The Tangled Thread of Fate
Ep 5: Emma
The last thing I remembered was the sound of splash of water. When I woke up, my hair was as wet as my body. Well, of course I was in water. And now, I am in a place I should be most familiar with but is the most foreign to me. It is too small to be a hospital, then maybe a health center...?
Just then, a woman with a white coat thrown over her body came over. She had a gentle smile plastered on her face. Her voice was soft.
Doctor
How are you feeling now?
Emma Collins
Who the hell brought me here?
Doctor
That doesn't answer my question at all but since you asked, a boy perhaps around your age brought you here.
Doctor
Now, how are you feeling?
Emma Collins
I felt a lot better when I was in the water.
Doctor
Well... Just for your information, we were successful in making an attempt to call your parent. Your father will be here soon.
Doctor
Have lots of rest after you get home.
The woman didn't have any of my attention until this moment. She did the one thing which I would never want to do, not even after my death.
Emma Collins
And just for your information woman, you didn't save a life today. Possibly you gave one away.
The words came out more bitterly from my mouth than I imagined it to. Her smile drained from her face and she gave me one sharp look before she walked away.
It didn't take long for dad to arrive. Oh, let me just die. He was an expert at speaking in the most polite way with people and that was exactly what he was doing right at the moment with that woman from earlier.
After a few moments, she brought dad to me. Fuck her. Dad nodded and thanked her after she went away giving one last smile to my dad. Now, all of my dad's attention was on me.
William Collins
I am ashamed of you more than I have ever been at this moment. You went to do such a simple task. To drown and die. You failed miserably.
William Collins
It would have been so very nice if you did die.
And I did die. The words cut me into a billion of pieces that nothing could ever put it back. He walked away with death in his hands.
I was left alone after that. I have always been alone, nothing new or unusual. After what felt like decades, a boy came over. I was drowned in my own world and not gave a damn about the reality. But a deep voice snapped me back.
Jake Smith
Hey, you okay now?
It took me a moment to process the words. 'Okay'... It is a word which is empty for me. I have been everything but okay.
Emma Collins
I have been worse and am worse.
I spoke without bothering to look up.
Jake Smith
I am sorry you had to hear that from your father.
My head snapped up in response to meet his eyes. But my eyes lingered to his gorgeous features.
He was in casual clothes but looked like a Greek god come to life. I am going to spare you the details. Just imagine what the most charming yet handsome would look like to you and that's it.
But I was feeling so empty it didn't take me long to snap my eyes back to meet his.
Emma Collins
How very generous of you.
My reply was sarcastic. He opened his mouth to say something but was stopped by my words.
Emma Collins
And just so you know, you didn't save me today. You killed me.
Emma Collins
You don't know shit about the hell I have to live and go through everyday again just because of you.
His mouth shut and his jaw clenched at my words. He turned on his heels and started to walk away. He stopped one last time and murmured in a low voice but loud enough for me to hear.
Jake Smith
Before you say stuff like that to someone, think of the possibility that the person might be going through the exact same thing or worse.
