CURSED BY MOON, BOUNDED BY BLOOD
chapter 16
patrick
(nods, his tone steady but laced with bitterness)
She’s obsessed with me, Ivy. That obsession drove her to destroy everything we had. She thought that if she took your memories and your power, I’d turn to her. But I couldn’t. I never could.
Lily’s eyes search his, the truth unraveling in her mind. Her breath catches as her emotions shift—from fear, to anger, to the faint spark of something she hasn’t felt in a long time.
lily
(softly)
And what about you, Patrick? Did you...
Patrick steps closer, his hand brushing her cheek, his touch electric and grounding all at once.
patrick
(softly, intently)
There’s only ever been you, Ivy. In this life or the next, it’s you.
Lily’s breath hitches, her heart pounding as the intensity of his words hits her. She leans into his touch, her walls beginning to crumble, but Grimalkin’s low growl interrupts them. The wind shifts, carrying a scent that freezes them both.
lily
(whispering)
She’s here, isn’t she?
Patrick nods, his hand dropping to hers, gripping it tightly.
patrick
(steeling himself)
Yes. And she’ll do anything to take you away again. But I won’t let her.
Their gazes lock, the tension between them a fragile mix of fear, longing, and determination. In the shadows, a faint laugh echoes—a haunting, familiar sound that sends chills down Lily’s spine.
Location: A dark, cavernous lair illuminated by eerie, glowing crystals. The air is thick with an unnatural chill, and shadows dance across the jagged walls. A magical mirror ripples like water, showing Patrick and Lily in the moonlit grove. Rose stands before it, her crimson robes flowing like liquid fire. Beside her is Michael, his posture tense and conflicted. Grimalkin lurks on a ledge above, its eyes fixed on Rose.
Rose watches the scene in the mirror intently, her lips curling into a wicked smile. Her fingers trail along the edge of the mirror, leaving behind a faint trace of glowing runes.
rosé
(softly, almost lovingly)
Look at them. How tender. How tragic.
She tilts her head, her tone turning sharp and venomous.
rosé
So close, yet so far.
michael
(stepping forward, his voice taut with frustration)
Enough. I didn’t agree to this. You said you’d help me get her back, not... whatever this is.
rosé
(turning to face him, her expression mocking)
Oh, Michael. Do you really think she’ll run back into your arms just because you wish it? She’s bound to him, body and soul.
michael
(clenching his fists)
And whose fault is that? You cursed her. You made her forget everything, twisted her life into something unrecognizable.
rosé
(smirking, her voice dripping with false sweetness)
I gave her a chance to start over. To be free of the burdens that tied her to him. If she’s too blind to see that, it’s hardly my fault.
michael
(stepping closer, his desperation breaking through his anger)
I don’t want to hurt her. I just want her back.
rosé
(smirking, circling him like a predator)
And I’ll give her to you, Michael. But not as she is now. That version of Lily—my Ivy—is gone. I’ll make her forget him... permanently.
Michael’s eyes widen, his breath hitching as the weight of her words sinks in.
michael
(whispering)
What are you planning, Rose?
