Chapter 18
-----------------------------
After a year, both Amyra and Ashi were graduating from university. The time had flown by, and the bond between them had grown stronger, yet there was a slight distance between them now, an unspoken gap that had developed over time
The campus was abuzz with excitement and relief as graduates collected their diplomas. The sun shone brightly, casting a golden hue over the ceremony. Amyra walked through the crowd, her cap and gown a sharp contrast to her usual style. She was scanning the sea of faces, but there was one person she was looking for—Ashi
Ashi was standing a little off to the side, her posture relaxed but her expression unreadable. She had always been the mysterious one, the one who didn’t need to fit into the usual mold. Yet, today, she seemed even more detached than usual. Amyra approached her, a smile on her face despite the gnawing feeling in her chest
Amyra Winston(2nd Fl/Dominant Omega)
(grinning, handing Ashi her cap) Can you believe it? We made it! We’re done, Ashi!
Amyra Winston(2nd Fl/Dominant Omega)
Ashi gave a faint smile, trying to mask the unsettling feeling that had crept up on her. She couldn’t quite explain it, but something deep inside her told her this was it—this was the end of something. Their bond, as strong as it had been, was nearing its conclusion. She couldn’t shake the thought that things were about to change forever
Ashi Ryna(Fl/Enigma/AR)
(forcing a smile) Yeah, I guess we did. Time really does fly
Amyra raised an eyebrow, clearly noticing Ashi’s lack of enthusiasm, but she didn’t press. Instead, she leaned in for a hug, pulling Ashi close
Amyra Winston(2nd Fl/Dominant Omega)
I’m so proud of us, Ashi. I’m going to miss this... everything
Ashi’s arms hung stiffly at her sides for a moment before she returned the hug, but it wasn’t the same. She felt as if she was holding on to something slipping away. She hadn’t realized how much she depended on Amyra, how much she relied on their connection to keep her grounded
Ashi Ryna(Fl/Enigma/AR)
(quietly, almost to herself) Yeah, me too
As the hug ended, Amyra pulled back, her smile still bright, but Ashi could see a subtle shift in her eyes—her excitement tempered by an unspoken question
Amyra Winston(2nd Fl/Dominant Omega)
(trying to lighten the mood) You don’t look too thrilled. What’s going on? This is supposed to be a celebration
Ashi shrugged, her gaze drifting away toward the crowd
Ashi Ryna(Fl/Enigma/AR)
(softly)It’s just another day, Amyra. Nothing’s really changed, you know?
There was a quiet weight in Ashi’s voice that Amyra hadn’t expected. She knew something was off, but she couldn’t quite place it. She hesitated for a moment before speaking again, her tone softer
Amyra Winston(2nd Fl/Dominant Omega)
Ashi… Are you okay? You’ve been a little distant lately
Ashi Ryna(Fl/Enigma/AR)
(softly) It's nothing... just thinking
Ashi’s eyes lingered on Amyra, but there was something wistful in her gaze. She wasn’t sure if she could articulate the sadness she felt. The thought that this might be the last time they would share moments like these —the last time they'd walk side by side through their lives —gnawed at her. She’d never truly voiced how much Amyra meant to her, and she didn’t know if she ever would. She wasn’t even sure Amyra would notice the growing distance between them as the days passed.
Ashi Ryna(Fl/Enigma/AR)
(quietly, almost as a whisper) Maybe. Or maybe we’ll just... be memories
