CURSED BY MOON, BOUNDED BY BLOOD
chapter 12
rosé
(smirking, stepping closer)
You should let her go, Patrick. The Blood Moon’s curse doesn’t let go so easily. She’s slipping into something far worse than death.
Patrick snarls, his hand twitching as though to strike Rose, but he hesitates, his focus returning to Lily. Her eyes flutter open, glowing briefly with a haunting golden light before fading to her normal color.
lily
(weakly, her voice barely above a whisper)
Patrick…
patrick
(desperately)
I’m here. You’re safe. I won’t let them take you.
Rose tilts her head, watching the scene with a mixture of amusement and irritation.
rosé
(coldly)
Safe? She’s marked now, Patrick. There’s no safe anymore.
Patrick locks eyes with Rose, his voice dropping to a dangerous growl.
patrick
Then I’ll make it safe.
Rose smirks but steps back, her form melting into the shadows.
rosé
(mockingly, her voice fading)
Good luck with that, Prince. You’ll need it.
As the street falls silent once more, Patrick lifts Lily into his arms, his face a mask of determination.
patrick
(to himself, low)
I won’t lose you. Not to them. Not to this curse.
Location: Patrick’s home — a rustic, elegant apartment filled with woodsy charm. A large fireplace crackles in the corner, casting warm shadows across the room. Bookshelves line the walls.
Lily sits up in the bed, wincing slightly as she feels the dull ache in her body. Her gaze shifts to Grimalkin, a sleek black cat sitting imperiously on a nearby chair.
lily
(groggy, rubbing her temple)
Where… am I?
Grimalkin
(calmly, not even looking up from grooming itself)
Patrick’s home. You’ve been out for hours. Honestly, I thought we’d have to leave you in the streets...
Lily stares at the cat, her eyes widening in confusion.
lily
(blinking, incredulous)
Wait. A talking cat?
Grimalkin
(pausing, looking at her with mild disdain)
Ugh.every single timee... Always so predictable. Yes, I talk. Now can we move on?
lily
(sitting up more, her voice rising in panic)
Move on?! I was attacked by wolf, nearly torn apart, and now I’m having a conversation with a cat! What is going on?!
The door creaks open. Patrick steps in, holding a cup of tea. His expression is cautious, his movements slow, as if approaching a wounded animal.
patrick
(gently)
Lily, take it easy. You’re safe now.
Lily’s gaze snaps to him, her eyes narrowing. She instinctively pulls the blanket around her as a shield.
lily
(glaring)
Safe? What was that out there? That wolf? And you… (pausing) You weren’t human. What are you, Patrick?
Patrick hesitates, his jaw tightening. He sets the tea down on a small table and rubs the back of his neck, struggling for the right words.
