Episode 11

Looking at Diana, Flor smiled, the girl next to Edwin seemed too beautiful to Flor. She was like a little angel who had descended from heaven to become the ideal wife of her grandson. "But, how beautiful she is!" Flor exclaimed excitedly. She tried to get up from the sofa to greet Diana. However, her husband's hand stopped her. Confused, Flor turned to look at Antonio, who had a disgusted look on his face. It seemed that Edwin's new wife was too young for her grandson, who was already over 35 years old.

Being just a girl of 18 years, Diana was not the right woman to help Edwin in managing the Shop enterprises, as she did not have enough education to be the woman for a man like Edwin. "What's going on?" Antonio remained silent, examining Diana carefully. The more he looked at her, the more beautiful she seemed, yet he still thought she was too young for his grandson. "She is a very beautiful girl, but too young for a veteran like Edwin," Antonio responded indifferently.

"For love, there is no age, don't you remember that when I married you, I was much younger than you?" Flor disagreed with the absurd expression Antonio was having. "Don't compare, woman, those were very different times. Our families were the ones who arranged our marriages," Antonio replied. "Even so, I accepted to marry you. Although I didn't marry you out of love, I ended up deeply in love with a beautiful ogre," Flor said. Antonio got up from the sofa, not wanting to continue arguing with Flor, who was so stubborn that he would never be able to win.

Antonio walked slowly to where Edwin and Diana were. He stretched out his hand to greet Diana and get to know her. "My name is Antonio Shop, I am Edwin's paternal grandfather, and of course, from now on, I will be yours too." Quickly, Diana reached out her hand, taking Antonio's hand kindly. She smiled, but not a single word came out of her mouth.

Confused, Antonio turned to look at Edwin, who immediately explained what Diana had. "She is mute, she hasn't been able to speak since she was three years old," Edwin mentioned indifferently. Antonio turned his head to look at his wife, the two elderly exchanged some looks, which caused Diana to let go of Antonio's hand and feel ashamed.

Flor, who was a very observant woman, quickly noticed the embarrassment Diana felt. The girl lowered her head, avoiding eye contact with Antonio. "You don't have to feel ashamed for something that you have no control over. Maybe if you see a specialist, they can help you speak again," Flor said with a genuine smile.

Diana lifted her gaze slightly to look at Flor. The elderly woman got up from the couch and approached Diana, Antonio, and Edwin. Antonio instinctively moved away from Diana, not disagreeing that Edwin had fallen in love with a mute girl, as it could bring some consequences if she became pregnant. His great-grandson could inherit the same disorder as his mother, which would be a serious problem. However, to Flor, Diana seemed like a beautiful, simple, and humble girl, qualities that no other woman could possess.

Flor took Diana's hands with affection; she cared little about the speech problem Diana had. There was nothing that a good specialist couldn't fix in a short amount of time. "You are very beautiful, and it doesn't matter if you speak or not. There are many people with disabilities who are still excellent human beings," Flor said, kissing Diana's cheek. "Thank you so much, grandma," Diana said, moving her hands. "I don't know what you're trying to tell me, but it must be something very nice, I can tell by the smile on your lips," before Flor finished speaking, Diana hugged her tightly.

While two women embraced, Antonio gave Edwin a glance. The old man walked into his grandson's room, followed immediately by Edwin.

Upon entering the room, Edwin lowered his gaze, sensing that Antonio did not approve of his marriage.

"She is beautiful, I do not deny it... But, she is mute!... That could have consequences, if she ever becomes pregnant and gives birth to a child with the same disorder." Antonio was somewhat furious.

"Don't worry, Diana is not mute from birth. She stopped speaking when her mother died." Edwin replied, flopping down on the bed.

Antonio fell silent for a few seconds. It was undeniable that Diana was a truly beautiful girl on the outside, but on the inside, she might be like all the others, and only after her family's fortune.

"I heard you're going on a trip this weekend." Antonio commented...

"No, the trip is today in less than two hours. And as you can see, I have no time to waste..." Edwin was quite rude to Antonio, chasing them out of his apartment.

"What's gotten into you!..."

"I am the patriarch of this family, you cannot speak to me in this manner, and much less suggest that I leave!..." Antonio raised his voice, not caring that his wife and Diana could hear.

Edwin got up from the bed, it was almost impossible to have a conversation with his grandfather.

Just as the boy was about to speak, the door to the room opened. Flor entered, looking at her husband in annoyance.

"Let me alone with this grumpy old man..."

Edwin left his room leaving his grandparents there. Flor closed the door securely so that no one could hear them, let alone interrupt them, as she was about to have a marital talk.

"Don't interfere, woman... This is a problem between Edwin and me..." Antonio mentioned coldly.

"Are you forbidding me to interfere?..."

"Am I hearing correctly?!... Or is my right earpiece failing me."

Flor was giving her husband a second chance to redeem himself, and not speak to her in that manner.
