Chapter 12
Then came the rest of the family
[Kawi Stevenson, the elder sister, 24 years old]
Kawi Stevenson
So, this is our new bhabhi. *look naya up and down, smirk*
Perila Stevenson
She's so small, feels like we got another sibling, not a bhabhi.
[Perila Stevenson, The middle sister, 20 years old]
Aniti Stevenson
*Smile* You are so beautiful, bhabhi.
[Aniti Stevenson, youngest sister, 18 years old]
[Bitris Stevenson, middle brother, 19 years old, studying to be a doctor, barely looks up, uninterested]
[Nanson Stevenson, youngest brother, 16 years old]
Nanson Stevenson
*grin* Welcome bhabhi. Hope you servive this madhouse! *teasing tone*
Kristen ( Grandma )
*Place hand on her shoulder* Your my daughter now. I'll take care of you, don't worry.
Naya nodded, a small flicker of relief of her chest. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad.
the rituals began. Naya performed the Griha Pravesh, nudging the kalash filled with rice as she stepped inside. Evelyn circled water around her, muttering some blessings before stepping away. The choora on her wrists clinked softly as she moved through the ceremonies. Everything felt mechanical, distant—like she was watching someone else live her life.
Once the rituals were over, the relatives slowly dispersed, and Kristen turned to her with a warm smile.
Kristen ( Grandma )
You must be tired. Go to your room and rest.
Naya nodded and walked upstairs. The room was grand, larger than anything she had ever seen, yet it felt cold—just like him. Darren was already inside, standing by the window, his back turned to her. Without looking at her, he spoke.
Darren Stevenson (19)
Don't expect anything from me. ❄️
Naya didn’t reply. She sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the flower garlands hanging from the ceiling. A mockery of what this night was supposed to be.
