Episode 9

When I returned home, it was already late at night. I tore off my clothes and stepped under the ice-cold water. I couldn't see her face, but that scent, by the Goddess, just thinking about it awakened all my senses. It was like I wasn't myself anymore. So this was what it was like to have a mate, even a second-chance mate.

So many things were going through my head. How could my destined and my second-chance mate be living in the same place? Was Princess Selena really there? If so, why didn't I feel her wolf? I only felt an omega who I believe is still a girl who hasn't yet blossomed. I had so many doubts. I wasn't myself. I couldn't think straight, and to make matters worse, my wolf was screaming inside me.

"For the Goddess' sake, Bless, be quiet," I muttered to my wolf, who wouldn't stay still.

"Mate, mate, we need her, I need her," Bless kept saying.

"I know, but you need to be calm. We'll get her soon. Be patient and help me. I can't lose my control."

He snorted inside me. We both wanted the same thing, but we needed to be patient... for now.

"You and I are one. Soon we will have our Luna. Now get out of my head," I said, and he left without protest.

I dried myself, put on some pants, and lay down, trying to rest and failing miserably in that mission.

The next morning, and in the ones to come, I would focus on training. It was the only thing that kept me calm, but Vincent wouldn't leave me alone, I knew that.

"What's bothering you?" Vincent asked.

"Nothing."

"You've always been a terrible liar," he said, sitting down next to me.

"Can we train?"

"You're thinking about her, aren't you? I know you are!" Vincent said with a grin on his face.

"You're not going to leave me alone?" I said, glaring at him.

"What are you going to do?" he asked me.

"Train for now."

"You're going to wait for the deadline to pass and go after her, aren't you?"

"After who?" Romana asked, throwing her bag on the floor.

"Nobody. Let's train now," I said, giving Vincent a warning look, which made him uncomfortable.

"But..." Romana tried to speak.

"If you came here to talk, you're in the wrong place," I said, interrupting her. The last thing I wanted was Romana on my case.

I went to the training area while Vincent and Romana got ready. Soon the rest of the guys arrived, and without further ado, we began our training.

As I said, the big day arrived soon. Living at home had been quite pleasant. The tension was still there. We were taking it easy. We all agreed that this wasn't something that could be easily forgotten. It would take time for things to get back to normal, if they ever did, but we were all trying, which was great for a start.

That morning when I got up, there was a rush. The last details seemed endless. Nobody even managed to eat. I think I was the only one who had breakfast. Hellen was being pampered by everyone. Today was her day, and she deserved it.

She would spend the whole day with our friends and our mother. I wouldn't dare go near her. We had called a truce, and I didn't want to ruin anything, but to my surprise, she came up to me.

I was eating toast with jam when she entered our kitchen.

"You should be enjoying your day. What are you doing here?" I asked, not stopping eating.

"I came to get you. You're the only one missing." Hellen said as she poured herself a glass of water.

"No, thank you. I'm still putting all this off."

"Come on, Arya. You know the effort I'm making by coming here!"

"I imagine. But I'll also be making a huge effort by getting into that dress and letting you do my makeup. You know I don't like those things. Thank you for coming, really, but go back there and enjoy it. It's your day."

"All right. If you change your mind, you know where to find us."

"I'll keep that in mind," I replied, and she left.

I finished my coffee, went back upstairs, and checked if everything was okay. I set aside some comfortable clothes for after the party and went to get the last thing I needed.

Knock knock...

Lucio came out and greeted me with messy hair. I didn't even wait for him to invite me in and went straight inside.

"Good morning. Did you just wake up?" I asked, watching him yawn.

"What are you doing up at this hour?"

"I came to pick up my order."

"Sh! Sh! Speak softly. If my dad hears us, he'll kill me."

"Sorry. Now can you give me what I asked you for?"

"It's in my room. Let's go."

We went upstairs. A warlock's house is really cool. The broom sweeps the floor by itself, the sponge washes the dishes without help, the mop goes all over the house. It's a privilege not to have to make any effort.

"Your house is the best, Lucio."

"You always say that."

"It's true."

We went into his room, and I jumped on his bed. He went to one of his drawers and took out three vials. I held out my hand, and he repeated himself.

"The vials are labeled. Even if you get them wet, the writing won't disappear. One to mask your scent, one to make you sick, and one to keep you from going into heat."

"Great, thank you," I said, taking the vials from his hand.

"How long are you planning on staying away?"

"As long as it takes."

"You know it won't last a month, do you?"

"Then let's ask the Moon Goddess to help me discover what I need before they run out."

Lucio shook his head.

"I want you to leave something of yours here so I can locate you whenever I want," he said, holding out his hand.

"You're the best friend anyone could ask for, but I don't think it's going to be necessary."

"Please, Arya."

"All right, all right," I said, analyzing myself. What could I leave with him?

I took off a ring my father had given me on my 15th birthday and handed it to him.

"You haven't taken it off since you got it. Don't you have anything else?"

"I have plenty at my house, but it would look suspicious if you went there, especially today. Besides, you're going to give it back to me when I get back."

"Of course."

"Then I don't see a problem. Well, I'd better get going. I'll see you later."

"See you soon."

I went back home, put the vials in my bag, and went to the training area. I needed to get ready.
