grandmother
(brightening up) “Oh, Charlotte, I just remembered! I brought a little gift for you.”

She gets up and walks over to her suitcase, which is placed in the corner of the room. As she opens it and rummages through, Charlotte’s eyes catch sight of something familiar. There, among her grandmother’s belongings, is a book that looks exactly like the one Charlotte found in the storeroom.
Charlotte Carmine
(surprised) “Grandma, where did you get that book?”
dead person
Her grandmother looks up, puzzled for a moment, before noticing what Charlotte is pointing at.
grandmother
“This old thing? I’ve had it for years. It’s one of those stories that’s been passed down in our family. Why do you ask?”
Charlotte Carmine
“Because I found the exact same book in our storeroom. I’ve been reading it, and it’s so intriguing. It’s about Catherine, Amelia, Charles, and George.”
grandmother
(smiling) “Ah, yes. That story. It’s a fascinating one, isn’t it? it gets handed down through generations.”
Charlotte Carmine
“But why do we have it? Is there something special about it?”
grandmother
(thoughtfully) “The book is said to be based on real events, connected to our ancestors. Many of the characters are inspired by people from our family’s past. That’s why it feels so personal.”
Charlotte Carmine
“So, Catherine and Charles, they were real?”
grandmother
“In a way, yes. The story has been embellished over time, but the essence of their lives and experiences remains. It’s part of our heritage, a link to those who came before us.”
Charlotte Carmine
(amazed) “I had no idea. That’s incredible.”
dead person
Her grandmother finally finds the gift she was looking for and hands it to Charlotte. It’s a beautifully crafted locket with intricate designs.
grandmother
“This locket belonged to Catherine. It’s been passed down to the women in our family. I want you to have it now.”
Charlotte Carmine
(teary-eyed) “Thank you, Grandma. This means so much to me.”
dead person
They embrace, and Charlotte feels a deeper connection to her family’s history. The discovery of the book and the locket adds a new layer of meaning to her life and the story she’s been reading.
Charlotte Carmine
“I can’t wait to learn more about our family’s past. It feels like I’m part of something much bigger.”
grandmother
(softly) “You are, Charlotte. And I’m sure you’ll make your own mark in our family’s story.
Be proud of yourself"
dead person
As the night deepens, Charlotte and her grandmother share more stories and memories, strengthening their bond and enriching Charlotte’s understanding of her heritage.
