Episode 9

Sara had not anticipated that upon her return, she would find Edwin, married to another woman. Sara had sacrificed so much to become a successful woman, one who could stand eye to eye with Edwin, so that when the time came to meet Edwin's family, they would recognize her as the perfect match for him.

Sara was intimately familiar with Edwin's grandparents and likewise with his parents. She understood their way of thinking, and it had been a difficult journey for her to become the woman she was now.

She was not ready to give up that easily, having returned with a purpose, and she would not relent until she achieved her goal of becoming Edwin’s wife.

Sara stepped forward with urgency, allowing her tears to fall, resulting in a swell of confused feelings in Edwin's heart...

For many years, Edwin had loved Sara deeply; she was the most wonderful thing that had ever happened in his life, and making love to her was one of the most fulfilling experiences he could remember. Yet one day, without a word, Sara vanished from his life, leaving behind only a note that said:

"Edwin, I love you with all my strength, but I cannot stay by your side"...

After that day, Edwin endured a pain he never wished to experience again; he had entrusted not just his heart but his very soul to Sara, the woman he had loved so profoundly for years.

Now, he was left with a mix of emotions that felt impossible to single out... Edwin had become a cold man, never again opening his heart to another woman, which led his family to pressure him into marrying just about anyone.

"Edwin..." Sara's voice was a piteous whisper.

Edwin simply gazed at the woman before him. Sara hadn't changed at all; rather, her beauty had only magnified over time.

"Sara Chop..." Edwin clenched his teeth, releasing his grip from Diana's body.

Seeing Edwin let go of Diana filled Sara with immense joy inside her heart.

"Can we talk for a minute..." Sara continued, taking several steps until she was at Edwin's right side.

"No." Edwin’s cold refusal crashed the recent hopes she had allowed herself to build.

Sara did not relent; from the corner of her eye, she saw Diana, who seemed so insignificant next to a man like Edwin. Diana was but a girl next to a true man like him.

Seizing the moment, Sara rested her hand gently on Edwin's arm. Her touch was soft, not like Diana’s; for Diana had labored hard as a servant in her uncle's home for so many years, her hands were rough and calloused - unlike Sara's, which were meticulously cared for to showcase her refined femininity.

Not once did Sara cease weeping; her tears fell like cascades of saltwater, invoking pity in more than one onlooker.

"Edwin, don't be so cruel to me, give me a chance to explain. Years ago, I couldn't do it because I didn't have the courage to face you..." The atmosphere in the office turned colder than an iceberg.

Edwin shook off Sara's hand, moved slightly forward, and abruptly took Diana’s hand.

"I have nothing to discuss with you. I am now a married man..." Edwin displayed the ring on his finger.

"Edwin, you know you don’t love her. You can't lie to yourself! ..."

"So, tell me, whom do I love? ..." Edwin mocked.

"It’s me, only I can achieve what no other woman has in you! ..." Sara brushed Edwin's lip with her thumb.

Sara wanted to take Edwin back to the past, to reminisce about the beautiful moments they shared.

"Whatever was between you and me is in the past. Get over it." Edwin dismissed, removing Sara’s hand from him.

Yet Sara continued to resist surrendering, glaring angrily at Diana, blaming her for stealing Edwin away.

"We must go..." Edwin commanded, pushing his bride ruthlessly to his side.

Diana understood nothing, merely a rag doll subject to the whims of others. Upon arriving at the car, Edwin opened the door and pushed Diana inside, indifferent to whether she might get hurt.

Edwin too got into the car, his face contorted with emotion. His hands clenched into fists and his jaws tightened.

Diana lowered her head, shedding her tears discreetly, not expecting the intrusion of Edwin's ex-girlfriend at her wedding, and given Edwin's reaction, it was clear he still harbored love for her.

The driver sensed Edwin's foul mood, unaware of what had transpired inside the Civil Registry, and wrongly blamed Diana for his boss's ill temper.

"Sir, to the old mansion..." the chauffeur murmured softly.

"To the apartment..." Edwin ordered the driver, no longer in the mood to visit his grandparents or parents.

"Mrs. Flor called just now, anxiously asking if what the magazines are reporting is true..."

Edwin retrieved his phone, glancing at the latest headlines. News of his wedding to the mysterious girl had caused an uproar.

"Take care of erasing this news, and make those responsible pay..." Edwin instructed his driver.

The driver simply nodded in acknowledgment, though he hadn't anticipated that the news would upset Edwin so much.

Diana glanced through the car window, her tears falling one after another, unstoppable.
