Chapter 13
The first few days in the Stevenson mension passed in a blur. Darren was barely home, always at work, leaving before she woke up and returning late at night. If he did home early, he barely acknowledged her presence.
His father, Mr Stevenson was a calm and composed man, often trying to balance the household. But even he seemed to tread carefully around his wife.

*smile* Naya, your my daughter now. But a daughter-in-law must know how to menage a house.
At first, it seemed normal—helping with small tasks, arranging things in the kitchen, serving tea to guests. Naya didn't mind. She had always been strong-willed, and if this was what expected, she would do it without complaint.
But as time passed, the weight of expectations grew heavier.

*Pout* Bhabhi, my stomach hurts, can you do my work too? Please? It's just few assignments and some laundry clothes.
At first, Kristen would smile and say, "See? You're such a responsible girl" but soon it stopped being a request—it became an expectation.

You're young naya, you should help your sisters.
Mr. Stevenson would sometimes try to step in.

Let her rest, Kristen. she's still adjusting.
But Kristen would wave him off.

Women need to be strong. I did everything when i was a bride.
The brothers barely noticed. The middle brother, buried in his medical books, never looked up. The youngest was always out—studying, meeting friends, sneaking off to see his secret girlfriend.
And Darren? He wasn't home enough to see any of it.
For now, Naya bore it all with patience. She had fought worse battles before. She wasn't weak. Because deep down, she knew—this was still not worse.
