“I want to know how my father found this photographer,” (Jimin said.)
Lia Choi
(Lia glanced up, ponytail falling over one shoulder)
She pressed the HOME button, and then she went scrolling through her e-mails, humming something quietly to herself while Jimin shook one leg, watching Jeongguk circle the car to get the shots that he wanted. “Uh… oh, okay.
He copied me on an e-mail stating that he was sending out a general inquiry for Korea-based photographers interested in traveling to the United States for work with Park Consolidated. He received over fifty applications and he had his assistant headhunt about ten extras.”

“His assistant being Namjoon-ssi.”
Lia Choi
“Mhm. And… hold on, I’m looking at the lists. Mr. Kim sent the e-mail containing Mr. Jeon’s information,
Lia Choi
And he’s the one who made first contact with Mr. Jeon, not your father,” (Lia said.)
Lia Choi
“I love a good e-mail chain, don’t you? So yes, you can thank Mr. Kim for finding a needle in a haystack.
Lia Choi
But after that, your father took control. He hired Mr. Jeon and took care of his contract, NDA, and flight and hotel arrangements.”
Jimin (CEO)
“Mm,” (Jimin hummed, slowly licking his lips as he watched the scene before him.)
Lia Choi
“It’s nearly ten o'clock. Do you think he’s gotten the necessary shots?” (Lia asked, checking her watch.)
Jimin (CEO)
“He had an hour to photograph, correct?”
Lia Choi
“An hour exactly.”
Jimin (CEO)
“I’ll check in, then.”
Lia Choi
“Third time, huh? Look at you being all involved,”
Lia teased as Jimin stood up and walked over to Jeongguk again as he was standing by, sitting in one hip, looking at his photographs on his camera. Jimin approached, and Jeongguk didn’t even flinch. Instead, he just shifted the camera a little as he scrolled so that Jimin could see.
Jungkook (photographer)
“I think that they’re happy with my work,” (Jeongguk said, sounding pleased.)
Jungkook (photographer)
“But are you? Since you’re the CEO,” (Jeongguk said, his voice borderline teasing.)
Jimin (CEO)
“I haven’t made mention of any corrections, have I?”
Jungkook (photographer)
“No.”
Jimin (CEO)
“Then consider me happy with your work.”
Jungkook (photographer)
“Thank you.”
Jimin (CEO)
“Come to my room tonight,”
Jimin said quietly, still looking over Jeongguk’s shoulder. He reached into his pocket, slipped two fingers into his wallet, and pulled out his keycard. Then he held it between two fingers and passed it to Jeongguk.
Jeongguk’s thumb froze over the button, but then he cleared his throat and moved onto the next photo to show Jimin as a distraction, the other hand taking the keycard and sneaking it into his pocket. “
Jimin (CEO)
“Hotel name’s on the card. I’m on the top floor, room 801. Presidential suite. My security leaves at eleven o’clock. Come by after that. Only if you want to.”

“…Um, do you like the photos, sir?”
Jungkook (photographer)
(Jeongguk asked in English, clearing his throat again and stepping away, like he wanted everyone to hear the conversation.)
Jimin (CEO)
(Jimin licked his lips slowly, feeling a stab of disappointment, but then he nodded.)
Jimin (CEO)
“Yes. Of course I do,” he said
(Lia heard his approval, because she had gotten up to check in and make sure everything was running right on schedule. She smiled and nodded, and then she walked off, face buried in her iPad.)
(So Jimin quietly added in Korean,)
Jimin (CEO)
“Your work is amazing. Thank you. I’d actually like for you
Jimin (CEO)
To stick around and continue photographing the meeting that I have with my interested investors.”
Jungkook (photographer)
“Oh. I… I wasn’t hired for that,” (Jeongguk said, his brow furrowed.)
Jungkook (photographer)
“I’m only hired for three sessions in two weeks with Park Consolidated.”
Jimin (CEO)
“What’s my father paying you for this?” (Jimin asked,)
Jungkook (photographer)
(And Jeongguk pursed his lips.)
Jimin (CEO)
“You can tell me now or I can find out later. I have access to all of his dealings, Jeongguk.”
Jungkook (photographer)
“Doesn’t matter. He’s… paying me enough,” (Jeongguk said, shifting his footing.)
Jimin (CEO)
“You stay for a little longer and I’ll double that,” (Jimin replied.)
Jimin (CEO)
“If money means anything to you, of course. If not, then tell me something you might want as an incentive to stay and photograph our dealings.
Jimin (CEO)
I think some extra photos would be a positive asset. We could use an update on our website, after all.”
Jungkook (photographer)
“I… I don’t think I need more money,” (Jeongguk said, his ears turning a bit red.)
Jimin (CEO)
“Camera equipment, then?”
Jungkook (photographer)
“I… No. I’ll just—I’ll just do it,” (Jeongguk agreed, sounding taken aback and flattered simultaneously.)
Jimin (CEO)
“I’m not forcing you to do anything,” (Jimin reminded him.)
Jimin (CEO)
“I’m only requesting that you stay and take some candid photographs while I’m here in Los Angeles working with the company.
Jimin (CEO)
It’s not an obligation. And despite what you say, I’m still going to financially compensate you for your time.”
Jungkook (photographer)
“I’ll stay,” Jeongguk agreed.
Jungkook (photographer)
“If my work is appreciated, then… well, yeah, of course I’ll stay. Just let me know what kind of photographs you want.”
Jimin (CEO)
“Candid,” Jimin repeated.
Jimin (CEO)
“It’s appreciated more than you even know. Thank you. I have to make a little speech, have a meeting, the works. So just be a fly on the wall.”
Jungkook (photographer)
Hmm
(Jeongguk nodded quietly, and Jimin peeled off, his heart pounding, knowing that Jeongguk was watching him walk away)
