Episode 15

"Good afternoon, Jaehan, how goes married life?" asked one of his friends.

They exchanged a brief hug while laughing. He thought about telling him that they were on the verge of knifing each other, but he was able to realize that things had been changing since the last week had passed.

He thought that Saije was beginning to understand better how things really were since he no longer heard him nagging about everything. He had spent the first few days checking to see if what had happened had affected him in any way, but there wasn't much to monitor because the Omega had quite quickly forgotten it. He assumed that if something much worse had happened, then the damage would have been worse too.

"Normal."

"Normal? It's not supposed to be as dull as you make it sound. We all saw the news a few weeks ago, and the Omega you landed is really cute."

"How are the cabins coming along, by the way?" asked Jaehan, changing the subject.

"Well, it's going well. Right now, there's not much because it's winter, but in the summer the sales skyrocket. You should be the first to rent a cabin from me for the summer," he said with an amused smile.

Jaehan didn't say much as he was reviewing some papers.

"I'll see by then. Maybe by that time I'll be divorced."

"Divorced? Why? I wish I had your luck."

The Alpha flashed a smile, knowing full well that if an Omega like Saije came his way, he would run for the hills. Things were not easy; they had been worse at the beginning, but at least now he had his normal hair color back and wasn't wearing anything written on his jackets.

"Anyway, like I was saying the other day. There have been some losses in that sector, so I need to invest a bit more to see if everything goes up from here to two months more."

"So, are you coming to ask me for money?"

"How do you guess it?" asked the man, laughing.

"Well, considering you only come by when you need money, I assumed."

"Hey! How can you say that? I've always been there for you. We've been friends since we were kids, and you suddenly spout that nonsense out of nowhere."

Jaehan watched him for a few seconds. He was an Alpha just like him, but he knew his type. While Jaehan was studying for an exam, he would be having fun with his friends and drinking.

"If I was one of the most studious," the guy retorted, almost offended.

"As far as I know," said Jaehan, "while I was studying, you were taking advantage of the good will of Omegas."

The guy flashed a smile.

"Well, it's not my fault they offered to help."

"Alright, just tell me, how much do you want?"

"It's just a little, nothing that can complicate your life, just thirty million pesos."

When he left, Magdalena came in with some things. She was smiling as much as always, and the good will on her face was nearly unmatched. They chatted a bit about some matters and then she just left. He didn't have many things in the day, so everything went by pretty fast. Before he knew it, he was in the bathroom of his company.

He watched himself for a few seconds in the mirror because his hair was just as he remembered. He had had to dissociate himself from many questions while he had dye in his hair, even from his parents, so he was amazed at himself because he never imagined he could be so good at lying when he never did it in his life.

He rested his hands on the washbasin and looked at the ring that he hadn't removed since Saije had told him.

When he got home, he met the usual woman who took care of the food. She informed him that dinner was ready, so Jaehan wanted to go upstairs to change his clothes and eat comfortably. He walked down the hall and, just before entering his room, saw an open door. He looked closely because that door should never open so as not to reveal things he didn't want to see.

He walked quickly when he saw Saije inside looking. He didn't realize that someone was watching him because he only had in mind the desire to take that violin with his hands. It was far away, but it looked in good condition and almost called out to him to take it out of the darkness it had been left in for too many years.

He thought that if it was there, it was because nobody was going to use it and that instead of letting it continue to collect dust or throwing it away, it was more appropriate that it stayed with him, as he was going to make very good use of it and would care for it like a sacred bone.

He stretched out his hands to take it when Jaehan screamed:

"What the hell are you doing here?!"

Saije immediately turned to see him at the door with a face full of anger.

"I-I…"

"How dare you enter here?! What were you going to touch?!"

"N-nothing, I just wanted to take the violin and..."

Hearing that, the anger Jaehan felt was worse. The Omega saw him stride toward him and felt small again. He closed his eyes tightly, thinking he was going to be hit or something worse because of the anger in his body. The feeling of his arm being grabbed carelessly sent him into a panic. Jaehan pulled on him without caring about anything to push him out. He fell to the floor on his knees with a groan and continued to hear him scream.

"Never enter here again!! No one is allowed into this place!! And that violin is sacred, nobody is ever allowed to touch it again!"

"Master Jaehan, please calm down," spoke the woman who arrived to help Saije.

"How could you let him in here?!"

"I didn't notice. He doesn't know, please don't yell at him."

She stepped back, keeping Saije behind her as Jaehan slammed the door shut.

"Go to your room," she whispered to the Omega who was almost trembling from the Alpha's attitude.

"How many times must I tell you to keep these damn keys?!" he bellowed, almost on top of her.

The rage he was feeling was so intense he was about to start hitting the walls. The mere thought of Saije touching that instrument terrified him. All those things were locked away because he couldn't bear to see them. Just seeing a violin in the city center caused him pain and painful memories of his little sister.

She had always loved him, played sweet melodies every day while smiling, and he knew that it was with the violin that she was happy. She might not have been able to walk, but she had told him many times that by creating melodies, she felt free and capable of anything.

"I'm so sorry, it won't happen again."

"That violin," he murmured, and his voice broke for a moment, "that violin is... special."

She saw him crying just as many other times. She knew how much this affected him since they had always been very close. His little sister spent more time at Jaehan's house than at her parents' and he had not been able to get rid of the wheelchair or the violin.

Frightened still, Saije could hear his sobs in the hallway.

"Don't let anyone touch it, please."

"Relax, no one will touch it," Anna assured him as she walked him to his room.

She had witnessed how they always laughed and had a good time together. Jaehan had been the best brother of all and had always been with her. Her death had affected their parents, but the grief he still felt was overwhelming. There had been nights when he thought he heard her voice and got up to go to her room only to find nothing. He had managed to empty the room of everything, and it was the same as any other, but disposing of those two things was impossible.

He stayed looking at the photograph he had on his bedside table where she appeared with a smile holding the violin in her hands.

The next day, Jaehan did not have breakfast and simply left, and Saije didn't come down all day. He stayed in his bed watching the day pass by the window until he heard the noise of the car signifying he had returned. He sighed and wanted to sleep when he heard the door being knocked.

He ignored it until he heard it open. Jaehan watched him for a few seconds. He was looking out the window, so his back was turned to him. He surveyed the room until his eyes landed on the vase where the other flowers he had given him were still there, but they were almost all wilted despite Saije always changing the water.

"I just came to apologize for yesterday," he muttered. "I didn't mean to treat you that way, but that's a matter I still can't handle well. I got scared when I saw you in there. If you don't want to say anything, that's fine, I just came to say I'm sorry and to bring you this gift."

He heard the door close and turned to see that there was a new bouquet of flowers. He stood up, walked over to pick them up, and thought they were as beautiful as the ones that were dying. He didn't hesitate to switch them out and gave a small smile.

He didn't blame him much because he too had things he still didn't know how to handle and that caused him fear. He never believed that an Alpha as intimidating as him could cry, but he thought only true people were capable of showing all their feelings, regardless of being women or men or Alphas or Omegas.
