“Good morning, Mr. Park.”

Jimin (CEO)

“Good morning to you, too. This is yours.”

Lia Choi

“Oh. Thank you so much,” (Lia Choi said with a bow)

Lia Choi

(Accepting the coffee that Jimin was handing her)

**About Lia Choi** (Lia was only twenty-years-old, but she was studying business at UCLA and was the most determined young hopeful Jimin had ever met. She had been a summer intern three years ago, and when Jimin had learned that she was a Korean-American, he had just snatched her up and insisted that she work for Park Consolidated, offering her a contract that no other company dared to give to an eighteen-year-old just starting her studies at university.)

(Whenever he was on American soil, Lia was his right-hand woman. Jimin wrote her excusal notes so that she didn’t have to attend class when he showed up in L.A., citing workplace experience as the best classroom, and professors listened. Lia had saved Jimin’s ass on more than one occasion, and she gave Namjoon and run for his money with how thorough she was.)

Jimin (CEO)

“Go ahead,” (Jimin said as they walked into the office building through the revolving doors.)

Lia Choi

“The photoshoot is happening first thing this morning,” (Lia said.)

Lia Choi

“Nine o'clock sharp in the showroom. The designers were meant to be here at eight o'clock to set up,

Lia Choi

But I made sure they knew that if they wanted to be employed tomorrow, they should in at seven.”

Jimin (CEO)

“Kiss your brain.”

Lia Choi

“Already did,” (Lia replied with a grin, steamrolling on per usual.)

Lia Choi

“So that’s all set up for you.

Lia Choi

The film crew arrived a half hour ago. They’re ready to go. The photographer is here, too. He got here at eight o’clock, and he’s been taking practice shots and asking all kinds of good questions.

Lia Choi

So we’ll get through that first.”

Jimin (CEO)

“Good. And after that?”

Lia Choi

“You’ll need to say a few words about the whole product launch to stir up excitement amongst your colleagues,”

Lia Choi

(Lia said with theatrics, and then she reached two fingers into the folder she was carrying behind her iPad and pulled out a piece of paper.)

Lia Choi

“I prepared a small bit for you, but feel free to rip it up and freestyle.” 😄

Jimin (CEO)

“You’re a goddess.”

Lia Choi

I like hearing new information, Mr. Park, not regurgitated bullshit.

Lia Choi

(Lia said as Jimin snorted with laughter, pressing the UP button for the elevator.)

Lia Choi

“After that, you have lunch with Hwang Donghyeon, your father’s favorite ex-pat associate.”

Jimin (CEO)

“Are you sure about that?”

Lia Choi

“Depends.

Lia Choi

Are you going to be so encumbered that you’re unable to make an engagement that your father set up without your knowledge in the first place?

Lia Choi

(Lia asked as they elevator began to ascend, sipping her coffee nonchalantly.)

Jimin (CEO)

“Extremely busy.”

Lia Choi

“Then you no long have lunch with Mr. Hwang,” (Lia decided, tapping a few things on her iPad, coffee still in-hand.)

(Jimin paid Lia an exorbitant amount of money for her quick wit, sharp tongue, kick-ass attitude, and ability to look fifty-year-old men in the eye and tell them no. Never once had she failed him, and Jimin was certain that one day, he’d have to offer her a raise and possibly the entire world on a silver platter to move to Korea and work in the head office.)

Jimin (CEO)

“Good. Thank you.”

Lia Choi

“Also, I should warn you,” (Lia said as the elevator doors slid open.)

Lia Choi

“There are a few representatives here from Grisham Enterprises, and they’ve been stalking the halls looking for you.”

Jimin (CEO)

“Lovely,” Jimin said.

Jimin (CEO)

(He had abandoned a video chat with Grisham Enterprises only a day and a half ago in favor of going home, so surely, they were ready to attack.)

Lia Choi

“Yes, well, they’re panicking because they think they won’t be cut in on even a small percentage of this product launch.

Lia Choi

I’d say go easy on them, but one of them called me ‘Ponytail,’ so tell them to bend over,” (Lia said,)

Jimin (CEO)

(And Jimin paused mid-walk down the main hallway to laugh, turning a little as Lia sipped her coffee with raised eyebrows, unaffected.)

Jimin (CEO)

“I’m giving you raise,” (Jimin said as they continued to walk.)

Lia Choi

“You say that a lot, and my bank account is listening—

Lia Choi

Ah, here they are,” (Lia noted, and then she politely stepped to the side)

(as five men marched directly towards Jimin, blocking his way to the showroom. And at the point was Jimin’s least favorite senior vice president, Adam Davidson. He was old enough to be Jimin’s father and corrupt enough to be just the right asshole to represent Grisham Enterprises.)

Mr Davidson

“Tell me, Mr. Park, do you know how to read a clock?” (Davidson asked coolly.)

Jimin (CEO)

“Good morning to you, too, Mr. Davidson.

Jimin (CEO)

My flight was lovely, thank you,” (Jimin said, taking a sip of his coffee.)

