Time flied fast.
In the process of looking for Kaylin, Mylee suffered many days and nights alone, chewing the pain of loneliness.
His nights got darker and darker, and he was more and more addicted to smoking. He had been used to paralyzing himself with coffee and cigarettes, as if he could avoid struggling in the vortex of pain.
The cigarette burned out at his fingertips. The pain from his fingertips made Mylee wake up. In a trance, it was like going into another world.
He and everything around him seemed to be the same, but everything seemed to have changed. What remained unchanged was that the woman he never gave up looking for had never appeared.
Just like before, Kaylin disappeared in his life.
Mylee took a deep breath, bent down and put down a bunch of flowers and birthday gifts in front of the tomb of Reiss. If she was still alive, that would be so great.
After Kaylin left, Mylee never fell in love with other women, as if all the other women could not enter his sight. All he thought and missed was only Kaylin.
In the cemetery, Mylee looked up at the sky and stayed with Reiss till night. The starry sky on summer night was particularly beautiful. The moon in the sky seemed to be very close to and very far from the stars.
He had never noticed the night sky before. After Kaylin left, Mylee always looked up at the sky quietly every night, as if Kaylin's face could be seen from the sky.
For everyone, this period of time passed quickly, but for Mylee, every minute and every second was so painful.
He would often think of how he fell in love with Kaylin when he first saw her, and how he decided to be with her on impulse.
He would often think of their first two years together, that precious sweet period. But, he was unwilling to recall the painful time afterward.
"Mr. Lopes, it's late at night. Go back." The old man on patrol in the cemetery felt a little distressed when he saw that Mylee had to stand here for a whole day in every year.
When the old man's son died, he was about the same age as Mylee now, so he took Mylee as his son in his mind, and would talk to him when he saw Mylee coming.
"I want to stay with her a little longer and then I'll go back." Mylee nodded.
"You are really a good father. You stay here with your daughter at night and have prepared so many gifts."
Mylee shook his head. "No, I'm not a good father. If I were, she wouldn't be here."
Feeling the sadness emanating from Mylee, the old man patted Mylee on the shoulder, "there are many things in life that can't be started again, but as long as there is hope to make up for it, don't give up."
Hearing the old man's words, Mylee's eyes turned red.
For so long, he never felt that he deserved Kaylin's forgiveness, but the old man's understatement made him feel that as long as he believed, there was hope…
Mylee took a night flight and wanted to go back to that city.
During this time, he almost shifted all the focus of his work to that city, just because Kaylin came here in that year.
But he had lost the whereabouts of Kaylin for so long. Mylee didn't know whether Kaylin had gone elsewhere long ago.
The roar of the aircraft became louder and louder, and the warning sound of the stewardess came into his ears. Then, the aircraft also sounded a harsh alarm. The aircraft had engine failure and was now descending rapidly!
Wearing a life jacket, Mylee tightly grasped the handle of his seat. He had thought about death countless times, but he was so afraid of death for the first time!
If he died, he would never see Kaylin again!
The plane fell straight down, and Mylee lost consciousness in the violent shaking…
