checking Out
I stood outside the door, my hand resting on the doorknob. As I twisted it, I felt a nervous knot form in my stomach, tightening with every moment. Taking a deep breath, I walked inside, my steps hesitant, my heart racing.
Ammi had mentioned he might be in the room after returning from the gym, and as I entered, I realized she was right. He wasn’t in sight, but the faint sound of running water from the bathroom confirmed his presence.
I Gulped, my fingers fidgeting nervously. Unsure of what else to do, I approached the cupboard. Maybe I should take out clothes for him? I thought, biting my lip in uncertainty. After all, he was a lawyer, and from what little I’d seen of him, his style seemed formal and precise. In his picture I was that .
My hands hovered over his neatly organized wardrobe, filled with suits and branded shirts. After a moment’s hesitation, I picked out a black shirt and black pants, pairing them with a black coat.
Black seems safe, doesn’t it? I thought, doubting myself as I smoothed the fabric.
As I moved to place the clothes on the bed, my gaze landed on his watch collection displayed nearby. They were exquisite, each one more stunning than the last, clearly expensive and branded.
My fingers paused over a sleek silver watch that gleamed under the soft light. It was simple yet elegant, and without much thought, I picked it up and placed it alongside his clothes.
After finishing, I stepped back, unsure of what to do next. My hands wrung together nervously as I looked around the room. I didn’t feel comfortable wandering about, and standing idly felt even more awkward.
Eventually, I hesitantly took a seat on the couch, my movements stiff and unsure. My heart thudded in my chest as I waited for him to come out. The sound of water continued in the background, and with every passing second, my nervousness grew.
What do I say to him when he comes out? I thought, glancing anxiously toward the bathroom door, my fingers fidgeting with the hem of my dupatta.
My breath hitched, and my eyes widened as the bathroom door creaked open. He stepped out, the sound of his bare feet against the floor echoing in the room.
A single towel was wrapped loosely around his waist, hanging dangerously low on his hips, while another towel rested in his hand, which he used to ruffle his damp hair.
Droplets of water clung to his sun-kissed skin, gliding down the sculpted curves of his chest and abdomen. His body was a masterpiece, carved with precision—broad shoulders that exuded strength, a chiseled chest that rose and fell with each breath, and defined abs that rippled with every movement.
My gaze trailed lower, catching the sharp indent of his V-line, peeking just above the towel, leading to his lean, toned waist. His arms were strong, with veins running down to his hands, accentuating the raw power he carried effortlessly.
His neck, long and regal, glistened with lingering droplets. The sharp curve of his collarbone seemed almost etched into his skin, catching the faint light of the room. A single droplet of water trailed from his neck to his chest, disappearing into the hollow between his collarbones, leaving me unable to look away.
The faint sheen of water emphasized the taut muscles in his back and shoulders as he turned slightly, rubbing the towel against his hair. Every movement seemed calculated, deliberate, as if he wasn’t just a man but a vision crafted to leave someone breathless.
I swallowed hard, feeling a strange heat rush to my cheeks as my gaze quickly darted away, realizing what I had just done—I stared. My heart raced wildly, my fingers clutching the hem of my dupatta tightly.
When I dared to glance back up, his sharp jawline caught my attention, still dripping with water. His hair, now tousled and damp, added an edge of ruggedness to his otherwise perfectly composed demeanor.
Then his eyes—piercing, unreadable—locked on mine, and my breath caught in my throat. I realized, with horrifying clarity, that I had been blatantly checking him out. A sudden hiccup escaped me, breaking the tense silence.

*hiccups, clenched eyes tightly*
Mortified, I quickly looked away, biting down hard on my lower lip as a hot flush spread from my cheeks to my neck
My hiccups wouldn’t stop, each one coming louder than the last, making the situation even worse. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw him move toward the side table.
He poured a glass of water, his movements calm and precise, as if my flustered state didn’t bother him in the slightest.

*pour the water in glass*
He walked toward the couch, holding the glass in his hand, and stopped in front of me. Without a word, he handed it to me. My fingers trembled as I reached out, taking the glass hesitantly from him, hiccuping again as I did.

Hic.
I lowered my gaze, avoiding his piercing stare, and took a few small sips. The cold water did little to calm my racing heart or stop my hiccups. The embarrassment was suffocating, and all I wanted to do was disappear from the room entirely.
I Clutched the glass tightly, my knuckles turning white as I tried to compose myself.
He turned and moved to the other side of the room, his back now to me. Without thinking, I seized the moment
Before he could glance back, I bolted from the couch and dashed out of the room like a frightened bunny
My feet carried me faster than my mind could process, my heart pounding as I fled, leaving behind nothing but the soft tinkling sound of my bangles and the faint echo of the door shutting behind me.
