Kai gently closed the giant storybook, its golden-edged pages glowing faintly in the warm candlelight. He looked down at the small dragon curled up in his lap—his and Valentino’s oldest child. The little one, a mix of Kai’s white feathers and Valentino’s golden scales, stared up at them with wide, curious eyes.

“So… was that the end of the story, Papa? Daddy?” their child asked, tilting their head.

Valentino chuckled, wrapping an arm around Kai’s waist. “What do you think, little one?”

The baby dragon pouted, their tiny tail flicking behind them. “Hmm… it sounds like the end, but it feels like something’s missing.”

Kai raised an eyebrow. “Missing? What do you mean?”

The little dragon flapped their wings, clearly excited. “Well, if this is how you and Daddy met, then what happened after? Did you go on more adventures? Did you fight scary villains? What about the other people you met—do they still visit?”

Kai and Valentino exchanged a knowing look. Valentino smirked before ruffling their child’s fluffy hair. “Oh, trust me, little one, your Papa and I had plenty of adventures after that.”

“Really?!” The child’s wings fluttered in excitement. “Tell me! Tell me more!”

Kai sighed dramatically, shaking his head. “It’s already way past your bedtime.”

The baby dragon’s eyes grew big and pleading. “Please, Papa?”

Valentino leaned into Kai’s ear and whispered, “They definitely got that look from you.”

Kai groaned. “Ugh. You and your golden puppy eyes.”

Valentino grinned. “And yet, they work every time.”

Kai let out a small laugh before turning back to their child. “Alright, alright. How about this? We’ll tell you another story tomorrow night. But for now, you need to sleep.”

Their child pouted but nodded, snuggling deeper into Kai’s arms. Their tiny claws clutched onto his shirt as they mumbled, “Okay… but it has to be a really good one.”

Valentino kissed the top of their head. “Only the best.”

As their child’s breathing slowed, Kai gazed over at Valentino. The warm candlelight reflected in his golden eyes, making him look just as breathtaking as the day they met.

“Can you believe it?” Kai whispered. “Everything we went through… and now we’re here. A family.”

Valentino gently reached out, brushing a strand of hair from Kai’s face. “Yeah… but I wouldn’t change a single thing.”

Kai smiled, his heart swelling with warmth. “Me neither.”

Valentino leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to Kai’s lips. It was slow, filled with years of love and promises of forever.

The candlelight flickered softly, wrapping the family in a golden glow as the night stretched on. Outside, the stars sparkled brightly—just like the love that had brought them together.
