Ep 14
she is sitting in the car.
The car is silent, but her mind isn't. She is sitting near the window in the car dim light, she absent-mindedly twists the ring on her finger.
It had been an exhausting day - being presented as the prime minister's wife.
But now she is in the car, instead of resting, her mind drifts back to the moment everything changed.
When she finally gathers courage to talk to her father that he will stop this marriage but how that day her father backed her into a corner.
She had built that company from the ground up.
When it was drowning, when no one believed in its survival, she did. She fought for funding, restructured the business, and made it an empire. Yet, when her father spoke to her that day, it was as if none of them mattered.
She stood in her father's office, frustration burning in her chest.
Maura Davis (FL)
I don't want this marriage, and you know it.
Her father, a man known for his ruthless business tactics, simply leaned back in his chair, unfazed.
Andil Davis (FL father)
And I don't want to see my daughter ruin herself over stubborn pride.
Her finger curled into fists .
Maura Davis (FL)
Ruin myself? By refusing to be a pawn in your political ambitions?
His expression didn't change.
Andil Davis (FL father)
No, by thinking you can stand against me.
Her breath hitched as he picked up a file from his desk - her company's financial records.
She knew that file well. It contains years of struggle, of victories, of everything she had done to turn a dying business into one of the country's strongest enterprises.
He flipped through the pages casually, then looked at her with a smile that wasn't warm - it was victorious.
Andil Davis (FL father)
If you refuse, I will take everything and give it to your brother.
Maura Davis (FL)
*She froze* you wouldn't.
You know I can the board stIll listen to me. Legally, the company is still under my control i allowed you to run it, but don't mistake that for ownership.
Maura Davis (FL)
*her heart pounded* I made that company what it is.
I saved it.
His voice remained calm, cruelly logical.
She felt trapped, her breath shaking. This wasn't a father talking to his daughter. This was a businessman closing a deal.
Andil Davis (FL father)
Marry the prime minister *he said, finality in his tone* or lose everything you built.
