party's over, the birthday girl has gone to sleep, so the party's done. Take care of shutting it down for me, please, and send Marina to Amanda's room!"

"Yes, sir!"

Gonzalez finishes the party and ensures everyone has left. He asks only Marina to stay and enter. Upon entering the house, Marina finds David on the couch.

"Marina!"

"Hi."

"That Gustavo guy was harassing drunk Amanda in the room! He locked the door and stayed there alone with her. If I hadn't seen it and gone up there, something horrible could have happened!"

"Is… is that so?!"

"Very serious! You were the one who invited him, weren't you?! You should be careful who you associate with! That guy is no good! Never bring him here again, and definitely not near Amanda!"

"Yeah… okay! Yes, sir! Is… is Amanda okay?"

"She is! She's passed out drunk! Go take care of her!"

"Yeah… okay! Goodnight then… David!"

David talks to Marina very seriously, leaving her frightened and uncomfortable. She heads up the stairs awkwardly feeling David's stern gaze from behind.

She enters the room and sees Amanda sleeping deeply. She arranges Amanda properly in bed, removes her shoes, and then covers her. Marina removes her clothes, puts on a pair of pajamas she brought in her bag, and lies down next to Amanda.

THE NEXT DAY...

Marina wakes up before Amanda, freshens up, changes, and waits for her to wake up before heading downstairs. Amanda wakes up nearly an hour later.

"Hmm.. Wow... (Amanda says, waking up)"

"Friend? Are you okay?"

"My head..."

"Does it hurt?! I’ll go look for some medicine downstairs!"

"Okay..."

Marina descends and meets David on the stairs.

"Did she wake up? (David asks)"

"Yes! She's got a terrible headache!"

"I'll get some medicine. Come with me!"

Amanda follows David to his room. She waits at the door, admiring David's beautiful and luxurious bedroom.

"Here! Tell her to take both pills at once, okay? And take this bottle of water to help swallow them!"

"Okay, thank you!"

Marina gets the medicine and returns to Amanda’s room.

"Friend, here, take these, take both at once, okay!"

"Okay!.. I really drank a lot, huh?! I'm"dead,"my body feels heavy, not to mention my head!"

"Yep! This time you really tied one on, haha!"

"Yep!"

"Do you… remember what happened last night?!"

"What do you mean?! Of course, I remember, haha, don't be silly! Last night was my birthday party; I drank and danced up a storm!"

"Yeah but... And after the party?"

"Well, I came to sleep!"

"That's it?!"

"Yes, why? Did something happen?!"

"No! (Marina responds a bit awkwardly)"

"Marina? I know you; what happened?! Spill it! Ow... my head!"

"Relax, lie down, it’ll get better!"

Marina tells her about Gustavo.

"What?! Are you serious?!!"

"Yes! Sorry, I had no idea he was a jerk who does that kind of thing! It's my fault; you should have seen how David spoke to me, he was really angry, friend, he still is, actually! I was the one who invited Gustavo!"

"He shouldn't have spoken to you like that; it's not your fault! Relax, friend, it's over; nothing happened!"

SOME TIME LATER...

Amanda feels better and comes downstairs. She hasn't had breakfast yet.

"Good morning, Amanda! What the hell was that last night?! You got plastered like a man! (Carmen says)"

"Oh, Mom, leave me alone and keep it down!"

"Carmen, let her be!"

"Ugh, I'm going to see Mrs. Arlete!"

"Hi, Mrs. Arlete, is there anything left for me to eat? I couldn’t make it down for breakfast!"

"Hi Mrs. Amanda, there is, yes. There are fruits, cake, bread... Or would you like me to prepare something fresh?!"

"I'll have some fruit; I'm not very hungry."

"As you wish, Mrs. Amanda!"

Marina keeps Amanda company. After eating, Amanda and Marina are leaving the kitchen but run into David.

"How are you feeling? Is your headache better? (David asks)"

"Marina, could you give us a moment?"

"Of course, friend, I... I'll go outside for some air!"

Marina leaves, giving them privacy.

"Why did you speak to Marina that way yesterday?!"

"What way?!"

"She told me how you spoke to her because of Gustavo!"

"Well, look at the guy she brought to my house! Look what could have happened to you!!"

"I know, but it's not her fault! You didn’t have to speak to her like that!"

"Ah, Amanda, it was her who invited him and you should be thanking me. If I hadn't gotten there..."

"I know, okay! I get it, but Marina didn't know he was like that or she obviously wouldn't have invited him!"

"Whatever!"

"Go apologize to her!"

"What?!"

"You didn't have to be so rude to her!"

"And you’re not even going to thank me?!"

"Thank you, David! Now apologize to her!"

Amanda says this and heads to her room. David complies and goes to apologize to Marina.

"Hey, sorry for the way I spoke to you yesterday. It's just... I got pissed seeing that idiot on top of Amanda; it was the heat of the moment, my apologies!"

"Ah, it's okay, I understand; don't worry about it, David!"

"I'm serious, I really am sorry; I was very rude to you!"

"It's okay, really; relax, David!"

"Your friend, she's... she's got to me, that woman is..."

David pauses, realizing he's said too much.

"You can say it, haha, she tells me everything about you two! (Marina says)"

"Ah, of course, I should have known; you probably don't keep secrets from each other, haha! It's just that seeing that idiot on top of her, I... jeez!"

"I get what you mean, haha."

"But anyway, I'm sorry and... Amanda is in her room if you want to go up there!"

"Alright, thank you!"

LATER...

Amanda is in the yard talking to David.

"I’m sorry, young lady, I just went crazy seeing that idiot on top of you! Damn, imagine how I felt, the guy on top of my wom... on top of you while you were drunk!"

"You were going to say my woman? Haha."

"Yeah haha sorry!"

"Haha, I... really, thank you for saving me, David! I honestly don't remember anything; I... guess I just got carried away, haha."

"Indeed, you did get carried away, young lady! Be careful not to drink like that when you're out, you were lucky you were at your daddy's house!"

"Oh, indeed, such luck! Thank you, daddy, for looking after me!"

"Of course, I'll take care of you, 'ocean eyes!'"

"Are you going to call me that from now on? I might get used to it!"

David kisses Amanda on the forehead and hugs her.

"Get used to it, 'ocean eyes!'"

As they are about to kiss...

"Mr. David? (Arlete arrives and sees them)"

"Ah... Arlete... Uh..."
