Chapter 1: The Awakening
Liam opened his eyes, gasping for air as if surfacing from a deep, dark ocean.
The last thing he remembered was a car crash, metal screeching against metal, and the blinding headlights of an oncoming truck.
But this... this was different. He was no longer in his world.
The world around him was blurry, hazy and yet there was something eerily familar about it.
his lungs burned, struggling to fill with air as he sat up abruptly, hands pressing against the cold, surface beneath him.
His mind hazy as if emerging from a long disorienting sleep. The room he found himself in was neither lavish nor modest, but rather one of quiet comfort.
Liam blinked, gasping for air.

Where... am I?
He looked around again still slightly disoriented

Ugh
He gripped his head as the last thing he remembered replayed in his head.
The crash metal screeching, the blinding lights of an oncoming truck. He had been on the road, speeding through the night, trying to outrun the weight of his past. But that didn't explain why he was here now.
His reflection in the glass caught his attention.
Liam Ashford (Mc)

I look younger...
The face that stared back at him was unmistakably his but there was a softness to it, a look of innocence that felt foreign.
His eyes were the same dark, searching but they lacked the weight that had burdened him in his previous life.
His hair darker and slightly longer than he remembered, framed his face in a way that made him look like a stranger.

"What's going on?"he thought to himself.
His hand instinctively reaching up to touch his face, as if trying to confirm that it was really him.
His fingers trembled as they brushed across his skin.

"This isn't right!?"
Liam Ashford (Mc)

"It's not possible."
He stood slowly, wobbling for a moment before regaining his balance.
His body felt strange like it belonged to someone else. Younger, sure but stronger too.
He didn't feel the same weight of the world he'd carried before but instead a sense of latent power like he was meant to do something important. But what?
This room seemed too comfortable and cozy for someone of his background. It was too cozy for the humble life he remembered.
One of cramped apartments and quiet streets.
The furniture in the room was practical but tasteful, a sturdy wooden bed with a plain, navy blue quilt, its edges slightly frayed with time. A small, polished wooden desk sat against the wall, cluttered with a few books and a flickering candle. On the desk, there was a single chair, its cushion worn but still comfortable. A simple wardrobe stood nearby, its doors slightly ajar, revealing neatly folded clothes inside, nothing too extravagant, but certainly well-kept.
The floor beneath his feet was made of smooth stone, warm to the touch, as though it had absorbed the sunlight filtering through the window. The only decoration was a small rug in muted tones, and a few framed sketches hanging on the walls, their subjects mostly landscapes and buildings of the city.
Despite the simplicity, there was a sense of order here, a feeling that the room had been well cared for. It didn’t feel impersonal or cold, but neither did it feel lived-in. It was as if someone had prepared this space for him, though he couldn’t understand why.
Liam stood up, his legs unsteady beneath him, and took a cautious step toward the window. Outside, the city sprawled beneath a grey sky, its spires and rooftops reaching for the heavens. There were no sounds of bustling traffic or crowded streets, but there was life, just a quiet hum in the distance, as if the city was waiting.
His gaze returned to the room. It was unfamiliar, yet he couldn’t shake the feeling that he had been here before, or that he was meant to be here. A thousand questions filled his mind, but for now, all he could do was stand still and try to make sense of this place, this strange, new life that seemed to have unfolded before him.

"This isn't possible," he repeated to himself.
A sense of dread creeping over him. But the longer he stood in the room, the more his mind seemed to settle into this new reality.
He swallowed hard, pushing away the panic that threatened to overwhelm him. He had been in situations like this before uncertain, alone, questioning everything. But this... this was different. This world felt unfamiliar, yet there was a sense of inevitability about it, as if he had always been meant to be here.
A soft knock at the door interrupted his thoughts. He froze. Someone was outside. Without thinking, he hurried to the door, barely managing to steady himself as his new body instinctively moved with more grace than he thought possible.
The door creaked open to reveal a tall woman, her pale skin and dark, attire making her appear almost ghostly in the dim light. Her eyes, sharp and calculating, studied him for a moment before she spoke.
???
???
“You’ve awakened,” she said in a voice that carried an edge of authority.
Her tone wasn’t one of surprise, but of expectation.
???
???
“It’s time for you to understand what this world is.”
Liam’s heart skipped a beat. There was something in her gaze, something ancient and knowing, that made him hesitate. She knew something about him, something he didn’t understand yet.

“Where am I?” His voice sounded foreign, as though he hadn’t spoken in years.
???
???
"This is your new home.”
Her eyes softened for just a moment, almost as though she was offering comfort.
???
???
“And your new life begins today.”
Liam Ashford (Mc)

“New life?” he repeated, his voice hollow.

“What are you talking about?"
Liam Ashford (Mc)

I....I was just...
???
???
“The past is gone,” she interrupted, her gaze hardening slightly.
???
???
“What matters now is the future, and the role you are destined to play in it.”
Liam Ashford (Mc)
Liam Ashford (Mc)
Destined?
He had no idea what she was talking about, but there was an undeniable weight to her words. He was destined to play a part in something, but what? And why did it feel like the answer was just beyond his reach?
???
???
“Come,” she said, motioning for him to follow.
???
???
“There is much to discuss.”
Liam hesitated for a moment, a thousand questions racing through his mind. But in the end, he nodded, allowing her to lead him through the halls, uncertain of what awaited him or who he truly was in this strange, new world.
But one thing was clear: he had been reborn for a reason. And whatever that reason was, it was bound to change everything.
