It was a quiet afternoon, and Taehyung sat in the staff lounge during his lunch break, picking at his meal absentmindedly.
His thoughts were far from the food in front of him, drifting back to the conversation he’d had with his family the night before. The weight of their expectations was pressing down on him, leaving him with a constant sense of frustration. He sighed, resting his chin on his hand as he stared blankly at his half-eaten lunch.
Suddenly, he was startled out of his thoughts by a cheerful voice.
Yun Jiho: Hey, Taehyung! Mind if I join you?
Taehyung looked up to see Yun Jiho, the math teacher, flashing him a bright smile.
Jiho was always flirty and charming, never missing an opportunity to strike up a conversation with Taehyung during their breaks.
Though he had tried to court Taehyung several times in the past, Taehyung had always politely declined, not seeing him as anything more than a colleague. Despite the rejections, Jiho never seemed to give up.
Kim Taehyung
Sure, go ahead.
Jiho sat down across from him, placing his lunch tray on the table. He leaned forward slightly, his eyes sparkling with mischief as he spoke.
Yun Jiho: You seem lost in thought. What’s going on in that pretty little head of yours?
Taehyung chuckled softly, shaking his head.
Kim Taehyung
Nothing much, just... family stuff.
Yun Jiho: Family stuff, huh? Must be something serious if it’s got you this distracted. Want to talk about it?
Taehyung sighed, unsure if he wanted to get into the details. He knew Jiho meant well, but talking about his family’s pressure to get married wasn’t something he wanted to share, especially with someone who had his own romantic interests in him.
Kim Taehyung
It’s nothing I can’t handle.
Yun Jiho: If you ever need a distraction, you know where to find me.😉 I’m always happy to take your mind off things.
Taehyung rolled his eyes playfully, used to Jiho’s flirty remarks by now.
Kim Taehyung
You never give up, do you?
Yun Jiho:Why would I? Someone as handsome as you deserves all the attention in the world. Besides, I’m a persistent guy. You’ll say yes one day.
Taehyung shook his head, smiling despite himself. Jiho’s persistence was something he’d grown accustomed to, though he knew there would never be anything more between them.
Kim Taehyung
Keep dreaming, Jiho.
Jiho laughed, leaning back in his chair.
Yun Jiho: I will, don’t worry.
The conversation lightened Taehyung’s mood a little, and for a brief moment, he was able to push aside the weight of his family’s expectations. Though Jiho’s advances weren’t something he was interested in, the man’s playful banter was a welcome distraction from the stress of his home life.
