The Tangled Thread of Fate
Ep 2: Jake
I shrieked as I myself skimmed my fingers over my bruises. They did create a burning sensation but I knew they would go away. I have become very knowledgeable when it comes to bruises by this point of time. Not sure if that is a flex though.
I tiptoe down the stairs to grab a bag of ice in case the burning sensation becomes too much.
Our living room was pitch black. The curtains were drawn and the bulbs there were thrown out months ago. I also had to keep a lookout for the pieces of glasses on the floor. And phew! I finally reached the freezer.
Susan Smith
What the fucking hell?!! What ya taking from my freezer?
My mom's voice echoed through the hallway. Uh-huh, this is not going to end well. She was already in the kitchen by the time I grabbed an ice pack, shut the freezer and turned around.
Jake Smith
Mom, chill. I was just grabbing some ice.
I explained as I held up the ice pack.
Susan Smith
No! You were just trying to steal my booze! You thief! You liar!
See what I have to deal with? My mom being an alcoholic is also not something I can quite flex about. I just decided to keep my mouth shut and head back to my room.
As I took one step forward an empty bottle of wine shattered right in front of my feet.
Susan Smith
You bloody asshole...
I bent down to clean it up so that neither of us hurt ourselves. But just then another bottle of wine hits my head. This one was full and as the wine flowed over my bruises it caused a terrible burning. I rushed over to the bathroom to wash it away. Back in the kitchen, my mom was still screaming.
Susan Smith
That's what you get for lying and stealing my booze!
Ah, don't worry. It's just another day of my not-so-nice life.
