Antonio and Kenya wore expressions of great annoyance due to the words of Susie and Keyza, but they tried to mask it, as they had come to that place intending to cleanse their reputation.
"You can't treat me that way, Keyza," Kenya said, with arrogance.
Keyza shook her head and glared angrily at her sister, but realized there were many people around, all watching her every move. A photograph captured in a compromising scene could be troublesome, as it might be taken out of context, which was a significant issue for her. Therefore, she chose silence, understanding that sometimes it's better to remain quiet.
"Let's go somewhere else, Keyza," Fausto suggested.
Kenya eyed her sister's attire with curiosity, taking particular note of what seemed to be a vintage-style wedding dress and the bouquet Susie held. She wanted to ask about what Keyza had done during the days her whereabouts were unknown, but Keyza avoided her like the plague.
"Keyza, wait a moment, please. I need to talk to you," Antonio said, trying to reach out and grab her arm.
Keyza stepped back, maintaining a dignified stance that earned admiration from onlookers, much to Kenya's irritation, who needed her to act in a shameful manner.
"Antonio, I think you've said enough. You've made your bed, now lie in it," Keyza stated.
Keyza turned away and continued on her path, and some acquaintances began to whisper and suppress smiles as the unfaithful couple was left looking ridiculous while Keyza, on the contrary, was admired for her dignified attitude. Kenya, unable to bear her sister shining, immediately followed her, trying to grab hold of her.
"Keyza, sister, please forgive me. I never meant to hurt you," Kenya cried out desperately.
Rafael ended his call, very pleased because his employees assured him the apartment would be ready in a couple of hours. He walked towards the entrance only to realize they were already returning, and Kenya was chasing after Keyza. He frowned, knowing nothing good could come from this situation.
"Stop following me, Kenya," Keyza warned.
"Mom is really worried about you," Kenya said with a mournful tone.
"Leave her alone for good," snapped an angry Susie.
Kenya felt someone watching her from a distance and realized it was Rafael. She flashed a shy smile, but was taken aback when he looked at her with disdain and returned the smile cynically.
Antonio was concerned Keyza might react violently towards Kenya, so he hurried after Kenya. Contrary to his concerns, Keyza ignored her sister's provocations.
"Why did you follow Keyza?" Antonio asked Kenya.
Kenya was a master of manipulation and pretended to be deeply hurt by Keyza's contempt.
"I can't bear my sister hating me," Kenya said, feigning sadness.
Antonio looked at her tenderly, buying into Kenya's performance.
"Just give her time, darling," Antonio said without emotion.
At that moment, Antonio was deeply confused, a state he had been in for the past two months since learning of Kenya's pregnancy. On the one hand, he wanted to go after Keyza, but on the other, he chose Kenya, with whom he could have the family his parents demanded for him to inherit the family business. So he embraced his future wife, pretending he was unaffected by encountering his ex.
"Calm down, Kenya, remember that stress harms the baby," Antonio said resignedly.
Antonio watched as Keyza, Susie, and Fausto headed towards Rafael, who was waiting for them, and scowled, always despising that man. One of the things he enjoyed most about his affair with Kenya was making the man a cuckold.
"Why did you all come back?" Rafael asked.
"Don't ask, Rafa, let's just leave this place," said Susie, irritably.
Rafael looked at Keyza, who remained silent, visibly angry, which he disliked seeing. He took her hand and walked toward the parking lot.
"How about we go to the pub?" suggested Rafael.
"Rafael, it's your wedding day, so don't be so stingy," Susie complained.
Keyza looked at her friend, now sister-in-law, who had always been supportive as if she were family. She placed a hand on her shoulder and smiled.
"Susie, I agree with Rafa," Keyza said.
The group arrived at Rafael's pub, where the staff, busy preparing for opening time to get the apartment for the newlyweds ready, greeted them.
"Boss, you're early, and it's not ready yet," said the bartender.
Rafael wasn't upset, knowing it was impossible they would finish so soon, but they had to change plans and return earlier, so everyone started helping to finish faster.
"What's this?" Rafael inquired.
On the bar were boxes with various types of beer Rafael was trying to promote.
"The samples arrived today, and the person in charge said they'd call you to discuss business," the bartender informed.
Rafael smiled at the good news; he had been trying to reach this individual for months, and they had finally succeeded.
"Do you have anything to do with this?" Rafael asked Keyza.
Keyza was determined to succeed, so despite everything happening around her, she kept pushing her business.
"You could say that," Keyza replied.
Rafael embraced her tightly to the surprise of everyone there.
"Thank you so much, Keyza."
"Don't celebrate just yet; no deal has been signed," Keyza cautioned.
The apartment Rafael mentioned was near the pub, almost unknown, making it ideal for the couple to move in.
"Do you like it?" Rafael asked with interest.
"It's beautiful, Rafael," Keyza said, admiringly.
Rafael held her by the waist, showing her the place they would call home.
"From now on, this is your home as well," Rafael declared.
Susie and Fausto, also present, were surprised by how well the two got along. After the tour, the four opted for pizza and beer.
"Did you ever imagine getting married this quickly, Keyza?" Susie asked, curious.
"Honestly no, I thought I would never marry," Keyza admitted.
"I'm so happy because now we're truly family."
Keyza hugged her friend.
"Susie, I've always considered you my family."
Fausto and Rafael discussed their plans for the coming days.
"I hope neither of you regrets this madness," Fausto commented.
"Fausto, just take it easy," Rafael replied with a goofy smile.
