Alucard was at a loss for how to ensure Susana would stay with them from that moment on. Deep down, he knew he couldn't just grab her and take her home, although that was what he desired. She had to be aware of everything that happened before they could be together, to understand why he did what he did. But to explain it to her now, without even keeping her heart captive, was something he knew would make her hate him instead of love him. Patience was key, he had to tread carefully to not lose her again, this time potentially forever.
Pondering for a logical way to keep her close, he falls into a thoughtful silence, merely admiring the beautiful woman fate had brought into his path. She hadn't changed since the last he saw her; her large almond eyes and long golden hair captivated him, entranced as if an angel stood before him. But if she were an angel, then he was a demon, and Susana would need to accept his vampiric nature too.
"Mr. Alucard..." Susana bites her lip, a little awkward because of the silence between them. She notices Carlinhos's father's appreciative gaze and immediately blushes. "If you'll excuse me..." There was a sexual tension between them; she couldn't explain it, but her body tingled just from his gaze. "I... have to go."
"No, mommy!!!" Carlinhos instantly whimpers, clutching onto Susana's leg tightly.
"Carlinhos..." Susana is moved again by the affection from the boy, knowing his loss too, and ignores the fact that he continues to call her mother; after all, he must miss his own dearly and doesn't usually pay her such attention. In her heart, she even liked it. Embracing the boy tightly, she kisses his face affectionately and adds, "I don't want to go either...but I have things to do."
"Daddy…" Carlinhos whimpers, imploring with his eyes glistening with pending tears. "I want to stay with mommy."
"I know, my son." Alucard looks at his boy, his chest aching. He kneels before him, caresses his face tenderly. "But today it's not possible..." Winking, he adds, "Soon, I promise!"
"Let me at least walk you home," Alucard suddenly rises, facing his future spouse.
"There's no need, Mr. Alucard." Susana stands up, smiling shyly. "I'll stay here; I have shopping to do before my audition."
"Please…" Alucard exhales deeply. The emotion of being near her was palpable, and he immediately tries to mask some of his feelings. "Call me Alucard... drop the Mister." He flashes a smile. "It makes me feel... far too old."
"I didn't mean to." Susana grins foolishly, trying not to melt like ice cream in the sun at the wonderful smile of the handsome specimen before her. "Alucard..."
"Susana…" Alucard quickly brings his hand to his chest. Just hearing her say his name like that, the sensation strikes him hard, promptly conjuring more intimate scenarios where she would call him likewise. He really couldn't let her go, not yet. "What is your job?"
"Well... at the moment... nothing." Susana feels a bit embarrassed. Rubbing her hands, she's nervous as she declares, "I... am an actress... but still between auditions for a show."
"That's very good," Alucard smiles crookedly, thoughtful before asking, "Could I ask you a favor?"
"Well... I... guess so." Susana responds but without much confidence, she had asked her mother to meet her and couldn't miss that now, yet saying no to the two seemed impossible.
"I have a meeting nearby..." Alucard pauses, finding Susana charming, and can't help but gaze at her, her flushed face captivating him "... But as you see…" He looks to Carlinhos. "My son isn't very obedient. Could you stay with him for two hours?" Carlinhos immediately widens his eyes and grins broadly. "I'll pay you 1000 euros..." His gaze is sultry. "... Plus a dinner... with... the three of us."
"Yes, mommy..." Carlinhos hops into Susana's arms, pleading excitedly. "Say yes..." Clutching Susana's neck, he adds, "I promise to be well-behaved."
"Well..." Susana is so taken aback by it all that she doesn't know how to respond.
"Excellent." Alucard smiles pleased, taking Susana's hand, gifting it with a kiss before backing away and winking at Carlinhos. "We'll meet right here, in two hours."
"See you later, daddy…" Carlinhos calls out, unable to hide his joy. "Mommy, where do we go now?"
"I don't know..." Flustered, Susana places Carlinhos on the ground, looking around. "Let's have some ice cream." She grins broadly as if struck with a brilliant idea. "Which flavors do you prefer?"
"What's an ice cream?" Carlinhos frowns, looking at his lost mommy.
"You've never had one?" Susana is astonished as she looks at the boy.
"I haven't!!!" Carlinhos says sadly, looking at Susana. "But I want to!!!"
"But why has your daddy never bought you one?" Susana shakes her head, taking the boy’s hand and immediately heading to an ice cream parlor.
"I think it's because we're different!!!" Carlinhos says, eyes wide at the sight of the glass display full of colorful containers.
"Different how?" Susana looks at him, eyebrows raised. "Do you have some kind of allergy?"
"No..." Carlinhos huffs, ready to say that he's a vampire and only drinks blood. But then he thinks better of it; if he did, he wouldn't be able to taste ice cream, and his father would be mad. He always said humans couldn’t know about their existence because they'd kill what they didn't understand, whether good or bad. Sighing and unsure what else to say, he smiles broadly. "Daddy says we're different because of our teeth."
"Teeth?" Susana grows more puzzled. Kneeling down, she examines Carlinhos' white teeth and then sees that some are sharper and larger than the rest. It might be some genetic anomaly; perhaps Alucard, despite his beauty, felt aberrant compared to others.
Sighing, she shakes her head, thinking how much prejudice still exists in the world. Could Alucard have faced social ostracism due to his odd teeth? Her heart immediately aches for him and his son. Looking at Carlinhos again, taking him in her arms, she broadly smiles, showing him every flavor available there. With her, he would face no discrimination; he would be like any other child, and if anyone dared to say otherwise, she would defend and protect him, with tooth and nail if necessary.
