CHAPTER 6

Questions : how your family is like?

(Third person's pov)

He was done. Optimally bored and really confused as to what the rector was yapping. Taehyung simply nodded his head, alongside the few other students who had been convened. They were all undoubtedly falling asleep due to Mr Park's monotonous tone and his panoply of unimportant pieces of information. The group had gotten the main point of this call - being among the most brilliant students and staying on campus for the upcoming school holidays; they were expected to academically help out those students who seemed to lag behind and who were themselves staying back.

It was for the second consecutive year which Taehyung had been given this responsibility. That wasn't the easiest of tasks. He remembered having to beg the students who were under his authority to show up on time at the library. It goes without saying that most of them never showed him their faces. It was a tiring job but he never dared denying the rector.

It was somehow also an activity that kept him busy and prevented him from falling back into depression. Jimin would be visiting his family in Busan on and off, Chaeyoung would be staying with hers in Gwangju and Jin would be busy at his parents' restaurant, hence he was going to end up all alone if he did not find something to keep him busy.

The trio had each proposed to him to spend the vacations with their respective families but he had to turn all of them down. Firstly, it felt like he was abusing the kindness of his friends and secondly, he didn't particularly enjoy seeing other families united while he had no one.

Mr Park ended his monologue with a large smile directed to all his most brilliant and intelligent gems.

"You guys are the future of this school!" The old man stated with fake enthusiasm.

If he wasn't directly facing the man, the youngster would have rolled his eyes at the statement. How even was he and his schoolmates supposed to be considered as the future of the establishment? They were all going to leave the premises and pursue further studies in one or two years. The probability that they came back to work as teachers was nearly zero. Taehyung at least knew that he had higher aspirations.

The principal flipped through a folder in front of him before finding a page he had appeared to be looking for. Taehyung understood that it was the list of students who were going to be sort of assigned to each one of them. The lad waited impatiently for his turn, having the only desire to get away and off he would be sprinting to his room.

He watched and listened carefully in search of any familiar names.

"Kim Taehyung, you're going to work with Mia Sandler who is one of our foreign exchange students and has difficulties in speaking and understanding Korean, and Min Yoongi, another new comer who nevertheless does perfectly fine academically talking. You've got to help out the girl with her Korean and make sure the guy copies and completes all the notes he has missed since the beginning of the year."

Taehyung should have been happy hearing such great news. After all, he didn't have much to do and was going to assist one of his new friends. Nonetheless, he wasn't. The boy was experiencing yet another mental breakdown which often happened to him ever since the unfortunate incident that hit him three years ago. He didn't have any exact triggers for his down state of mind but all he knew was that they occurred pretty frequently. Somehow, nobody never noticed except for Jimin once in a while. The younger would then resolve to lying to him and telling him all was fine.

He nodded his head frantically before bowing and exiting the office once he was dismissed. Clenching his diary close to his chest, he walked down the empty school corridors. Classes had ended since a while and the afternoon sun pierced through the various windows and openings. There was nobody except for him. Weirdly, he felt a certain degree of serenity and peacefulness. He could even hear the sounds of nature outside; appreciating it even more when he exited and was greeted by grass and trees.

His unclouded state of mind was quick to transmute to annoyance when he crossed the yard and reached the dormitories. He wasn't exaggerating when he compared the building to a zoo. Even though a rough approximation of half the student's population was absent - probably hanging out in the city; it was still chaotic and unpleasant. He hated it - hated that eerie and disturbing feeling of suffocation he was experiencing.

In spite of the mild annoyance he was enduring, he still smiled at the security person who let him in without checking his bag whatsoever. Kim Taehyung was known by everyone to be a goody two shoes who would never carry inside illicit substances like other crackheads.

He crossed the door and immediately collided with someone who looked like he was running away. The impact had been so abrupt and not so gentle that he stumbled backwards and crashed against the door before falling down. The violent pupil had already exited, leaving Taehyung to compose himself on the floor as he picked up his diary which had fallen down. He shouldn't have been that affected by something as futile and petty as that. Yet; he was. Terribly. Horribly.

It felt like the straw had been sucked too hard. The pressure grew so big that the small plastic object could not withstand it. It collapsed. The straw was Taehyung. And he was collapsing. Badly.

He got up; legs quivering and eyes watering. He rambled about how the male could have apologised while he tried his level best not to let it all out. It was a disturbing fact - that all of a sudden, he experienced sudden mood changes like a girl on her period and everything managed to render him sad and make him hate his existence. If nothing had happened three years back, he was pretty sure that those mood swings would never be occurring. He needed help but he refused to seek it.

He felt excruciating discomfort as he walked down the narrow corridors with a myriad of closed doors on either sides. He wasn't fine. He felt vulnerable and exposed even though nobody was truly paying real attention to him.

He turned left, then right; having lost count of the number of doors already crossed. On his way, a few individuals recognised him - calling him all sort of names which he was now used to. Nothing too mean; almost harmless and causing him no significant sort of pain. Those dorks were the least of his priorities as he struggled to keep his tears inside.

