Noah
After that day's event, everything has been chaotic. Arvan noticed my mark, he couldn't recognize me at first; there's no connection between us even though I still bear his mark. This won't bring us together, and that's perfectly fine by me.
Or that's what I wish to say, I’m pushing myself beyond my limits, rejecting him and pushing him away hurts me more than I care to admit. I can’t stay here any longer. I should have told Elian the truth, that this person is Arvan Daniels and that I carry his mark. I can't let this man drive me to despair; I'm all Zoe and Joe have, and they are all I have. That's why I'm here in the first place, Montenegro Enterprises is their legacy too.
The call I got from Kilian was disconcerting; he said Elian stepped down from the presidency and no one knows his whereabouts. I left many messages without success, tried calling, and nothing. I don’t like this one bit. Was their argument that severe?
Valentina: You’ve finished with your commitments for the day, sir. I stretched in my chair, feeling more worn out lately.
"Thank you, Valentina. And by the way, cancel the arrangement with the Cossios; the police will handle them." This was a favor from Elian; apparently, he didn't like the way I was handling things with the Cossios. The company was not losing anything, but it was very clear, all he cared about was making them pay for how they treated me. He's the best of the brothers, a bit odd sometimes, but always puts others first. Why can't Kilian see that? He's sometimes harsh with him.
Valentina: As you wish, sir.
"I’m leaving now, don’t stay too late today, I don’t intend to come back."
Valentina: Sir, the president wants...
"Whatever that man wants is of no concern to me, do as I told you."
Valentina: Yes, sir. I smiled and left, having finished all my pending tasks quite early; in fact, I pushed hard just to be able to pick up my kids from the garden.
After picking them up, we decided to head home to have a family afternoon, complete with popcorn and a few children's movies, obviously after they've done their homework.
Jorge: Sir, don’t be alarmed, but that car has been following us since we left the company.
"What do they want?"
Jorge: Don’t worry, my men are on it. They're reliable, the other three cars (the two carrying the twins and the one escorting Noah) intercepted the vehicle. The person who got out never expected it, it was Mariana. I got out as soon as she started hurling insults at me, and I told my kids to never let themselves be seen by her. She'd followed us to the kindergarten, but she didn't need to know who or what we went to see there, she'd have to get inside for that.
"Why are you following me?"
Mariana: I want to talk to you. She keeps glancing over my shoulder, just looking for something to blackmail me with. I guess her family's situation has her desperate, but no way will I let this harpy see my children.
"I have nothing to talk to you about, please guys, make sure this..."lady"doesn't bother us anymore, if she resists, you’re allowed to get tough."
Mariana: You're a damn bastard...
"I should feel pleased; I learned well from you. Instead, be thankful that I haven't started with you yet, so don't rush me." I turned away, leaving her there, and instructed Jorge to continue.
Joe: Who was that person, dad?
"Someone bad. You should never go near her."
Zoe: I don't like that woman, she looks like a witch.
"Ha, you're absolutely right, she is a very bad witch."
After arriving home and ensuring that the twins got their homework done, I called Elian. Fortunately, he answered, but after talking to him, I was even more restless. I didn’t fully believe him; he's hiding something, he isn’t like that.
I called Kilian but got no answer, so I left a message.
Zoe: Daddy, are we watching movies?
"Sure, movie afternoon." I saw them get excited about the idea, we prepared some snacks together, and then we watched movies for the rest of the afternoon.
Arvan.
“Sir, a man says you’re expecting him, I think his name is Sebastian Robles” my assistant informed me of the visitor who had kept me waiting all day long.
"Send him in." She left, and a few minutes later, the man entered.
"Detective Robles, please sit down. I hope you have something for me." He sat down and opened his briefcase, handing me a slim folder.
Robles: With the little time you gave me, there wasn’t much I could look into, but thanks to the generous sum you provided for information, I made significant headway. I started reading the information.
Noah was adopted by Jacob Montenegro over six years ago. I now understand his reaction when I spoke ill of him; I feel like a fool, he was never his lover. I heard it so often I ended up believing it too.
He lived abroad all these years and even though he was part of Montenegro Enterprises’ leadership, he never showed up at the company.
Robles: Jacob's third child was quite asocial. It was rumored that all the alpha staff at the mansion had been replaced. It means he can't tolerate alphas close by, which explains the behavior of his lackeys whenever an alpha is near. This is also my fault, isn't it?
There are no records of him ever getting married, and since he was always reclusive, it was impossible for him to have had a partner, but...
Robles: I couldn’t find any records, but according to one of Montenegro's former employees, the omega Mr. Jacob brought in years ago was pregnant. Due to the sensitive nature of his condition, he and all the alpha employees were replaced. That hit hard; was Noah expecting my child? Did he lose it? The likelihood is high after I rejected him so harshly. Impossibility of child survival, considering the circumstances if it had happened.
Robles: I couldn't get any birth records or medical documents due to time constraints, but given more time, I am sure I can obtain them.
"Fine, though I doubt that baby survived." Acknowledging this is tremendously difficult; it's my fault, and there’s no turning the clock back.
"I want all the details. Furthermore, this must remain confidential to everyone else." I handed him a check and walked him out. I also had to take action, but I found that Noah had already left again. What’s so important that he leaves like this every day? Seeing happiness on his face annoys me. I have no right to be jealous, but I can't help it; he's my omega...
What the hell am I thinking? I rejected him.
Without a second thought, I discreetly followed him, needing to know who he meets every day. He cannot be with someone else unless he's willing to be marked again... No, impossible!
He stopped at a kindergarten! What's he doing here? I can't get any closer; firstly, his guards are still there, and the school only allows parents and families in it's a prestigious place with tight security.
It might just be me, but I’m not the only one tailing them. Is that my nephew's useless wife? If she becomes a problem, I'll deal with her.
I waited for the car to leave, but I couldn’t see anything because of the tinted windows. These guys are good; they took care of that woman. And I say 'good' because they haven't noticed me yet. Now I know where he lives but once again, can't see a thing. I received a call about an emergency and even though I wanted to wait for Noah to come down, I drove back to the company.
Couldn't they handle something so simple? Because of this nonsense, I had to leave what I was doing... Trying to cool off, I remind myself this is my job, not following Noah. But why he went to that kindergarten nagged at me. I called to schedule a visit, claiming I wanted to enroll my nephew arriving from abroad. They arranged a visit for me first thing the next morning.
I’m here, arrived early before usual drop-off times for the kids. What am I expecting to see?
"Oh, Mr. Daniels, you're early, welcome! I can attend to you now, let's go." My attention diverted from the school director when I saw Noah's car pull up, and my heart skipped a beat as the little ones got out with him.
Their age can’t be more than six, both with gray eyes and black hair like mine, and that boy's gaze, so like my own. There's no doubt he's my spitting image.
"Mr. Daniels? Are you all right?" She must be puzzled because I just ducked into hiding when Noah looked my way. Do I have the right to confront him? I left them alone; they probably don’t even know I exist. He hates me, rightfully so, and I can't find a single reason to even get close to them, feeling like the scum of the earth.
"Please excuse me, I have to leave."
"Are you quite pale! Are you all right?"
"No, I'm not feeling well, my apologies." Noah was bidding goodbye to my children; the little girl called him, and as he stopped, she ran to embrace him, the boy following her lead. The names he mentioned back then, are they theirs? Joe and Zoe? If so, they're perfect names. They seem happy and healthy, likely very bright too. What do they like to do? Eat? When are their birthdays? The family picture I’d imagined is far different from what they have. I never even considered an omega to bear my offspring, and now I’m regretting not being a part of their lives, but what's the use?
