THE UNEXPECTED KISS

POV- EVANGELINE HOPES

--------------------------------

With a troubled mind, I reached Zeraf's house. "I'm home," I said. "Welcome, Ange. I was waiting for you," Zeraf replied with a warm smile. I couldn't help but notice how handsome he was becoming, which annoyed me. "Well, it's time for our dinner," he said, having already prepared it. He invited me to sit down and eat with him.

We had dinner together, and afterwards, I helped him wash the dishes. However, my mind was still focused on sneaking into my uncle's office. I was preoccupied with my calculations and didn't pay much attention to what Zeraf was saying. I just bid him good night and hurried off to my room, knowing exactly what time he went to sleep.

I waited for the perfect moment. After freshening up, I went into my uncle's office without making any noise. I made sure Zeraf was fast asleep before proceeding. The office was locked, but I managed to open it with my skills. Now all I had to do was find the diary. I'm sorry, Uncle, but I have to do this.

I searched the entire office, examining the shelves, books, and desk, but couldn't find anything. Then, as I was scanning the room, I noticed something peculiar about a wall painting. It seemed to be shining in the dark. Upon closer inspection, I found a marking that matched the key I held. I used the key to unlock it, and fortunately, it was exactly what I was looking for. Inside, I found a diary-like journal containing records of all the patients my uncle had consulted. And there, I found my name in a special journal.

I carefully took the journal and made sure everything was back in its place. I tried to make my way back to my room, but unfortunately, Zeraf turned on the light as I was passing by. "What the hell are you doing?" he asked, clearly surprised.

"I'm feeling really hot and thirsty," I quickly replied. "That's why I was in hall"

He gave me a suspicious look, causing me to remember my uncle's words about my poor lying skills. "Zeraf, could you please get me some cold water?" I pleaded, using my puppy eyes to my advantage.

He seemed to be moved by my request and went to fetch the water from the fridge. As he handed it to me, he played a little prank, trying to grab it back. "Zeraf, this is no time for your childish games!" I said furiously. "You're still suspicious," he retorted.

He started coming closer to me, and I realized this was not good. I had to do something or risk being exposed. "What are you hiding from me?" he asked, his voice filled with curiosity.

"What am I hiding? Nothing," I replied quickly, hoping he hadn't seen the journal. But deep down, I knew he probably had. This was bad, and I had no choice but to act.

"It's your fault," I cursed Zeraf silently in my mind. We were standing very close to each other, so as a distraction, I pulled on his nightdress. Confused, he didn't understand what was happening. Taking advantage of the moment, I discreetly hid the journal and gently placed my hands on his collar before softly kissing his lips.
