(Third person's pov)

Taehyung absolutely loved school unlike most people of his age. He may hate the dormitories with all his soul but the school establishment was a different story. The building looked like it came straight out of a movie and it was actually really pleasant to be in such environment. His high school was one of the few places which he held close to his heart and he knew it would be difficult to let go next year and move forward into tertiary education but he had to.

He valued his education a lot. He knew that was the only thing which could help him out of his current shitty situation. He had to depend on people who did not even like him. He missed his parents a lot.

He knew he had to work hard; get a good paying job and become independent. He eventually wanted to settle down with someone, have pretty little kids and shape the happy ideal family he used to have in the past. He planned for a beautiful future, knowing he would manage just fine if he focused on his studies hard enough. That was his driving force - the only thing that kept him going, else, he would surely have given up long ago.

Taehyung was currently at the cafeteria, paying for his fruit salad when he felt strong arms wrap around his shoulders. By solely glancing at the fingers, he knew who it was - Jimin.

"Buy me one!" The latter exclaimed, not actually meaning it.

The elder was not that surprised when his younger best friend asked the serving lady to give him another bowl of salad.

"No no! I was kidding Tae!"

It was however too late, Taehyung was already paying for the second salad before dragging both of them to their usual table.

"You should eat more fruits and veggies Chim! All the junk you force down your throat ain't gonna do good to you stupid!" The younger reprimanded as he laid his food down on the table.

"Look who is talking!" The chubby guy teased; knowing well about his friend's sugar addiction.

They took a seat next to each other, joining their friends who were already lashing onto their food like cavemen. Chaeyoung was in a deplorable state - dark circles under her eyes and overall, a highly neglected appearance.

"Sup Chaebie?" Jimin asked teasingly.

The girl looked up from her plate of pasta; left eyebrow cocked in perplexity. Of all the nicknames she had inherited from the guys, 'Chaebie' was never one of them.

"Where the **** does this Chaebie come from?" She questioned, not furnishing a single effort to censor her vulgar language. That was always the way Chaeyoung used to talk - crude and distasteful. Her stare was so intense that it could even pierce through souls and her words were always sharp. She had a lot of tact unlike the boys she befriended.

"Did you look at yourself in the mirror this morning? You look like a freaking zombie! Chaeyoung plus zombie gives Chaebie!" Jimin explained further in a triumphant tone as if he had thrown the best pun ever.

It was no surprise when Jin bursted into an uncontrollable laughter; giving to the whole canteen a first class seat to the sound of his windshield laugh. Only he could guffaw at such stupidity. The two others simply rolled their eyes; exchanging a sweet smile when they realised their similar reaction.

"Nice one!" The eldest exclaimed as he held his tummy.

"At least I'm tall!" The female retorted while smirking at the concerned individual.

What had started off as an innocent fight, soon became a violent bickering session. In the midst of his friend's nonsensical arguments and insults, Taehyung caught sight of a certain person, black jacket thrown over his uniform while he walked accompanied by two orange-haired guys, another dull looking silver-haired one and at least five girls. Something caught his attention; something he did not particularly like. Right on Jungkook's milky white neck, was a huge purple hickey which he was sure did not come from him. Their heated interrupted session of the previous afternoon had been too brief to allow those things to occur.

For some unknown reasons, the younger felt a pang of jealousy in his stomach; his throat tying and his huge hands unintentionally clenched in fists. Deep inside, the lad knew he had no right to feel this way. After all, Jungkook was supposed to mean nothing to him aside a person who took care of his sexual needs. Yet, he couldn't help wishing it was his doings, imagining his lips biting and sucking that exact spot to leave a beautiful reddish bruise that would show for a while. The timing so happened to be a perfect one for them to make eye contact.

Taehyung rapidly deviated his stare, fearing that his facial features would betray an annoyance he had no right to feel. The boy instead leaned his head on Jimin's shoulder, devouring a strawberry while he tried focusing on his group's ridiculously stupid talks concerning the one who looked worst in terms of physical appearance as compared to the others.

In the twinkling of an eye, their conversation shifted to Eunwoo's party and how Chaeyoung's crush - whom she would not tell the guys anything about - kept on clinging to some random girl while royally ignoring her.

"Conclusion; I'm not attending a party anymore!" The girl squealed.

"You realise you say that every time Chae..." The youngest pointed out, obtaining approval grins from the two other chaps. Chaeyoung was whipped for parties. That was a huge difference between her and the boys but that did not stop them from building the most adorable friendship ever.

There conversations were always versatile and they swiftly shifted from parties to Jin's most recent student council's meeting. It was a shock for the youngsters to learn that the school was planning to renovate their dorms during the holidays without requesting for their money. That was way more than a miracle.

"Where are those who stay within the school premises during vacation going to sleep then?" Taehyung smartly pointed out.

"I don't know but I heard that since you guys are small in number, you'll probably be temporarily assigned an athlete's room." The student's council president responded.

To that, Chaeyoung rolled her eyes theatrically.

"Don't be ridiculous Seokjin! You know those assholes; they'll most likely lay mattresses into the common hall and cram us all inside, hoping we don't die of suffocation at night. Not like it's gonna be their problem if we expire anyways."

