Episode 5

ALLANA

After he kissed me against my will, I bit him hard, to teach him a lesson for being abusive and presumptuous. Then he raised his hand to hit me, and I shrank back in fear. A blow from him could shatter me completely.

He glared at me with such fury that my heart raced with terror. If he struck me, I would completely fall apart, given his hands were larger than my face.

But I refused to lower my gaze; I was determined to show that, despite my fear, he wouldn’t control me—he wouldn’t just caress me and expect me to melt away.

He left the room, hand pressed to his mouth. I must have done some serious damage; I could even taste blood in my mouth. Delightful—I guess I might enjoy being a vampire.

I took the paper he had handed me and read it again. He must be insane to think I’d marry him like this. I planned to say "No" so loudly that he’d be the one embarrassed, and I’d have my turn to laugh in his face for his foolishness.

Sitting on the bed, I began to cry. This wasn’t the life I chose for myself. I didn’t want to be trapped here. I had fled my uncle’s house only to end up in the home of a madman because that's what he seemed to be: a lunatic, possibly one who had escaped an asylum.

I cried myself to sleep and woke to a woman shaking me vigorously. Opening my eyes, I saw a group of people barging in, pulling me out of bed, starting to get me ready for this accursed wedding.

I felt completely disinterested. Their mouths moved as though they were speaking to me, but I paid them no attention and made no effort to understand.

Still, I entertained the thought of saying a resounding "no" in front of his guests. It would be so satisfying to witness his dumbstruck expression.

Once I was all dressed up, a man entered my room and escorted me to the garden.

There was a floral arch, and my "future husband" awaited there, smiling as if this were a wedding of two lovebirds.

As we approached him, he maintained his smile, but now I could see it was fake. But I refused to play into it. My smile would be absent.

He handed me a piece of paper to read.

—"Better put a smile on that face before I put two clamps on your cheeks, forcing them into a grin."

I instantly gave him a smile as fake as his own.

After some time, the priest began speaking; he turned to me with a grin, saying "yes." I looked at the priest and realized he was asking the marriage question.

He squeezed my hand hard, and I managed to say "yes" out of pain, which made him let go.

Damned infuriating man.

The reception unfolded, and he grabbed a glass to drink. He offered one to me, and I declined.

He huffed but continued to hold the drink out.

I eventually took it, tasting just the tip of my tongue, finding it bitter and unpleasant.

But I kept holding it to avoid making a scene, pretending to sip whenever he looked away, spilling some behind me when he wasn’t looking.

He went around greeting everyone, introducing me, the person merely touching my hand and smiling—strangers to me.

We greeted everyone until we were seated, appearing like the king and queen of Egypt.

Looking at him, I could tell he was as bored as I was.

He gestured for me to stay put and stood up, heading over to one of the female guests, and they went upstairs.

That piqued my curiosity—where could they have gone?

They took their time returning, he came down first, followed shortly by the woman trying to fix her disheveled hair.

I glanced at him and noticed his lips smeared with lipstick.

He didn't even look at me, just stared straight ahead. He kissed her—I couldn't believe he cheated on me on our wedding day.

He eventually stood up, heading to the restroom alone this time.

I was hungry, so I got up to grab something to eat, and the blonde who had gone up with him approached me.

I glanced at her briefly, filled my plate, and moved away, heading back to my seat.

He returned shortly, looking tired, giving me a weak smile.

I focused on the hors d'oeuvres, eating again.

He even helped himself to some from my plate.

Gradually, people started leaving, leaving just a few behind. He kept drinking, not stopping for a moment.

Eventually, he took my hand and stood me up, guiding us to the bedroom.

It's unclear whether he was leading me or if I was guiding him—he was drunk.

He led me to the same room he had kept me locked in, sat me on the bed, and signaled for me to wait.

He took his time, then emerged from the bathroom, hair wet, only a towel wrapped around his waist.

He approached me slowly, and I retreated up onto the bed, but as I tried to move to the other side, he pulled me back, dragging me beneath him.

I struggled to free myself, squirming, and when I felt something hard between my legs, panic surged through me.

He held my arms above my head with one hand and caressed me with the other.

Pulling my arm free, I managed to release one hand, but he quickly turned me onto my stomach and lay on top of me, his member now pressing against me.

I thrashed about, and he used the pillowcase to tie my hands behind my back, his hands roaming over my body.

ALLANA

—"Please don't do this."

He kept stroking me, from bottom to top, parting my legs to lie between them. I tried to escape his grasp, but he pulled me back.

He placed his hand on me, beginning to stroke, and I closed my eyes in fear, praying he wouldn't do this to me.

A warmth pressed against me, and when I peeked, he had his mouth there, leaving it wet with his saliva.

I clamped my legs shut, but he pried them open, and I felt something odd, a sensation that was almost pleasant but overshadowed by utter terror.

He rose, and I felt him apply something before a sharp pressure, followed by an indescribable pain, until I felt his groin against me.

He stayed still, his breath hot in my ear, and I started to sob.

He withdrew only to thrust again, more harshly this time. His rhythm was forceful, causing our bodies to clash painfully.

Suddenly, he slowed, pressing deeply, and released warmth inside me, then paused while I continued to cry and heave sobs.

He untied my hands and lay down next to me, stripped bare, and as he turned his head aside, closing his eyes to sleep on his back, I was left in the darkness of the room.
