Shortcut to the palace

Kyro leaned against a tree and watched Kenij play along side the water. Next to the tree Rei was sitting on the grass, feeding Kaito. Kimi was making a crown of flower and she was laughing happily. Behind them the warriors were resting.

Suddenly they felt the ground quiver and they saw something in the distance, it approached them at great speed. Kyro did not know what it was, so he told the warriors to keep their guard up.

Just before them a large light gray fox with six tails stopped. Kyro looked at the fox and then at the boy who was sitting on the fox.

mm, what is he doing here? What is he going to do again, he must have been bored in the palace. As a child, Kyro oftend traveled to the North with his father and had met Hu a few times. 

He was not really fond of him, because every time he was tempted by Hu to do mischief, they got caughted and punished. And kyro more because he was a few months older then Hu.

Kyro walked to the fox. The fox lowered his head and let himself be stroked by him. The fox had grown a lot, kyro still knew how small the fox was. His dragon was a few centimeters larger at the time. He looked up and wanted to greet Hu, but he was making weird gestures and was that Kaida sitting behind him?

"greetings my lord, I heared from your Crown princess that you are the first general. My name is Hu and I am a servant of the palace. I have come to accompany you to your destination. I can imagine that it is a long journey and I know a faster route "

The fox had laid down and Hu and Kaida slipped of from the Fox.

Kaida walked to Kyro and stood next to him

" Hu this is Kyro. Behind us is his wife Rei and their three children."

Then Kaida walked towards her warriors.

Hu walked to Kyro and gave him a warm smile and put his arm around his neck.

"Wow kyro my man you are married? And not just one but three children? I Really feel quite insulted that I have not been invited to the wedding. But I already know what happened to my invitation it just did not arrive on time? "

Kyro pulled his hand away

"then the invitation is three years late and it is not going to arrive. And should'nt you think abour your cover? Are you not just a servant of the palace? "

"Why so distant? I thought we were friends, it's been so long since we've seen each other. I am happy to see you old friend. "

Hu laughed and walked to Rei

" greetings my lady, it is an honor to meet you and your children "

Rei looked up at Hu, it was certain that he was not only a servant of the palace. But it did not look like he had bad intentions. And in addition, it also seemed like Kyro and he knew each other.

"thank you for you greetings but the formalities are not necessary. I would like to thank you for accompanying us to the palace"

in the meantime Kenij and Kimi had run to their father. they were admiring the fox. this was the first time they saw a fox.

Meanwhile Kaida was giving her warriors orders to get ready to leave. She was in a cheerful mood. Despite the fact that riding a fox was not the same as a dragon, it did remind her of it. What did she miss the wind in her hair and the speed.

She had to move quick, the sooner her wedding was over, the better. Then she could prepare herself for the ceremony and the dragon dance.

When they were ready they followed Hu. After two and a half hour Hu gestured that they had to stop. He slipped from his fox and helped Kaida to get of his fox.

"Crown princes, I think it's better if you prepare for your arrival at the palace. From here it is less than thirty minutes traveling. I assume that you do not want to make your entry in your combat clothing "

When Rei heard that, she made a leap of joy. She had been waiting for this moment. She wanted to dress up kaida so much, but Kaida found it more comfortable in her combat clothes. She did not want to know anything about make-up, so Rei did not get the chance. Finally the moment was here!

Rei went to Kaida and took her by the hand

"come with me, the gods know how long I've waited for this"

she gestured to two female warriors to follow them. Hu had gave them directions where there was a lake so they went there.

The two female warriors helped Kaida bathe. Kaida did not feel comfortable because she was not used to it. Normally only Rei helped her. 

When kaida was finished, she was dressed in the traditional engagement clothing of the dragons tribe.

She was wearing a red satin dress. Around her neck she had the necklace she had received from her dragon. It was a ruby chain that glowed like fire.

Rei stood beside her and opened a jewelery box, in the box were earrings in the form of dragons and two bracelets with flames on it.

Rei put the earrings in and the bracelets around the wrists of kaida. Then she made her up and brushed her hair.

"At first i wanted to put your hair up but your red hair fits so nicely with your clothes that I will not do that ." 

Rei keep two locks of hair hanging loose in front of kaida's face. Then she made two thin braids at the front of Kaida her hair and put them togethere in a braid backwards. She let the rest of Kaida's hair fall loose backwards.

Rei looked at Kaida and had to pick away a tear. Kaida looked so beautiful. She was no longer a little girl, but a beautiful woman.

"Your mother would have been proud of you"

Kaida got tears in her eyes. She was so happy with Rei, but she would have loved to have her mother with her

"Thank you Rei, I'm glad you're with me. I'm starting to get nervous. I do not know anything about marriage. What if I do not do well? What if something goes wrong?

Rei smiled at her

"it will be fine. Just be yourself. Even if it is different from my marriage, I am sure that things wil go well. I am with you and I will follow you every step of the way "

she hugged Kaida firmly.

When Kaida returned, her warriors were astonished, was that their crown princess ? They were used to seeing her in her combat clothes and now they saw her being completely dressed up. 

Kyro walked over to her and put a cloak made of the scales of a dragon around her. On the back of the mantle the scales formed a sign of a dragon.

Kyro knelt before her and the warriors followed him.

"May the gods bless your marriage and we wish you prosperity and happiness in your marriage"
