"Such audacity!" the ladies exclaimed, completely outraged.
"Oh, my god!" squealed a teenage girl in the crowd. Her high-pitched voice caught the attention of more than one adult, who turned to look at her, thinking something had happened. In the end, they only found a teenage girl dressed in orange, with long hair flowing down her back. She was about fifteen years old. She looked like a little princess, delicate and expensive.
"Why are you complaining, girl?"
"Isn't it obvious?" she asked indignantly, although she only received confused looks from everyone. She stomped her foot on the ground, throwing an adorable tantrum. The annoyance was visible. "Don't you know the story of young Noah and his boyfriend Victor?"
The guests looked at each other, not understanding. Was there a story? They didn't know! After all, gossip was something only children were interested in. They didn't have the necessary time to waste on the love lives of the younger generation.
"What story?" inquired a well-dressed lady. It was evident that she loved to hear and collect good gossip.
Noah, on the other hand, saw the girl and wanted to stop her, as the whole situation was too raw, and he didn't want a minor to be involved in such scandalous topics. But although he wanted to keep her away, the little princess looked him straight in the eyes. Sadness and pity were almost palpable at first sight. The boy had never received a look like that, and he was curious to know what she would say.
As he looked at her more closely, he felt the girl looked familiar. And then he remembered. In his past life, she was one of his main adversaries whenever he made a public appearance. Anywhere. In the mall, at a banquet, in work meetings. He never knew why she argued with him so much, what the enmity between them was... or how his bad luck was such that they met so frequently. And now she was defending him?
The girl did not disappoint and soon began her narrative with pain. Tears were about to run down her rosy cheeks.
"I am a student at Santa Elena High School, in the second grade."
"Is it necessary to tell your academic background?" complained a beta next to her. The princess looked at him disapprovingly. The difference between them was evident at first sight, but despite the fact that the man was an adult, he was silenced by the girl's gaze.
"Hmm," she scorned, and soon resumed her words. "As I was saying! It is the same school that young Noah attended. And in our school, everyone knows the story of the Prince and the Beast. It is very famous."
"Is that all? Just a children's tale?" grumbled an alpha. The princess looked at him with the same disdain as before and continued as if she had not heard anything. "That is the love story between young Noah and young Victor, you can imagine who is who."
"Why is a teenage romance so famous in your school?" asked the well-dressed lady with interest, who had encouraged the girl to speak in the first place.
"After all, they fell in love despite their status and in a highly unfavorable environment. Everyone knows how young Noah pursued young Victor, who always seemed to despise him; and how despite that, he saved him time and time again from the bullying he suffered because he was not from the upper class. Over time, mutual feelings blossomed between them, and they began their romance. I understand that for a little over two years now, they have been boyfriends."
"True...I remember there was a commotion about something like that a while ago," some ladies said thoughtfully. "A rich boy and a poor boy who fell in love."
"For many of my classmates, it's a fairytale love story, it was even for me. But..."Here the tears began to fall down the cheeks of the princess, and she turned indignantly towards the unfaithful alpha, pointing at him. "But I never imagined that young Victor was a liar! Young Noah saw him and fell in love when he had nothing, and now he comes with another omega to claim his surname. On top of that, he slept with that other man not long ago! The most outrageous thing is that everyone knows it was young Noah who sponsored the alpha. Thanks to him, he was able to enter the same university as young Noah!"
A collective "Ah" traveled through the crowd, and the ladies couldn't help but cover their mouths with their hands, as if they had never heard of a story of infidelity and deceit. It seemed that these revelations were the most scandalous they had ever heard in their lives.
Noah saw how public opinion seemed to have changed, all thanks to the words of a girl who had previously despised him.
""Wait, did she really despise me?"* He wondered as the girl blushed when he looked at her closely. *"Isn't she just a fan who turned into a hater thinking I had cheated on my boyfriend?""
"Being unfaithful to young Noah...it's clear it comes from the lower classes"some murmured with contempt. "Nothing like a child raised at home. Whether by blood or not, he has the education that outsiders will never have."
Victor heard the harsh words, and though he wanted to refute, all he could do was grit his teeth. Because he knew better than anyone the difference between his status and that of these people. Yes...by chance he turned out to be the son of a great family, but he grew up far away. To tell the truth, he didn't have much confidence in winning the love of his biological parents.
Even worse was that because of that girl, he couldn't stop thinking about the beginning of his story with Noah. He always saw him as a burden, but was it really so? A bitter feeling overwhelmed him. Why was he doing all this?
He didn't know what to think, so he could only remain silent, and didn't even consider contradicting the curses of the others.
"Furthermore, according to Erminia herself, the boys were switched at birth. Can young Noah be blamed for that?"some others reasoned, returning to the topic that had brought them together in the first place, but with a different perspective. "It's not as if a newborn baby can change cribs if he wishes."
"Sleeping with a close friend's boyfriend, and believing you have the moral superiority to demand the family position, and in a public event..."Voices traveled from one topic to another. It was obvious that the guests were thoroughly enjoying themselves.
"How convenient! He gets the man, and then the surname"a woman said from the back, although she tried to keep her voice low, it was perfectly heard by the reprimanded couple.
"No! That wasn't my intention."Angel defended himself. He wanted to keep talking, however Erminia pinched him which made him quiet.
Victor saw the situation turning against them, and stood up, leaving the omega and his mother on the ground. Standing, he was a tall and handsome young man. Several who had been cursing him felt intimidated and their voices decreased significantly.
"This is not our fault"the alpha said confidently. "We didn't plan it, we just realized we were destined as soon as we met..."
Noah almost burst out laughing again at the stupidity with which the alpha was trying to justify himself. He couldn't believe they were giving him more ammunition to attack them.
Yes...if this were his first life and he heard this for the first time, his heart might have broken never to recover. It's just that he had already lived and suffered much more, that what was happening now just seemed like a ridiculous child's play.
Unaffected on the inside, he let the tears flow from his beautiful gray eyes again.
"Are you telling me you've been deceiving me for five months? I was the one who introduced you, Victor!"The alpha's face contorted in shock. Hearing those words so directly was a shock.
Especially the true meaning of his words. He had deceived Noah for months! No one else, he had done it. He realized he was wrong, but did it matter? The hurt look in Noah's eyes told him no.
In that instant Victor felt as if a blindfold that had been preventing him from reasoning was torn from his eyes, and only then could he appreciate in all its glory the ugliness of his actions, and most importantly, his unpleasant attitude towards the beta. The one who had been the only light in his life for so long.
