Meanwhile, at the office, Can and Miguel engage in everyday chit-chat until Miguel inquires – what are your thoughts on Thessaly and yourself?

Can grins – I think we’re already an item, and once she graduates, we’ll open another office together and work in her favorite field. If it were up to me, I’d sort it all out right now, but Tess worries about college.

Miguel – and you? Aren’t you concerned?

Can – I used to place college first, but it's not my sole occupation; I can easily revert to just the office alone, and forego my studies if she truly wants to invest in the two of us.

Miguel – could you really do that, Can? Because I know the effort it took for you to get there, the exams you’ve taken, the sleepless nights to qualify. Are you willing to give all that up?

Can looks at him earnestly – for Tessa, yes. I’ve broached the subject with her, but she’s adamant about not discussing it just yet. However, the moment she decides to concentrate on us, I’m ready to give it all up, Mr. Miguel.

Can – but I had no life before; my everyday was bleak, just work and home, occasionally a fling with a woman. But once they left, it all went back to how it was. I had never become involved with a student; I set that rule for myself. But when Tessa arrived, she was like a whirlwind. She brought joy to my life.