What did he want to cry about? Because someone collided with him and he was forcibly thrown backwards? Because someone had called him ugly one week ago? Because he was being forced to teach students when he should be enjoying his holidays? Because he had no say in anything and allowed people to abuse of his kindness a lot? Because he felt alone despite being surrounded by people who genuinely loved him?

It was a combination of all those things. He had reached breaking point but he still struggled to hold on. He had to. He could not create a scene.

The nerd was lulled by the sound of his shoes clacking on the floor as he walked down the alleys. He was proceeding forward with a sort of angry determination as he allowed his feet to hit the ground underneath. He wasn't mad or anything of the sort. He was just done. Very done. With everything.

He was starting to trudge a bit far, turning way too many corners and passing by what looked like a lot of doors. He walked by Jimin's room; then his room and yet he continued with his steps.

Taehyung didn't stop until he reached a certain familiar door. Realisation dawned upon him. Why on earth was he in front of Jungkook's door as if it was the most natural thing to do? He exhaled and looked around in a panicked way. To his relief, the surroundings were empty and silent.

He debated on his next move. For some strange reason, his mind and body had led him to Jungkook and he wanted to pursue further now that he was already there. Of course, the possibility of walking in to the elder with his friends or with a girl was still present but Taehyung could then figure out an excuse. Saying that he was lost was the most plausible and safest thing to say.

He didn't think twice before pushing open the door without knocking. It felt exactly as if his body was reacting to a stimulus - the reaction was involuntary; seemingly controlled by some sort of reflex arcs.

The younger was hailed by a shirtless Jungkook on his bed, his phone in hand. The latter was bewildered and confused upon seeing who was standing at the threshold.

"Nerdy? What are you doing here?" He asked; not quite believing his eyes. Only Chan entered his dorm as if he owned the place.

The said guy awkwardly entered before closing the door behind him. He watched as Jungkook got off his bed and stood at a distance from him. They were eye to eye and the elder fellow was staring at him, clearly in search of answers.

Instead of furnishing what Jungkook had asked for, Taehyung laid his bag down and zipped it open to put in his diary. Mentally, he was thinking of something rational to say but he was finding none. He himself didn't know what he was doing there. The only logical explanation was to blame it on the war of hormones experienced by teenagers of their age.

He slowly got back up, leaving his bag down on the floor.

"I-I... Are you... In the mood?"

It took Jungkook a few seconds to understand what he meant. The younger was too timid to even ask for sex straightforwardly. Yet; it turned Jungkook incredibly on. How could he refuse sex to the most pretty boy he knew? In addition, it would be egoistic of him if he refused Taehyung when it was the first time the latter was even initiating any sort of intimate contact.

"****... C'mere baby..." He murmured sensually.

Taehyung's heart melted at the nickname. It was a change from the mean and harsh stuffs others usually called him.

He marched forward, locking eyes with the other and suddenly, it was all that mattered. Him. Jungkook. Them.

Everything else became blurred around him.

He was quick to relax under the faintest touch as he felt the elder's arm wrapped around his waist and pulling him closer until their lips met.

Taehyung saw sparks and wondered what the heck was happening. He had experienced special feelings with Jungkook in the past but nothing ever came as strong as that. He couldn't explain it. It was... Strange? And they weren't making out yet; they were just kissing in its purest state.

If he had to try to describe his emotion, he would define it as a feeling of exceptional adoration. For once, it seemed like someone wanted and accepted him for who he was without any other motives. He felt needed and wanted.

Taehyung experienced an abrupt spasm of all sort of emotions which he had to let out. He did it in the only way he knew - by the means of tears.

He allowed the liquid to spring out freely as he tried to concentrate on the other's lips against his own and on the way his hands were gripping his ***. Despite it feeling heavenly, the emotional built up prevented him from enjoying the experience to the fullest. The boy let out a puny sob which was consumed by Jungkook's mouth.

It was only when the aforementioned felt a watery substance caress his cheeks that he pulled away. His previously darkened eyes softened at the sight. Taehyung was a crying mess - eyes tightly shut and hand flying to his mouth to prevent his loud wails from escaping. He looked broken and vulnerable. Jungkook's fists unintentionally clenched as he started thinking of all the reasons the other boy could have for being reduced to such a state. Immediately, his first thought was that someone had hurt the fragile male.

Jungkook didn't know how to react. It was the first time he was confronted to a crying person of his age group. He let his instinct take over and almost naturally wrapped his arms around the younger's waist to pull him flushed against his toned chest.

"Hey... It's okay... Let it all out..." He whispered soothingly.

Taehyung reciprocated the movement by wrapping his own sleek arms around the stronger guy's neck. The position was extremely comfortable for the two of them. For once, the younger felt something right in his life.

Jungkook was careful when his hands rubbed pacifying circles onto the intellectual's back. The latter's face was buried into the crook of Jungkook's neck while his crying was not decreasing for anything.

The elder was seriously getting worried. He envisaged the worst of scenarios. He knew that the only way he would find out what was off was by asking. Regardless, he waited until the younger's whimpers were reduced to little sniffles and hiccups.

