Episode 7 – "The Big Trial"

Episode 7 – "The Big Trial"

Scene 1: A New Challenge

(Ebere arrives at Cherryville Academy early, her heart pounding. Today is her trial day, and she knows she has to impress everyone. As she enters, she sees Mr. Jeffery, the Vice Principal, waiting for her.)

Mr. Jeffery (nodding at her): "Good morning, Ebere."

Ebere (bowing slightly): "Good morning, sir."

Mr. Jeffery (gesturing for her to follow him): "Come with me. I want to introduce you to someone."

(They walk down a hallway and enter a classroom where a tall woman with dark skin, a warm smile, and a very curvy figure is writing on the board. She turns around and gives Ebere a curious look. Her name is Miss Tochi, an English teacher.)

Mr. Jeffery (to Miss Tochi): "This is Ebere, the new assistant teacher. She’s here for her trial today."

Miss Tochi (smiling brightly): "Ah, Ebere! Welcome! You are very beautiful, oh." (She eyes Ebere playfully.) "And you have a shape like mine. Big, bold, and confident!"

(Ebere laughs shyly, feeling a little more at ease.)

Miss Tochi: "Don’t worry, I will help you. For today, you will assist me in my Year 8 English class. You will see how we teach here. But from tomorrow, you will have your own classes. You will be the English teacher for Year 2 to Year 5 in the Primary School. How do you feel about that?"

Ebere (eyes widening): "Me? A real teacher?"

Miss Tochi (laughing): "Yes, now! You think we brought you here to sit and do nothing?"

Ebere (smiling nervously): "I am happy, ma. I will do my best."

Mr. Jeffery (nodding approvingly): "Good. Now, pay attention to Miss Tochi’s class and learn. Tomorrow, your real work begins."

(Ebere feels a rush of excitement and nervousness. This is her chance to prove herself.)

Scene 2: Observing Miss Tochi’s Class

(Miss Tochi turns back to the board and begins her lesson for Year 8. The topic for today is "Parts of Speech." The students are seated properly, their books open.)

Miss Tochi: "Alright, class, today we are reviewing parts of speech. Who can remind us how many parts of speech we have?"

(A student named Samuel raises his hand eagerly.)

Samuel: "Eight, ma!"

Miss Tochi: "Good! And can you name them?"

Samuel: "Noun, pronoun, verb, adjective, adverb, preposition, conjunction, interjection!"

Miss Tochi (clapping): "Excellent! Now, let’s go deeper. Ebere, can you explain what a noun is?"

(Ebere hesitates, then takes a deep breath and nods.)

Ebere: "Yes, ma. A noun is a word that names a person, place, thing, or idea. For example, ‘school’ is a noun because it is a place. ‘Teacher’ is a noun because it is a person."

(The students nod, impressed. Miss Tochi smiles approvingly.)

Miss Tochi: "Good job, Ebere! You see, teaching is not so hard. You already know these things."

(Ebere feels a spark of confidence. Maybe she really can do this.)

Scene 3: The Decision

(After the class, Mr. Jeffery calls Ebere to his office.)

Mr. Jeffery: "Ebere, I watched you today. You did well."

Ebere (smiling shyly): "Thank you, sir."

Mr. Jeffery: "So, from tomorrow, you will be the English teacher for Year 2 to Year 5 in the Primary School. That means you will teach students from about 6 to 10 years old."

Ebere (nodding quickly): "Yes, sir. I will do my best."

Mr. Jeffery (firmly): "Good. Be patient with the children, but also be strict when necessary. And most importantly—speak proper English, no pidgin."

Ebere: "Yes, sir. I understand."

Mr. Jeffery (smiling slightly): "Alright, then. Welcome to Cherryville Academy, Ebere."

(Ebere feels a wave of happiness. She did it! Tomorrow, she will officially start her job as a teacher.)
