Grizelda returned their stares with little concern for their opinions.

"Here's the room," the landlord said, unlocking the door for her.

Peering inside, Grizelda observed a bed, a single wardrobe, and a tiny kitchenette just big enough for one person.

"It's fine, I'll take it," Grizelda nodded her agreement.

"Alright then, here's your room key," the landlord handed over the key to Grizelda.

"Thank you, ma'am," Grizelda accepted the key gratefully.

"Well, there are lots of students here, hopefully, you can be friends with them," the landlord said with a smile.

"Sure, ma'am," Grizelda nodded.

"I'll be off then, hope you settle in well," the landlord then departed, leaving Grizelda alone.

Grizelda entered her new room and immediately closed the door behind her.

From their earlier glances, she could tell they weren't exactly welcoming.

Laying down on the bed, Grizelda gazed up at the ceiling.

Grizelda looked over at her laptop, pressing on the icon and watching as it materialized from its system.

"Owww!" Grizelda yelped when the laptop fell on her face.

"Ouch! That really hurt," she complained, sitting up to rub her sore nose.

She picked up the laptop and opened it.

"Wow… this is really fantastic, an actual hologram," Grizelda marveled at the laptop screen, which projected images that seemed touchable.

Grizelda began to interact with it, considering what kind of business she might start.

"Aha, I could invest some of my money in stocks. I'll invest in BQA bank," said Grizelda.

She transferred her funds to the bank to buy shares, hoping for additional profits.

"Hopefully this amount is enough for me to get by," Grizelda hoped.

There was a knock at her door. Grizelda frowned slightly.

She approached the door and cracked it open.

"What is it?" Grizelda inquired, peering out.

"You're new here, right? So you need to pay the welcoming fee," said a tall woman, with quite a few other students watching from behind her.

"Welcoming fee? What's that?" Grizelda asked.

"Yes, the welcoming fee, it's a sign that you're staying in this boarding house. Do you understand?" the woman's eyes widened menacingly.

"How much?" asked Grizelda.

"Not much, just 100,000," she replied.

"I'm not going to pay," Grizelda refused.

"Hey! You can't be like that! Everyone who rents here has given me 100,000. It's unfair for you not to pay. Just give me the money," the woman demanded, stretching out her hand.

"Ask your parents for it," Grizelda said, closing her door sharply.

Bamm!

Grizelda shut her door with a bang that startled them all.

"Damn it! Hey! Give me the money now or we'll beat you up!" the woman shouted while banging and kicking Grizelda's door.

Grizelda ignored her, letting them do as they pleased.

"Well, time to rest," said Grizelda, plugging in her earphones and playing music to help her sleep.

Grizelda's sleepiness vanished as she awoke to the evening dimness. Checking her phone, it was already 06:42.

"Eh, it’s already nighttime?" Grizelda rubbed her eyes.

Krucuk! Krucuk!

Krucuk! Krucuk!

"Ah, I'm starving, I need to find food," Grizelda said, clutching her belly.

She left her room, finding the place quiet, assuming the others were still in their rooms.

"Ah, who cares about that," Grizelda locked her room door and headed out onto the street in search of food.

Walking down the road, Grizelda looked for street food and soon spotted a satay vendor. Approaching the satay cart, she took a seat.

"One portion of satay, please!" Grizelda ordered.

"Okay, do you want rice flour sauce or peanut sauce?" the vendor inquired.

"Rice flour sauce," Grizelda answered.

"Coming right up," the vendor quickly prepared the dish, cutting lontong rice cake into a plate and pouring the sauce over it while an assistant fanned the satay on the grill.

"Enjoy," the vendor served a plate of satay in front of Grizelda.

"Thanks," Grizelda eagerly began eating her meal.