They stayed in their exact position; consuming each other's body warmth in an equally hot weather. Neither of them seemed to be minding.

"Do you want to tell me what happened?" Jungkook questioned cautiously. The last thing he wanted was to brusque the crying boy in his arms.

Taehyung pulled away before sitting on the bed. He was promptly joined by the elder who wouldn't leave him alone for anything. The eyes of the hiccuping male were red and his cheeks were tearstained and glossy. Was it weird that Jungkook felt the strong need to protect him at that instance?

"A-a whole b-bunch o-of things... It-it eventually got too m-much for me to handle..." The crying chap confessed; slightly above a whisper. His voice was rogue and even more deep than usual. In other circumstances, Jungkook would have found this hot.

The elder was understanding him perfectly. He was relating on a deep emotional level. He, without any doubts, knew what it felt to allow all sort of things to accumulate until one day, everything ended up exploding. The mental time bomb wasn't at all a myth. The male thought that it was unfair for a person as kind and attaching as Taehyung to be experiencing such things. That aspect of life wasn't something he particularly needed to see.

Yet again, it was completely unconsciously that Jungkook led the other's head to his shoulder before proceeding to place his legs onto his laps. He cradled Taehyung like a baby, rocking him back and forth. That was what his gut feeling had told him to do and he hoped he was doing things correctly. He was far from being a pro at comforting people.

Their breaths eventually evened out while soft caresses inserted themselves into the comforting process. The elder swore he had never done this for anyone else. But Taehyung deserved it - he deserved to be appeased in the calmest way possible. He deserved to feel okay.

Jungkook waited for as long as necessary for Taehyung to calm down. He didn't know what else to do except holding him as close as possible. When he experienced mental breakdowns, he would have sex but he doubted that was the younger's thing.

"Is there anything which you like to do when everything crashes down like that?" The elder queried.

The other lad was silent. Reflecting even. Was there something he liked to do when things weren't okay? He liked sugar - a lot - but he doubted Jungkook could provide that. He was even somehow embarrassed to voice his harmless - at least, so he thought - addiction to sucrose.

Then, it occurred to him. There was something; something which he couldn't get anymore.

"When I was younger, I used to slow dance with my mother in the kitchen when either of us was feeling down. It was fun, filled of love and happy memories."

The elder's heart melted at the confession. It was absolutely adorable.

"Are you going to meet her this summer?" The shirtless male asked.

It was silent and he wondered whether he had fucked up somewhere by asking this. Taehyung's hands which had been previously caressing his bare arm was now immobile. The elder was about to apologise for asking a personal question but was cut off by the younger's cold answer.

"No."

Jungkook definitely had fucked up somewhere by querying about the nerd's family but what exactly had he made resurface, he didn't know. He could feel the way Taehyung was tensed in his arm and he knew the boy would cry again if he did not act fast.

In the blink of an eye, he was up, phone in hand; leaving a perplexed Taehyung trying to comprehend what was happening, on the bed. He watched as Jungkook busied himself with his phone before he heard soft guitar music reverberating throughout the chamber. He was quick to recognise the song - Paper Hearts by Tori Kelly. The elder placed the device on his table and stretched his arm forward.

"May I?" He requested.

How could Taehyung even deny? He grabbed the other's smaller hands and allowed himself to be guided in the middle of an untidy teenage bedroom. The following movements came naturally; as if they were used to dancing with each other often. The elder's arms were wrapped around the sleek boy's waist while the latter had his arms wrapped around Jungkook's neck. Being relatively of the same height, they ended up facing each other directly.

There was something in Jungkook's eyes which had Taehyung's body parts feel all jelly. He couldn't feel his legs as he slowly moved from right to left; in sync with the music which appeared to be so far away in his mind. All that mattered was the guy with whom he was dancing; the same person looking at him as if he was seeing what was underneath the glasses, underneath the skin and underneath an imaginary wall.

The room felt like it had been sucked of its oxygen content. Alongside the music, the elder started humming lightly. The humming turned to actual words. Jungkook was singing. And his voice was breathtaking.

I hate this part, paper hearts and I'll hold a piece of yours...

Taehyung wanted to compliment the other's beautiful voice but nothing was coming out. Instead, he surprised himself by gradually and deliberately starting to move closer. The distance between their faces was getting reduced with each passing millisecond. Their lips inched dangerously closer.

What the **** was nerdy doing!?

Jungkook pulled away abruptly, snapping Taehyung out of his trance.

****. They almost kissed. They were about to kiss when they weren't even having sex with each other; which was the only moment kissing was allowed.

Taehyung had fucked up and he knew it. He had ruined something unwillingly by initiating a kiss which thankfully did not happen.

"I'm s-sorry..." He baffled.

Jungkook was disconcerted; realisation slowly getting to him.

"Are you feeling better now?" The aforementioned fellow asked awkwardly before turning off the music.

"Yeah-yeah. Thank you. I'll... I'll just get going. Thank you."

And he was gone. Just like that. Taking his bag and sprinting through the door
