Episode 13 – "The Private Tutoring Offer"

I'll keep the focus on Ebere's experience as a teacher and tutor while maintaining a professional and respectful tone.

Episode 13 – "The Private Tutoring Offer"

Scene 1: A New Opportunity

(Ebere was walking home after a long day at school when she noticed a woman standing near the school gate, waiting for her children. The woman, elegantly dressed in a blue gown, smiled as she approached.)

Mother: "Good afternoon, Miss Ebere."

Ebere (smiling politely): "Good afternoon, ma."

Mother: "My name is Mrs. Williams. I’ve heard great things about you from other parents. You’re a very good teacher."

Ebere (humbly): "Thank you, ma. I just try my best."

Mrs. Williams: "I need a home tutor for my children. I’ll pay ₦10,000 per week, which is ₦40,000 per month. Would you be interested?"

(Ebere's eyes widened slightly. This was more than her school salary!)

Ebere: "Yes, ma. I’d love to!"

Mrs. Williams (smiling): "Great! You’ll start tomorrow—Saturday."

Ebere: "Alright, ma. Thank you so much for the opportunity."

(Mrs. Williams gave her address, and Ebere left, excited for the extra income.)

Scene 2: Saturday Morning – The Staff Meeting

(Ebere arrived at school early for a scheduled staff meeting. She saw Miss Gloria, the vice principal, standing at the front of the room, waiting for everyone to settle.)

Miss Gloria: "Good morning, everyone. Let's begin. Today, we will discuss discipline, classroom management, and the upcoming mid-term tests..."

(The meeting went on for about an hour. Ebere paid attention, but in her mind, she was also thinking about her tutoring session later that day.)

Scene 3: Heading to Mrs. Williams’ House

(After the meeting, Ebere followed Miss Franca out of the school. Miss Franca was also going in the same direction, so they decided to go together.)

(As they were about to leave, a black SUV pulled up. Inside was Perfect, one of Ebere’s mischievous students.)

Perfect (grinning): "Miss Ebere! Where are you going?"

Ebere (raising an eyebrow): "Madam don call me. I have somewhere to be."

Perfect: "Ah, okay. See you later, Miss!" (He waved as the car drove off.)

(Ebere shook her head, then took a keke (tricycle) towards Ugbor Village Road, Ankra Junction to reach Mrs. Williams' house.)

Scene 4: Encounter with Perfect Again

(When Ebere got out of the keke, she was surprised to see Perfect walking alone.)

Perfect: "Miss Ebere! Have you seen my brother?"

Ebere (shaking her head): "No, I haven’t. Where is he supposed to be?"

Perfect: "I don’t know… Can you walk me home?"

(Not wanting to leave a student alone, Ebere agreed. As they walked, Perfect started acting strange—getting too close.)

(Ebere gently pushed his hand away and kept walking. When they reached his house, he ran inside, and she sighed in relief.)

Scene 5: The Tutoring Session

(Ebere reached Mrs. Williams' house and was warmly welcomed. Mrs. Williams introduced her two daughters: Isabella (Primary 1) and Favour (Kindergarten 3).)

Mrs. Williams: "These are my daughters. Please be patient with them. They need help with reading, writing, and maths."

Ebere (smiling): "Of course, ma."

(She sat down with the girls and started the lesson. She taught Isabella simple reading and writing, helping her spell basic words. With Favour, she focused on numbers and letter recognition.)

(After teaching, she helped them with their homework—math exercises and a short writing assignment.)

(Two hours later, Mrs. Williams came back to check on them.)

Mrs. Williams: "Thank you so much, Miss Ebere. The girls really like you."

Ebere (smiling): "It was a pleasure teaching them."

(Mrs. Williams handed her the payment for the week, and Ebere left feeling proud and accomplished.)
