Garden Of Roses
I still couldn’t erase the memory of his behavior from earlier. .
The silent stand he took for me, the way he so effortlessly and subtly declared that I was his wife and belonged beside him—it all replayed in my mind, sending a strange warmth through me.
My cheeks burned, and I pressed my fingers against them, trying to cool the heat
I couldn’t shake the butterflies fluttering wildly in my stomach, the goosebumps lingering from the moment he knelt in front of me.
It was something I had never experienced, something so surreal that it felt almost like a dream.
No one had ever knelt before me, and he did it so casually, like it was the most natural thing in the world.
My heart thudded painfully, refusing to calm down. It hasn’t even been a day since we got married, and here I am, like this—all because of him.
But then, as I thought back to the dining table, a small pang of sadness crept into my chest. Everyone had praised the food I made, showered me with gifts, and made me feel welcome.
Everyone… except him. He hadn’t said a single word about the food. He simply ate silently, his face blank and unreadable, and then left the table after greeting everyone.
I had waited—hoped—for some reaction, even a single word, but his stoic expression betrayed nothing. It felt as if I didn’t exist in his world during those moments.
The contrast between his earlier gesture of placing the ring on my finger and his indifference at the dining table was enough to leave me confused, unsure of where I stood with him.
Right now, though, I tried to push those thoughts away as Sehar, guided me around the house. Ammi had told her to show me everything, and she was eagerly taking me to every corner of the sprawling mansion.
The house was spacious, almost exaggerated in its elegance, with towering ceilings, shimmering chandeliers, and grand windows that let the sunlight stream in.
Every room had its own unique charm—draped in luxury yet still feeling strangely homely.

Yeh guest room hai, aur uske baaju mein study room hai, jo bhai use karte hain
** Sehar explained, pointing at a sleek door with polished wood.
[ "This is the guest room, and next to it is the study room, which my brother uses. ]
Saher Mirza/ML sister/
Woh zyada time wahin spend karte hain, toh aapko kuch kaam hoga toh yahin milenge.
[ He spends most of his time there, so if you need anything, you’ll find him here.]
Her casual words made me pause. He spends most of his time in the study? I bit my lip, wondering if I’d ever even dare to disturb him there.
Sehar continued, leading me to yet another beautifully designed room.
I nodded along to her explanations, but my mind wandered back to him—his actions, his words, his silence.
There was something about him that both terrified me and pulled me closer. And I didn’t know how to handle either feeling.
Sehar led me to the garden, and the moment we stepped outside, I couldn’t help but gasp softly. It was breathtaking—a sight to behold. The garden stretched wide, filled with every type of flower imaginable. Roses in shades of red, pink, and white.
Jasmine vines spilling their delicate blossoms over trellises. Lilies swaying gently in the breeze. The air was alive with their mingled fragrance, so sweet and intoxicating that it felt like I had stepped into another world.
There was a small sitting area in the middle of the garden, with elegant chairs and a tiny table, decorated with a simple yet charming arrangement. Everything about the space seemed thoughtfully designed, as if it were a place for quiet moments and peaceful escapes.
Sehar’s excitement was infectious as she pointed out each part of the garden

“Dekho, yeh water fountain hai!” **she said, leading me toward the center**
[ 'Look, this is the water fountain!' ]
I followed her, my eyes widening as I took in the fountain. It stood tall and graceful, its crystal-clear water cascading down in gentle streams. The soft sound of flowing water added a serene touch to the already enchanting garden.
Saher Mirza/ML sister/
And this **she said, gesturing proudly**
yeh hai hamara greenhouse.
[ And this is our greenhouse ]
The greenhouse stood in the corner of the garden, its glass walls glinting under the sunlight. Inside, I could see rows of exotic plants, vibrant and lush, carefully nurtured.
Ruhani Taha Mirza/FL/
It’s beautiful, **I murmured, unable to take my eyes off the greenery around me**
The entire space felt alive, a perfect blend of nature and tranquility.
Saher Mirza/ML sister/
**Sehar beamed at my reaction**
Bhai ko yeh garden bohot pasand hai. Kabhi kabhi yahan baithte hain, akelay ya apne thoughts ke saath.
[ My brother loves this garden. Sometimes he sits here, alone with his thoughts.]
Her words made me glance toward the sitting area. The thought of Taha sitting there, lost in his own world, sent a strange pang through my chest. This place was peaceful, a stark contrast to his stoic and controlled demeanor.
Saher Mirza/ML sister/
Bhabhi , appko pta hai ..bhai ko Gulshan bohot pyare lagte hai, ye jitane bhi bhool aap dekh rahe hai na sare bhai ne apne hathon se lagaye the, itani khoobsurat lagte hai unko ye sare phool ..
[ Bhabhi, do you know my brother loves gardens a lot? All these flowers you see here, my brother planted them with his own hands. He finds them so beautiful. ]
Sehar said, her voice filled with admiration for her brother.
Her words made me pause. Taha liked flowers? The idea seemed almost out of character for someone so composed, so stoic. I looked around at the vibrant blooms surrounding us, their colors bright and lively, a stark contrast to the man I had married.
Ruhani Taha Mirza/FL/
**Hesitantly, I asked**, Unka favorite phool kaun sa hai?
[ What is his favorite flower? ]
Saher Mirza/ML sister/
**Sehar smiled, as if anticipating the question** Gulaab. Bhai ko gulaab bohot pasand hain. Unki khushboo rijhati hai bhai ko bohot,
**she replied, her voice soft and warm**
[ Roses. My brother loves roses. Their fragrance enchants him deeply.]
I nodded, taking in her words, but my thoughts drifted elsewhere. Aisa bhi kya hota hai in gulaabon mein jo log itne deewane hote hain? I wondered to myself. Kya khaas baat hoti hai inme jo Taha jaise controlled aur unreadable insaan ko bhi apni taraf kheench leti hai?
[ What is it about these roses that people are so enchanted by? I wondered to myself. What is so special about them that even someone as controlled and unreadable as Taha is drawn to them? ]
The truth was, I had never been fond of flowers. I never felt the charm that others seemed to see in them. To me, they were just… plants. They bloomed, they wilted, and that was the end of it. No magic, no beauty that could pull me in.
I sighed inwardly, glancing at the roses blooming gracefully in the garden.
Maybe I’m missing something, I thought. Maybe there was something in their fragrance, their delicacy, or their fleeting nature that I hadn’t been able to see yet. Something that even someone like Taha found captivating.
But for now, I remained untouched by their charm, unable to understand why they fascinated so many people—why they fascinated him.