Mr Davidson

“Do you know how to read a clock, Mr. Park?” (Davidson snapped.)

Jimin (CEO)

“I don’t know, Mr. Davidson. Do you?

Jimin (CEO)

I learned how to tell time when I was six. I’m starting to think that you didn’t get a proper education,” (Jimin replied evenly.)

Mr Davidson

Then explain to me why I was present for a video conference with you, and you were disconnected and unaccounted for?” (Davidson asked.)

Mr Davidson

“Do clocks read differently in Korea? Are they not in your language?”

Jimin (CEO)

“Did you know that clocks tell time in the same way all over the world?” (Jimin asked lightly.)

Jimin (CEO)

“I was present and waiting at exactly seven-thirty Pacific Standard Time.

Jimin (CEO)

Forgive me, asshole, but I don’t need to know a word of English to be able to tell that you were late.”

Mr Davidson

“It was five minutes. A grace period would have been kind of you,” (Davidson said,)

Jimin (CEO)

(And Jimin cocked one eyebrow.)

Jimin (CEO)

“Or maybe a basic understanding of reading English numbers on a clock.”

Jimin (CEO)

"I’m a twenty-five-year-old CEO of a billion-dollar company, Mr. Davidson.

Jimin (CEO)

And while I appreciate your naïveté, your lack of understanding as to how time management works is staggering.

Jimin (CEO)

I’m fluent in English because I have to deal with racist dickheads like you on a regular basis. You were late.

Jimin (CEO)

I waited for three minutes. You didn’t show. I lost interest, and you only proved your lack of reliability.

Jimin (CEO)

So here’s how it’s going to work,” Jimin said a bit louder, holding up a hand to silence Davidson’s rebuttal.

Jimin (CEO)

“I’m going to take a look at my schedule, and if I have any time while I’m here in L.A. to squeeze your dumb ass in, I’ll let you know.

Jimin (CEO)

Otherwise, Park Consolidated won’t sign you, and you can let your boss know why. So you better goddamn hope I have some time.”

Mr Davidson

“Mr. Park, that is not—”

Jimin (CEO)

“Not the outcome you were hoping for? I’m sorry, I’m on a schedule that doesn’t include time to care. Excuse me.

Jimin (CEO)

I have a photoshoot and product placement meeting to deal with,” (Jimin said coldly, and then he sidestepped Davidson and continued on down the hallway,)

Jimin (CEO)

(Listening to Davidson curse him out behind his back—nothing new.)

Lia Choi

“That was more satisfying than the coffee,”

Lia Choi

(Lia said, walking swiftly beside Jimin with her iPad poised and ready, her long ponytail swinging. She had already discarded her empty coffee cup.)

Jimin (CEO)

“Make no mistake, I’m here to serve you and you only,” (Jimin joked.)

Lia Choi

“Well then, is there anything else you’ll need before we continue with the inspection and the photo session?” Lia asked.

Jimin (CEO)

“I’ll just need you by my side to take notes as necessary. And I swear to God, Lia, if there’s even a dent or scratch visible in any of those photos,

Jimin (CEO)

I’ll hang the photographer first, and then the idiots who put together the model car,” (Jimin said.)

Lia Choi

“Noted. But the photographer seems very nice, so maybe we can blame the idiots who put the model together for any visible flaws,"

Lia Choi

(Lia suggested calmly, like she was used to hearing casual death threats in the office. It wasn’t uncommon.)

Jimin (CEO)

“Did anyone double check the specs?”

Lia Choi

“Three times.”

Jimin (CEO)

“Well, when you say it like that, it makes it sound like they’re nervous for me to show up,”( Jimin said with a teasing grin.)

(Lia stifled a cute laugh, covering her mouth her her fingers as they rounded the corner. She lunged forward and used one hand to push open the door, but Jimin just hurried ahead of her and held the door open for her to walk through first. She bowed to him with a pleased little smile and scooted through, Jimin hot on her heels.)

Lia Choi

“There it is,” she said,

(Gesturing to the car that was set up in a garage environment, floodlights providing lighting, most everything dark grey and black with a sleek black car, doors all propped open. All of the parts had been brought up on the freight elevator, and an entire car had been assembled in the second-floor showroom just for Jimin. So Jimin paused and took a good look at the scene set before them.)

Jimin (CEO)

“There’s my baby,” (he said with very little pride, even though he tried to fake it.)

Jimin (CEO)

It looks good from a distance. I can't complain

Jimin (CEO)

Depends on how the interior will photograph. Film crew’s here, but I want to talk to the photographer first. The last pictures we got of interiors for our previous project were shit.”

Lia Choi

“Couldn’t agree more,” Lia said,

Jimin (CEO)

(And Jimin snickered.)

Lia Choi

“Um, he was here a minute ago. He speaks Korean, did I tell you that?

Lia Choi

Your father must have known that last session’s photographer was a total dimwit.

Lia Choi

Where’d he go?” She stepped forward towards the car, leaning a little to the left.

Lia Choi

“I need the photographer, please! Mr.... ??????
