Kai stormed into his house, slamming the door behind him as he pressed his back against it. His heart was racing, his face burning.

“What just happened?!” he muttered to himself, gripping his hair.

Vallentino remembered. He remembered the dragon babies, the wedding—everything. There was no way it was a coincidence. It had to be him.

Just as Kai was trying to collect his thoughts, his sister peeked her head around the corner with a smirk. “Sooo… how was work?”

Kai shot her a glare. “None of your business.”

She gasped dramatically. “Oh my god! Something did happen! Spill!”

Kai groaned, shoving past her toward his room, but she followed him, practically skipping. “Did Vallentino do something? Did he finally confess his undying love? Did you kiss?”

Kai whipped around, pointing a finger at her. “First of all, stop shipping me with my boss! Second of all—NO! He didn’t confess! And third…” His voice trailed off as he remembered the way Vallentino whispered, "You're mine, after all."

His sister wiggled her eyebrows. “Oooooh, you’re blushing.”

“I AM NOT!” Kai snapped, shoving his face into a pillow.

His sister cackled. “You totally are! Oh my god, this is so good. I knew it. I knew from the moment you stepped into that bakery, fate was gonna smack you in the face with romance.”

Kai groaned loudly. “I hate this. I hate everything.”

His sister leaned against the doorframe, grinning. “No, you don’t.”

Kai threw a pillow at her.

As much as he wanted to deny it… maybe she was right.

After his sister finally left him alone, Kai sat on his bed, staring at his phone. He hesitated for a moment before finally dialing his mom’s number.

The phone rang twice before she picked up.

“Kai? You never call me first. Did you get fired?”

Kai rolled his eyes. “No, Mom. Can’t I just call because I miss you?”

“Ha! Yeah, right. Now tell me, what happened?”

Kai took a deep breath, gripping the phone tightly. “Okay… you’re not gonna believe this, but…”

And so, he told her everything.

From the moment he walked into the bakery, to how Vallentino weirdly knew his name, the strange tension between them, the kiss, and finally—the part where Vallentino claimed to remember their past life together.

There was a long silence on the other end.

“…Mom?”

Then, his mom burst out laughing.

Kai’s eye twitched. “Why are you laughing? This is serious!”

“Kai, honey,” she said between giggles, “so what I’m hearing is… you walked into a bakery, found a hot guy who immediately kissed you, and now he says he’s your long-lost husband from another life? And you’re upset about this?!”

Kai groaned, flopping back onto his bed. “Mom, you’re not helping.”

“I don’t see the problem, Kai. If a tall, handsome baker remembered me from a past life and claimed I was his, I’d be picking out my wedding dress already.”

Kai sat up, horrified. “MOM?! WHAT—NO! This is weird! And insane! And I don’t even know if I believe him!”

“Uh-huh. But you want to believe him, don’t you?”

Kai opened his mouth—then closed it. He had no comeback for that.

His mom sighed dramatically. “Listen, sweetheart, I don’t know if this Vallentino guy is telling the truth or if he’s just a really smooth liar, but either way… he’s obviously crazy about you. And I know my son—sooner or later, you’re gonna fall for him too.”

Kai groaned again, rubbing his temples. “You and my sister are literally the worst.”

“Oh, we know.”

Kai was about to argue when his mom suddenly gasped.

“WAIT. Kai. If you had a past life and Vallentino was your husband, does that mean I was a grandma in another life?!”
