ep 08 growing jealousy
Charlotte Carmine
*Meeting his gaze* I’m glad you’re here, Arthur.
Arthur Windsor
*Softly* Me too, Charlotte. Me too.
James Carlton
*playfully throws a pillow at Charlotte* Hey, you two! No serious talks allowed! Join the fun!
Charlotte Carmine
*Laughing* James!
Aurora D'AMORE
*Laughing* Yeah, come on! You can’t escape the pillow fight.
Arthur Windsor
*Smiling at Charlotte* Looks like we’re being drafted.
Charlotte Carmine
Alright, let’s do this!
Arthur Windsor
Ready when you are.

Around the Bonfire at Night
Mary smith
*Snuggled up with Michael* Alright, who’s next for a story?
James Carlton
*Rubbing his hands in front of the bonfire* I’m out of scary stories. Someone else go.
Robert knight
*handing a blanket to Aurora* Here, stay warm. And maybe you can tell us something interesting.
Aurora D'AMORE
*Gratefully* Thanks, Robert. But I think I’ll pass on the horror stories.
Charlotte Carmine
*Sitting next to Arthur* I’ve got a few stories, but they’re more funny than scary.
Arthur Windsor
*Putting his arm around her shoulders* Funny works too. Keeps the mood light.
Mary smith
*Smiling* Oh, I’ve got the perfect one. How about the time Charlotte tried to cook for the first time?
Charlotte Carmine
*Groaning* Oh no, not that one!
Michael knight
*Laughing* This sounds promising. Go on, Mary.
Mary smith
So, little Charlotte here decided she wanted to make breakfast in bed for her parents. She was probably around seven or eight.
James Carlton
*Grinning* This is going to be good.
Mary smith
She gets up super early, sneaks into the kitchen, and starts making pancakes. Only, she didn’t know the difference between salt and sugar.
Mary smith
Yup, she put in a cup of salt instead of sugar. And then, to make it worse, she tried to flip the pancake and it ended up on the ceiling.
Robert knight
*laughing* Did it stick?
Mary smith
Oh, it stuck alright. Her parents woke up to the smell of burning salt pancakes and found her standing on a chair, trying to scrape the pancake off the ceiling with a broom.
Charlotte Carmine
*Blushing* I was just trying to be nice!
Arthur Windsor
*Laughing, squeezing her shoulders* Well, it’s the thought that counts, right?
Michael knight
So what happened?
Mary smith
Her parents were so touched by the effort, they took her out for breakfast instead. And the pancake? It stayed on the ceiling for weeks until her dad finally got it down.
James Carlton
That’s priceless. Good effort, Charlotte.
Charlotte Carmine
*Smiling* I’ve come a long way since then, I promise.
Aurora D'AMORE
*Noticing Arthur’s arm around Charlotte, feeling an unfamiliar pang of jealousy* We’ll have to test that sometime. Maybe tomorrow’s breakfast?
Charlotte Carmine
As long as someone else handles the salt and sugar, I’m in.
Arthur Windsor
I’ll supervise. Make sure we don’t have any ceiling pancakes.
Aurora D'AMORE
*Forcing a smile* That sounds like a plan.

