A sweet remember

Kai burst through his front door, panting as if he had just run a marathon. His sister sat on the couch, casually munching on popcorn, and barely spared him a glance.

“You look like you’ve seen a ghost,” she said, stuffing more popcorn into her mouth.

“I think I did,” Kai wheezed, collapsing onto the couch beside her. He clutched his chest dramatically. “He remembers! He actually remembers!”

His sister smirked, pausing the drama she was watching. “Sooo, when’s the wedding?”

Kai groaned. “THAT’S NOT THE POINT!”

She raised an eyebrow. “Uh-huh. Sure it isn’t.”

Kai buried his face in his hands, mumbling into his palms. “I ran away. Again.”

His sister gasped. “Oh my god, you’re a tsundere!”

Kai lifted his head with a glare. “I AM NOT—”

“You totally are.”

“I—” Kai paused, thinking about his life choices. Then, he groaned even louder and flopped backward. “Oh no, I am a tsundere.”

His sister cackled. “This is the best thing that has ever happened to me.”

As Kai lay there, questioning his entire existence, his phone vibrated with a text.

Vallentino: You left too fast, love. Should I bring you something sweet to calm your nerves?

Kai threw his phone across the room.

His sister gasped. “DID HE JUST FLIRT WITH YOU?”

Kai buried himself under a pillow. “I hate everything.”

She grinned. “You mean you love him.”

From under the pillow, Kai let out a long, suffering groan.

Kai peeked out from under the pillow, his face still burning. His sister was practically vibrating with excitement.

“So, what did he text you?” she asked, reaching for his phone.

Kai shot up and snatched it back. “Nothing! Nothing at all!” He turned his screen off and shoved the phone into his pocket.

His sister smirked. “Ohhh, so it’s that kind of nothing.”

Kai groaned and stood up. “I need air.”

He stormed out of the house, hoping that the cool night breeze would help clear his thoughts. But just as he turned the corner—

SMACK.

Kai stumbled back, rubbing his forehead. “Ow! What the—”

A familiar deep chuckle made his stomach flip.

“Running away again, love?”

Kai froze. Slowly, he looked up to see Vallentino standing in front of him, holding a small pink box with a golden ribbon.

“I thought you might want something sweet,” Vallentino said, smirking. “Since you did run out of my bakery like a flustered little bunny.”

Kai’s eye twitched. “I am NOT a bunny!”

Vallentino leaned in slightly, his golden eyes gleaming mischievously. “Mm… sure you’re not.”

Kai’s face turned ten shades redder. “W-Why are you even here?!”

Vallentino held up the box. “Because I know you didn’t eat dinner, and you tend to sulk when you’re hungry.”

Kai blinked. “…How do you know that?”

Vallentino’s smirk softened. “Because I’ve always known you, Kai.”

Kai’s breath hitched. His heart betrayed him, doing an excited little flip.

“Just take the pastries,” Vallentino added, holding the box out. “Unless you want me to feed you myself?”

Kai snatched the box so fast it nearly ripped. “I CAN FEED MYSELF, THANK YOU.”

Vallentino chuckled again. “Of course, love. Sleep well.” He turned and walked away, leaving Kai standing there with his brain melting into mush.

Kai looked down at the box, then back at Vallentino’s retreating figure.

“…I hate him,” Kai muttered under his breath.

Then he opened the box. Inside were neatly arranged pastries, with a small note that read:

"For my flustered little bunny. Sleep well, love. —V."

Kai screeched and nearly threw the box across the street.

Because I am a snitch, I will tell Kai‘s sister what Valentino sent him through text.
I am only doing this because I love you Kai, and you must be honest with your family.(🤣)