The female's analysis was on point but would indubitably be refuted by Jin, who venerated the rector as if he was God himself. The girl could not quite relate to the horrid situation of her male friends in terms of dormitories though. The girls' sleeping quarters were clean and pleasant to live in but she still understood her friends' struggle and would take their sides no matter what. Often, she would sneak in and they would watch movies in Jimin's room with Taehyung, therefore she knew the conditions of the bedrooms in the boys' side of the arena.

Seokjin was about to counter argue when their talk was interrupted by the nearing of a black haired guy. His skin was snowy; almost sickly pale and he looked like he was sleepwalking or something. His attention was on nobody except Jin.

"Hey! Yoongi!" The latter called out.

The newly approached fellow smiled shyly at the one who had called out his name before timidly bowing at the others.

"Guys, meet Yoongi; he's new. Yoongi, the microscopic one we have right here is Jimin, next to him is Taehyung, our favourite geek and that idiot of a troublemaker right next to me is Chaeyoung."

They all nodded, flashing their prettiest smiles to the guy while mentally cursing the eldest for introducing them in such a lame way. Chaeyoung even went to the extent of hitting his leg under the table.

"Yoongi's in some of your classes. The principal made him repeat for his own good. He's actually a genius, might even steal your class topper position Tae!" Jin informed further.

The jest was purely harmless but Taehyung still felt offended. He was not good at much and studies was the only thing he could claim as being a prodigy in. He did not want that thing to be snatched from him else he would have nothing more to hold on to. Except maybe Jungkook but he would never admit it out loud.

That ugly feeling in his stomach dissipated when he looked up and met Yoongi's warm and beguiling smile which was enough to melt his weak heart. Now that he was looking at him more intensely, the boy was indeed handsome. He had nice features and sort of looked like a cute cat. His cheeks were squeezable just like those of Jimin and he was even short too. It looked like Jimin had found himself a twin.

Taehyung grabbed his friend's arm and pulled him closer to allow their new acquaintance to have a seat with them. The aforementioned geezer did exactly that; relaxing now that he had found new friends which appeared to be fun and multifaceted in their personalities.

They introduced themselves properly, in an attempt to erase Jin's very biased introduction. Above all, first impression was everything.

"I'm Kim Chaeyoung and I'm not at all a troublemaker like how this asshole is portraying me! Sure, I did vandalise a few school properties once in a while but I swear I'm a good girl."

Nobody was believing her, not even Yoongi but that was where the fun resided. It was crystal clear that she was just being sarcastic.

"I'm Park Jimin and I'm a little hoe. I hit on everything that moves. I also had to ask, did it hurt?"

"When I fell from heaven?"

"Nah baby. When you fell from the vending machine. Because you a snack!"

Jimin was smirking while the other boy rolled his eyes, seemingly unfazed by the pathetic pick up line. Ultimately, Yoongi turned to Taehyung, some sort of excitement and high expectation displayed in his stare.

"Oh, it's m-my turn?" The youngest stuttered awkwardly. He was not very used to those introduction stuffs; usually, someone would be doing that for him.

He gulped harshly, composing himself and sorting his thoughts to filter what he could and could not say. I **** the most handsome guy at school almost every night was definitely out of the list.

"I'm K-Kim Taehyung and I am boring."

The remaining four cooed at his brief endearing phrase. His best friends however corrected him, giving him proof that he was far from categorising as a boring person.

"Taehyung's our innocent angel and I'll kill the person who lays a finger on him." Seokjin informed in a warning tone. Nobody touched his Taehyung without his permission. They were all very protective of him and they had their reasons. The chap was often terribly bullied in the past and yet, he managed to stay the nicest person on earth. At times, they babied him too much but that was because they wanted to protect the gem that was Kim Taehyung. If ever they got to know about the other side of him, the side which only Jungkook was entitled to see, deception would indubitably follow. Nevertheless that did not mean he regretted anything that was happening between him and the elder.

The group talked and discovered more about each other for as long as time allowed them to. Yoongi presented himself; Taehyung gladdened to find out that the boy was from Daegu, just like him. The new comer even brought light as to why many people got enrolled in the middle of the year - apparently, it was a school's policy to accept students at this time of the year since that was exactly when foreign students usually enrolled.

Resumption of class ended their animated conversation. Jimin and Taehyung were headed to biology, Chaeyoung had maths alongside Yoongi and Jin was the only one having a free period. Nonetheless, none of them seemed to be wanting to part ways - their chat was way more interesting and vivid. While the youngest was busy walking backwards and talking at the same time, he collided with someone and almost fell down due to the sudden strong impact. The person he had collided with sure was stronger and taller than him.

"I-I'm sorry. Excuse me." He apologised, bowing to the male whose face he was too embarrassed to look at. He fixed his glasses on his nose, eventually peering up to meet the person's huge angered eyes. Taehyung did not know who it was but that individual looked like he wanted to murder him.

"Can't you watch your step you ugly piece of shit?" The tall boy yelled.

Ugly. Someone had ended up relating him to that word again after so many years of him struggling to get rid of the epithet. He did inherit a great amount of ridiculous nicknames in the past but that specific one was the most hurtful. It brought back horrendous and awful souvenirs which Taehyung did not particularly want to remember.

The fellow's heart hammered in his chest while his lips started quivering slightly. All the years he had spent rebuilding his self confidence were going to drain by the mere use of the forbidden word 'ugly'. Logically, he should not have been that affected but his hurtful past did not give him any other choices.