Everyone laughs, enjoying the warmth of the fire and the camaraderie of the group, as the night grows late. Aurora, however, remains quiet, trying to understand the sudden surge of jealousy she felt seeing Arthur so close to Charlotte.
Mary smith
Alright, who’s next?
Aurora D'AMORE
*Quickly* I’ve got one. How about the time Arthur and I got lost in the woods when we were kids?
Arthur Windsor
*surprised* Aurora...
Aurora D'AMORE
Oh, come on. It’s a good story. We were what, eight? We decided to go exploring behind our house, and ended up completely lost.
Michael knight
Sounds like the beginning of an adventure.
Aurora D'AMORE
It was. Arthur was so scared, but he pretended to be brave because he knew I was more terrified. We ended up finding a little stream and followed it back home.
Arthur Windsor
*Smiling* Yeah, and we got grounded for a week.
Aurora D'AMORE
But we had fun. We made a pact to always stick together after that.
Charlotte Carmine
*Glancing at Arthur* That’s sweet. Sounds like you two have always been close.
Aurora D'AMORE
*Smiling, but with a hint of possessiveness* We have. Arthur’s always been there for me.
Arthur Windsor
And you for me.
James Carlton
*Interrupting, laughing* Hey!, don’t forget me in this childhood saga! I was there too, trying to find you both with my dad’s old compass. Remember how I ended up leading us in circles?
Aurora D'AMORE
*Laughing* Oh yes, we were all so lost until we heard the search party calling for us.
Arthur Windsor
That’s right. It was quite the adventure. We had quite a trio back then.
Mary smith
Sounds like you all have a lot of history together.
Aurora D'AMORE
We sure do. And plenty more stories where that came from.

As the night continues, Aurora keeps a close eye on Arthur and Charlotte, still trying to make sense of the jealousy she feels seeing Arthur so close to Charlotte.
Charlotte Carmine
*Standing up* I’m going to grab some snacks. Be right back.
Robert knight
Hurry back, Charlotte. I’m getting hungry!
Charlotte Carmine
*Returns with a tray of snacks* Here we go, everyone. Dig in.
Charlotte Carmine
*Handing a snack to Arthur* Here you go, Arthur.
Aurora D'AMORE
*Quickly interrupting* Oh, Arthur, you should try these snacks I made. I brought them just for you.
Arthur Windsor
Uh, thanks, Aurora. I’ll try them.
Charlotte Carmine
*smiling politely* I didn’t know you made snacks, Aurora. What did you bring?
Aurora D'AMORE
*Smiling, feeling a bit triumphant* Just some homemade cookies and a special dip for the chips. Arthur always loved my cooking.
Mary smith
*Nudging Michael* Well, this is going to be a feast then.
Michael knight
Sounds delicious. Let’s dig in.
James Carlton
Alright, but someone else has to tell a story while we snack.
Mary smith
I’ve got one. How about the time Charlotte had to deal with her ex-boyfriend, Alex?
Arthur Windsor
*frowns* Charlotte’s ex-boyfriend?
Mary smith
Oh yes, it’s a classic story. So, back in school, Charlotte was dating this guy named Alex. And my friend at the time was Lisa.
Mary smith
Well, Alex and Charlotte were having a rough patch, and Lisa thought she could help by playing mediator. Only, she ended up making things ten times worse.
Mary smith
She convinced Alex to plan this big, elaborate apology in front of the whole school during assembly. He was going to sing a song, make this huge speech – the works.
James Carlton
Sounds romantic.
Mary smith
It would have been, except Alex couldn’t sing to save his life and Lisa didn’t realize how much he hated public speaking.
Charlotte Carmine
*Smiling sheepishly* It was a disaster.
Mary smith
So there we were, sitting in assembly, and Alex starts singing. It was so off-key, everyone was cringing. Then he starts his speech, but he’s so nervous, he mixes up his words and ends up confessing his love for our math teacher instead of Charlotte.
Robert knight
*Laughing* Oh no!
Arthur Windsor
*Frowning slightly* That’s... really unfortunate.
Mary smith
The whole school burst out laughing. Alex turned bright red and ran off the stage. Lisa tried to salvage the situation by giving him a pep talk, but it was too late. The damage was done.
Michael knight
I feel bad for the guy.
Charlotte Carmine
Needless to say, Alex and I broke up shortly after that. But it’s still one of the funniest memories I have from school.
Aurora D'AMORE
*Smiling, feeling triumphant* Charlotte, do you ever still think about Alex? Do you still have feelings for him?
Charlotte Carmine
*Surprised* Oh, no, Aurora. That’s all in the past. We’ve both moved on.
Aurora D'AMORE
*Feigning concern* Just checking. You never know with old flames.
Arthur Windsor
*Quietly, feeling a bit relieved* It’s good to know you’ve moved on
